I'm curious if anyone else plans to make more than 1 character per class.
I plan to make a male wizard and have a focus on melee combat. I also plan to make a female wizard and have her focused on long range magic kinda like a glass cannon.
I suppose with the respec being so easy I could just make 1 wizard and switch between those two but I imagine the various builds will warrant different gear setups and I'd rather separate them than have 1 cluttered inventory.
However, if I am making a barb I will probably just stick with 1 seeing as they don't have that large a difference. Barb see, barb pulverize there is no opposite.
Basically the wd and wiz I plan to make more than 1 because they seem able to fulfill different playstyles.
Do you plan to make more than 1 of each class? What is your reasoning to do so or not to do so?

Possibly, but that's only after I've made 1 of every class =) Then I might make the opposite sex of each class, and whichever one I don't like i'll sell on the rmah =D I got a good feeling a fresh level 60 close after launch will sell pretty high =P
I was planning to make 2 of each class, just to have both sexes. But I also want to play hardcore, and possibly even create PvP chars that specialize at certain level ranges.
Your inventory will get twice as cluttered if you make two wizards, the inventory is shared. I don't see any point in making more than one of each class, unless you're talking hardcore. A major reason for being able to respec on the fly is that you wont need to make several characters of the same class. Also, I can't actually tell you if im gonna make more than one of each class, because I haven't played the damn game yet.
> this discussion is pointless and far too theoretical to gain anything from
The inventory of your characters is not shared. The "shared stash" that sits in town is shared between characters. Oh man if all characters had the same inventory then who'd want to make more than 1 char period?(rhetorical)
I gather that you'll be lugging around all your runes and gear to switch between a caster and melee wiz? A summon wd and a dps/cc wd?
For a barb the gear can't be much different so it's reasonable to carry your gear swap with you.
I'm bored at work. Just passin time asking what people plan to do. Allow me a pointless conversation for that?

Solid reasons guys and/or gals. I will probably have a low level dueler monk that I feed twinkies to from my main char. I'll also dabble in hardcore once I get the feel for how the enemies play and feel confident with a build I think will last. I personally don't intend to sell any of my characters. I just like playing games for fun BUT if someone is gonna pay a pretty penny for a level 60... Well, you know what they say. Money talks and this nub will be doin another walkthrough xD

Do you think that once you'll rune your skill you can change the rune you have previously runed it with? If it's possible then there will be no need to have several same-class characters.
I didn't fully understand that question.
I presume a melee oriented wiz will have gear and skills that focus on higher defense, hp and damage mitigation vs a caster that focuses more on spellpower adding items. It seems that aside from runes you would need to carry with you a shield, sword and the various armors to switch from one spec to another.

I will definitely be making 2 characters. I don't want to play half way through the game with a certain build and then completely swap everything out to play the rest with another build.
I want to play from START to FINISH with the same playstyle. If it doesn't work get rid of the character.
Of course there's hardcore that you have to factor too. So I would preferably like to make at least 15 characters......
DAMN YOU BLIZZARD!!!!!!!!!!

It's all been said. The pun, the not so funny joke, the phrase, something about oneself, the not so random picture.
I plan to remake all of my characters once they are fully geared so that I don't look at my /played time and become depressed at all of my time spent playing a video game and cry....
I certainly plan on making 2 of each class. Male and Female of course.
I am hoping there are enough like me that want even more of each class, that Blizzard ups the Character cap to somthing like 25 oe 30.
I remember hearing Jay say in response to how many character slots we would have that we would have "Alot". I want to say he even said "more than we would want".
Now I know the design has changed ALOT since then, but hear me out:
I was in the crowd of folks that was a bit taken aback by the skill change and the "freespecs". I Put up a couple topics on it when we first heard the news, basically wanting there to be more commitment to your build.
But my fears have been almost 100% put to rest with the release of the calculator and rune effects. With the massive amount of variety, and the words from Blizzard that they are "not happy with being able to change out skill on the fly, mid combat" I have no doubt that that while you will be able to change your spec, it will feel more natural to players like myself to keep their build idea the same, with just minor tweaks here and there.
I want to have a Fire/Ice Wizard.
I want to have a Time themed Wizard.
I want to have a Lightning focused Wizard.
I want to have a well ballanced / most awesome build ever wizard.
I want to have a mele wizard.
What I am saying is that so far, I feel that Blizard may have struck a perfect "chord" with this skill system. It has freespecs, yes. But between not being able to change skills "on the fly" any more, and the investment in gear and runes, Players like me will want to have Multiples of each class. Players that don't want to do that, don't have to. They'll be able to change everything out if they want. Really seems like a great ballance going on here.
For this reason, I really hope we see more slots than 10 added.
I will prolly end up having a sc and hardcore of each class.
This. I will most definitely have at least two monks: one for softcore and one for hardcore. I will probably create/level other characters up to sell them.
Depends on the how the runes are going to change skill swapping. But I plan having 1 of each class in softcore, a couple in hardcore and probably my favorite class will have 2 chars on the softcore.

For softcore no, but for hardcore i will probably go through MANY of the same class:D
It really depends on if Blizzard does anything at high levels to deter build switching, such as having runes destroyed when switching skills. I do not think they will do that.
Right now, I plan on one male of each class, regular mode. Then I'll roll hardcore characters as I wish, of the female varieties. If I decide low-level pvp or just another off-build is something I want to do, I'll roll another softcore as the desire strikes me. I agree new characters are a great way to replay the game. I also think it's nice to not have to replay through three difficulty levels if you don't want to, just to try a new style.
ill probably have multiple characters of each class, because even though we can respect when ever I will probably be sticking to one style of play with each char, and I want my style of play to fit well with the items i am using, I don't like switching gear all the time

Die fr00b, die~
I might for this reason ^. Other than that it will come down to if there is some new feature they add that might make me want to roll again.
