Where's the source for that "datamine"? Usually free sets can't be datamined as they're server-sided. The reason why those are the obvious sets is because all other 3 class sets have already been in Haedrig's Gift. But to my knowledge there hasn't been any S8 datamining at all (there also hasn't been anything pushed onto the CDN so there simply isn't anything to datamine at this point).
If that's true, wich one is the easiest and quickest way to get the stash tab? WD?
P.S.Sorry for my English.
I wouldn't base my S8 class chose solely on the starting set. It just enables you to farm T6+, but you can easily switch sets as you have to farm lots and lots of rifts for the season journey anyways. It's basically just a pointer to your start build for the first 5-10 hours depending on how lucky you are to find other sets.
Generally speaking, you have separate stages:
Leveling 1-70
Acquiring your first full set (the time before you get your third Haedrig's Gift)
Farming (~100 ~T10 runs and ~GR50-60 to get all the keys+gem upgrades, bounties)
Finishing the journey (conquests, solo GR)
In step 1+2, WD is absolute king - by far. However, that means you'll only get the full Haedrig 1-2 hours earlier than the other classes because in the end it's not what takes the most time.
Step 3 takes by far the most time, simply because of the amount of farming you need to do. Here you can switch to a different set. If you get lucky and get a UE set pretty fast, DH beats everything here (and I'm saying this as someone who really doesn't like DH).
Step 4 comes down to a mix of personal preference, experience, and skill. And this is where the lines become blurry because of the time spent in steps 3+4 combined, and it also depends on what we need to do for the season journey. Do you only want the stash tab? Then GR60 solo is the most you need to do; *every* class can easily do that without much difficulty. Do you want Guardian? Then the GR70 solo will be the most difficult thing, and some classes have it easier here (Invoker Crusader is a joke up to GR70 since you can stack toughness instead of CHD/CHC) but are at a disadvantage in other steps (Crusader is very slow in farming rifts in comparison).

Thanks Bagstone!
After some months out of Diablo, I started S7 late and chose DH (never played one). With UE it was very easy and fast to get the stash tab. I will wait till everything is decided...
Acquiring your first full set (the time before you get your third Haedrig's Gift)
Farming (~100 ~T10 runs and ~GR50-60 to get all the keys+gem upgrades, bounties)
Finishing the journey (conquests, solo GR)
I'd also include mastering the set dungeon. Sure, if could be put under 'Finishing the journey' but for most part, the objectives in the journey build on top of what's come before. The set dungeon is a whole different beast in itself and there's typically one set per class that has super easy set dungeon. Picking a class who's haedrig's gift is this set or is one of that class' viable GR pushing sets will mean you won't have to farm up one more set.
In S8, IMHO the best solo class for getting the stash tab is DH. Nats is the DH's easy set dungeon and with a few pieces of M6 with Nats, it's viable for GR pushing. One would still want UE for the speed rift clears though but you won't really need UE till Destroyer or Conqueror. It's the DHs ability to speed clear rifts as well as do the other requirements that sets it apart for solo.
In a team/clan environment, I'd add on Barb and WD. If you have other players to help you speed clear rifts, WD and Barb have Arachyr and IK which are another two easy set dungeons and both sets are end game viable for GR64 (IK with R6 at least... not sure how it does by itself these days).
For getting the stash tab asap, I wouldn't touch Monk, Wiz or Sader since their haedrig's gift requires very specific complimentary weapons and legendary items to be effective, severely limiting effectiveness to quickly jump to T10 farming. I've had some Monk players say they've gone 600+ paragons without seeing a Fist of Az.
@MugsyAU: Well, in my opinion "finishing the journey" also includes the set dungeon. You wouldn't do the solo GR push with your Haedrig's set (in S8 none of the Haedrig's Gifts can be considered "easiest" for solo GR pushes) so you have to farm another set anyways. Interestingly, for all but monk the Haedrig's Gift in S8 might end up being the easiest or one of the easiest set dungeons. For all classes but monk (U6) the set offers a ridiculously easy set dungeon. Monk's U6 isn't trivial, but so is the entire season journey on monk - the solo GR also isn't as easy as on WD/Crus/DH, for example. On the other hand, monk is the only class that can be both support and DPS in group, which makes it very versatile and sought-after in group play.
So after all, again, I wouldn't base my choice on the Haedrig's set.
On the other hand, if I were to do so, I wonder how the classes compare? I tried to do some research on "T10 farming builds" for each of those sets, and it looks like none of those is really easy to setup. You can find amazing guides of people roflstomping T13 with either of those sets, but it's always with insane gear and 100% In-Geom uptime - but I know from trying some of those that it's not as easy as it looks. I haven't decided yet which class I'm going for, but I'm 99% sure that I'll farm another set as soon as possible because none of the 6 starter sets to me stand out as easy T10 starter farming builds that work without proper supplementary gear.
Good comments, as always, Bagstone. I am undecided too on S8. A Wave of Light Monk is probably in the top 3 builds for sheer farming speed, and I have not done him in awhile. So, I'll probably farm for those Sunwuko pieces right off the bat, and then open the Headrigs gift bags on a Barb and do an IK HOTA build. So fun and a simple rotation.
I don't know how many of you have been playing since the free sets started but I've been keeping a list of Hedrig's Gift for every season.
Seasonal Sets

