First off, I think the game looks amazing. From the videos that I've seen it seems like they've done a really good job with making you feel like you have a purpose for playing within the game. As if you really are playing out a story as opposed to playing a game.
With that in mind, I was wondering if there was going to be a minimalistic ui option for Diablo 3? While the ui truly looks great, it may sometimes drag the attention to the fact that you are playing a game. I'd love to get completely absorbed playing this game and I think for that to happen the less ui in the gameplay screen the better. If there was an option to take away the chat, quest objectives, etc., and leave nothing but possibly an altered version of the health and resource globes (they do look good but bring some attention to the fact that you're playing a game I believe) and possibly a minimap, that'd be amazing.
Anyways, I was wondering if anyway felt the same way as me?
Sorry if this topic has already been brought up. Didn't find anything after a quick search.
They've talked about it before, that using mods changes the way the game is played ultimately. The addon community ran away with WoW to the point where it's not what the dev's had first imagined. I personally don't see a problem with this, wow makes ridiculous amounts of money and has a massive player base. That said I don't intend to complain about lack of mods. I think the best you could hope for is a few obvious features being change-able (probably disable/enable only though) in future patches, like mini map and skill bar/globes, maybe the dialogue boxes too.
A customisable UI is something I would certainly play with, but for my uses I think the default is fine so I won't be bummed if the option is there. I would however like a way to record gameplay with no UI elements the same way you can take screenshots.
If you didn't know you can hold 'ctrl' whilst hitting 'print screen' to produce a higher quality targa file without any UI so it's just the gameplay - we have seen that in movie form from the B-Roll's released. If that was a pulic option (like ctrl + printscreen) that would be great!!
I don't think we will see any 3rd party mods at any stage of D3.
I agree it's a feature that should be implemented but personally I doubt it will get Blizzard's attention. What is Diablo without a HUD?? D: I don't think I'll mind it though, it's really not that intrusive especially at 1080p.
