I've seen someone mention it but it is a very big issue in my opinion:
Since there are are no Respecs and skill are reAdjustable,
after 1 month of the game people will actually have characters that already finished normal at least once.
now since its utterly stupid to begin a new character that you already own from scratch (you can respec - duh!?) then all the normal mode (and further ahead lets say 6-7 months - even nightmare) rooms will be empty.
the ammount of new players will be slim as time passes ..
bear in mind that each new player will finish normal mode in ~10 hours
and never coming back!
I don't see the problem... If you have 5 chars past normal, why would you want to go back to normal in the first place?
Even if you're a new player (or late reroller). There will always be enough people playing through normal. You only need a max of 3 others...

Each region is going to have hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of players, all on the same server. Thus combined with the below points, your hypothesis becomes moot for years to come:
1. Not everyone is going to rush ahead at the same pace. Some people are just super slow or casual.
2. Most people will not have all 5 classes outside of normal for a good number of months/years, thus there will always be people who are running normal.
3. New players will be joining the game constantly.(I still see Diablo 2 all over the shelves of retailers to this day)
4. Some people actually will roll new characters of the same class, just cause.
5. People are going to want to twink out characters for PvP at various level ranges.
6. People are going to get themselves banned and will have to re-buy the game to satisfy irresistible cravings.
7. Some people actually have friends, and will rush/run with them through the levels.
8. Your children will still be playing this game, because at the pace Blizzard has pumped out Diablo's the next in the franchise isn't due for another 25 years.
1- Millions of ppl will play diablo 3 ( we dont know yet but since d2 sold almost 2 million in 1 years 11 years ago id say it wil be alot )
2- Ppl are able to sell character . Lets say im a lvl 60 wiz with decent gear but im sick of playing a wiz . I sell him make a new toon that i can gear with the e-balance i earned .
Take d2 for example , game is 11 years old and if you go on USeast NON ladder there are still ppl making new toon running tristram ETC ( even if they have a hhigh lvl one that they can respec )
I don't think you have to worry. sure it will be thinner than release but that's expected. the aim of the game it to progress. its like saying there will be no one in the starting zones for wow, well there isn't because there exploring the newer content.
There will always be re-rollers and new players. hell i have to level 5 characters to level 60 and beat infernal, not to mention help my mates do the same. ill be doing normal a few times im sure.
people play at different rates? people will make all the character classes people will have multiple of each class because although u can reskill whenever u want, doing so will destroy your runes so?
essentially... your worried about nothing?

shall be my brother..."
seems like a problem but its not gonna be one, saw a post yesterday about a guy playing hes necromancer to lvl 43 for a long while. there will always be players, slim, maybe but there will be new ones.
but compare it to the ammount of lvl 60 ppl there will be... well omg
but guys, we dont know yet how "hard" it is to hit 60 in the first place

Will it? I thought u can take out runes, tho they will be bound to the skill they were in. It means after getting rune-set for 1 build u don't have to start new character, u just get new runes for another skill-setup. And sooner or later u will have runes for all possible skill-combinations for that class. And u are able to switch between them with no penalties/fees at all.
I'm not sure why no one being at Normal difficulty is a problem. Say we're in a fantasy world where there really actually is no one playing a Normal difficulty: everyone who has the game has 5 characters past there, and no one new is joining the game.
Is this actually a problem? Why is this a concern? "No players at the Normal difficulty of the game is a problem because _________." Fill in the blank.
It seems to me that OP is looking really hard for things to be concerned about.
people still play diablo 2, there are still people on normal in diablo 2. diablo 3 wont be any different, people will grind normal to help themselves in nightmare. theres no way its going to take 1 month for people to be normal, theres no way it ll take 6-7 months for people to beat nightmare, i can see people on inferno within maybe the first or second month after release.

Went outside today, the graphics were ok. But the gameplay sucked
I have a question OP, why do you need more people for normal? Any new player that starts that play in co-op will almost certainly be forced to continue co-op since they won't be as good alone. It's better to start out alone and then group up than to group up first then try alone. Also Blizzard has already said that normal will be very easy, so going alone as a new player shouldn't be any trouble. Ofcourse you might die sometimes, but that is how you learn to be careful.
but guys, we dont know yet how "hard" it is to hit 60 in the first place
Sure we do. Blizzard (Jay Wilson) has said it multiple times that you'll be lvl60 towards the end of Hell.
I expect the most hardcore players to be that by the end of the first week after release.
ARPG fans will probably play it (d3) to death without any prompting. Those "most hardcore," players will be over and done with the game in a few weeks. Most players will fall somewhere in between the diehard fan and the diehard looser, err winner(perspective I guess). I don't see a problem with that.
Actually, I think I might create low lvl chars just to have some fun in the PvP arena yay!
I imagine people will also come back to Normal to experience other classes (at least once) and even start a whole playthrough with different skills than they actually "used" in their first playthrough with a given class.
Normal will probably be the most crowded environment, since it's where most of the casual players will be (and probably where they'll stop playing too).

creating multiple male barbs is irrational since its the same thing!
no one is going to have more than 10 chars (male female from each char)
"Again, lets generalize all the players some more because I have a thick head."
Some people don't need to sleep.