Wizard: Firebird’s Finery
Season 6
Barbarian: Legacy of Raekor
Crusader: Armor of Akkhan
Demon Hunter: Embodiment of the Marauder

Barbarian: Wrath of the Wastes
Crusader: Roland’s Legacy
Demon Hunter: Unhallowed Essence

Season 8
Barbarian: Immortal Kings Call
Crusader: Seeker of the Light
Demon Hunter: Natalya’s Vengeance
Monk: Uliana’s Stratagem
Witch Doctor: Spirit of Arachyr
Wizard: Vyr’s Amazing Arcana
Immortal Kings Call is really good for solo rifts, support, speed farming and GR's, speed farming is done by introducing 3 Raekors w/ RoRG. You can also pair with Wastes if you want more versatility. IMK solo uses HoTA but is dependent on Furnace and Aquila, GR80 is about as high as you can go.
Seeker of the Light is really good for solo rifts and GR's, you have one of the highest survivability as well as a decent amount of damage to go with it. However this set doesn't really have much going for it past GR81, in order to even make this set work you need Furnace, ORoZ and Unity.
Natalya’s Vengeance is really for speed farming that's about it, Nat has the highest mobility in the game, you might be able to do a few GR's but not above GR86 you might be able to push for 90, you'll need CoE and Aquila.
Uliana’s Stratagem is for really for people that like to speed farm T13 bounties and solo rifts/gr's, highest GR is around 87 maybe 90...not really much support unless paired with Inna’s Mantra.
Vyr’s Amazing Arcana is really for people that like to solo content, do high GR's and run bounties, you can also pair it with Firebird (doesn't really need the Vyr's, can hold it's own without it) and Tal'Rasha (you need a mix of the set plus RoRG) you can reach up to GR110 with firebird, vyr's seems to only goto about GR97.
Spirit of Arachyr is really good with speed runs for bounties in T13 utilizing chickens and firebats called the angry chicken build. This set is also good for support roles, however highest GR is in the 50's area without help.
I'd also include mastering the set dungeon. Sure, if could be put under 'Finishing the journey' but for most part, the objectives in the journey build on top of what's come before. The set dungeon is a whole different beast in itself and there's typically one set per class that has super easy set dungeon. Ah yes, the set dumgeon, it is indeed a wicked curve on the road to completing SJ. Been a pita to me since S5 until S7, when I planned at the start how to beat it. Getting a starter (I've never finished with it, for reasons Bagstone outlines) set that is a simple setD is just gravy.
IK6/R4 sat on top of the leaderboard for a month, +1GR over #2...got bumped, came back in hours and was +1GR again. I'd say it does rather well up to the low 90s....and is an easy switch to R6/IK4, but not as much fun as MotE.
Having solved the setD problem for S7, I got to encounter the other Journey 'curve', the speedrifts. A lot of incentive to go DH if just around for a stash tab should speed be a need again.
'Fist of Az' - well, waiting for it to drop will take a long time....but being proactive with rare upgrades, it was a rather short effort for me.
Thanks to all for an enjoyable read!
@virpyre: Very good summary. (And yes, if you read previous posts in this thread you'll realize that we all have played all previous seasons and deduced the sets from that, this is what the thread is about ;-))
I like how you elaborate on the sets for each class - just one thing to keep in mind: by the time you're pushing GR80+, you're very likely to have *all* sets for this class available. You won't really push GR80+ before paragon 500-700 usually, and at around paragon 300-500 usually you have other sets (of course depends a lot on what you play, how efficient, and if you're lucky or extremely unlucky with sets). However - for GR solo pushing the starter set doesn't matter. However, if you're really only after the stash tab, it is actually a valid consideration as you're likely to play ~10 hours or more with it.
I'm actually completely reconsidering my choice: I thought before "the last class I'm gonna play is monk because it might take the longest". However, last season we were in a group of 3 (2WD+1DH) and despite being among the first in the beginning, hitting rank 1 on day 1 a few times, we were falling behind once we reached GR50-60 because of the lack of pull/support classes. So I'm thinking to play either barb or, even better, monk, for offering this support that we lacked. For solo, I'd probably play DH or WD and try to get UE or HT as fast as possible since it's ridiculously easy and fast, from beginning to end. DH is a bit faster at farming, WD is a bit more the "brain afk" spec which I like as after 30h+ on the opening weekend your brain simply isn't active anymore...
Spirit of Arachyr is really good with speed runs for bounties in T13 utilizing chickens and firebats called the angry chicken build. This set is also good for support roles, however highest GR is in the 50's area without help.
On the other hand, monk is the only class that can be both support and DPS in group, which makes it very versatile and sought-after in group play.
Yeah, if one was going to continue playing to push GRs, Monk is the one class that seems to tick all the boxes. They're not as good as DHs for speed rifts but still doable once you get a bit of damage and sufficient paragons in you.
But for those who only do seasons for the stash tab (assuming that's all drizzt_ is after) haedrig's gift makes a big difference.
There is really nothing to test in the ptr, they are not adding any new features.
However, this does not mean that there wont be a small patch, with a handful of buffs or bug fixes. Past patches have had things like pet drops, modified set dungeons, difficulty levels, etc... to test, none of that is coming out for S8.
Back on topic.
I am personally going with Barb, my love child from vanilla through S5. I took a detour maining WD as I love pet builds. But it is time to go back to my true love and see how far I can push the limits!
I see I am not alone in my 'lack of passion' for the cursed set dungeons. I took WD for S7 as hadn't played that class in over a year. Arachyr's set dungeon ranks as easy as Barb IK and Crusader Invoker (your opinion may differ though). WD no set was also very simple.
I also base the choice on 2 or possibly 3 of the conquests. S8 is a first for me to do all of them (with WD).
S5 I chose Wizard, ended up rolling a Crusader just to do the 45no set challenge and Invoker set dungeon. Just went for the stash and retired back to NS
S6 chose Barb and DH for the 350 kills at chest conquest. This season played out better, stayed right to the end
S7 chose WD based on comments for the set dungeon being easy. Found the whole journey was rather enjoyable, for the first time. In to the end as well.
S8 most likely will go WD just to ensure I get the final stash quickly. Not sure about after gaining the stash, NS chars need a lot of TLC
Each season I also created a HC char, just to play, not anything serious.
This being said, we do not know what (or if) equipment will be updated. Hoping not too much of a surprise.

I am thinking about taking this route as well.
Using the time from now until season 8 start to work on my NS toons a little. Then get my final stash tab in season 8, and back to NS. Augments have deterred me from enjoying seasons. So much so that I think augments and paragon have destroyed seasonal play and its validity. Paragon needs to be capped, and imo augments should be an era only feature. Make seasons about a quick push for ancient min/max gear and skill, why is time played the largest weight in the formula?

Not even a PTR.
Just a week gap from S7 to S8.
Didn't go WD last season as I wanted to play something I normally didn't play. Sooooo I went Monk.
As I'm just pushing for the stash tab, WD it is this go round.
