Probably not a great idea for a title but anyway....
After watching several of the streams of the beta and doing a bit of reading, I have a worry that the game is going to be short...
I know that the beta is only 1/2 of act 1, but I noticed that most of the people who I watched blew past it in about an hour and a half. After reading some of the data mining I found out how many waypoints per act, and if you take that into how much you see in the beta it seems that there isn't much left of act 1 after that after you kill the Skeleton King.
The zones themselves seemed small and not much to them. Just a few groups of mobs and small one/two room dungeon. The largest area seemed to be the graveyard where there were 3 semi-large dungeons one of which was important to the story.
Who knows maybe I'm freaking out over nothing and have been expecting to much. Cause looking back at Diablo 2 there was so much unimportant filler between quests that made you want to bang you head against the keyboard... Act 2 for example1
Blizzard said it's 1/3rd of Act 1. I have no worries myself. I've seen people take up to 3 hours and as low as 2 hours. I haven't seen an hour and a half, myself.
Your forgetting the random side quests, the TONS of content not in the beta, and then you have normal/nightmare/hell/inferno. As far as over all content I say it's easily more than D2 at the very least. Plus the replay-ability of all the content.
It's hard to say what length will be like as they could more distance between waypoints as you progress through the game. Length can also be deceiving depending on how the content is set up. Such as multiple dungeons connecting to a central area might only have one wp but could have pretty much any amount of content connected.
Challenge and enemy density can have an impact as well, making it take longer to get through an area, so a smaller area could take as long or longer to go through as a large one.
If it really is 1/3rd of Act 1 or even half of Act 1, it'll likely be larger than Act 1 was in Diablo 2.
It my video game playing career I have played in quite a few beta's and I would have to say that ~about 80% of them were nothing like what was in the retail version when launched. Sure the look and feel of the beta played was much like the retail copy but the game play and content was much different then what they allowed us to see for testing.
So don't sell Blizzard short, they haven't put millions of dollars behind projects for them to flop. If/when you get into the closed/open beta make sure you are giving feed back about everything that is not up to your standards of a great game.(unlike most of the people who don't post anything while in a beta <_< )

Courage isn't the absence of fear, it's the presence of fear yet the will to go on.
-sc2 and wow gave a good taste of majority of content
-diablo is a different type of game, can't reveal too much too soon, average player wouldn't buy a rpg based on story after having the story spoiled.
-supposedly many people played through act 1 or normal mode in previous diablo games and quit, being the reason for my logic.
of course...dont forget multiplayer. though the game is good single player, nothing quite like multiplayer with diablo. plus the side attraction of pvp. so the entire package combined should provide endless hours of enjoyment, unless you have a very extreme case of ADD.
Took me over 4 hours to carefully play through, exploring everything (well 5 hours but I took about an hour to tab out and log several bug reports)
I wasn't in a rush but I wasn't standing still either.
From my guesstimates and known information of Blizzard saying that the game will get shorter as you get closer to the end.
1/3 of Act 1 which is the beta (correct me if I am wrong - I hope it is only 1/4) Takes approximately 2-4 hours.
So from pure mathematical calculations:
Act 1 will take 3 x 2-4 hours = 9 - 12 hours
Seeing as consecutive acts are assumed to be shorter; Act 2 will take 8 - 10 hours
Act 3 = 6 - 8 hours
Act 4 = 4 - 6 hours
Which adds up to be around 27 - 36 hours of total game length through normal difficulty. (I really hope this is the case!!)
So if these basic calculations are correct, Diablo 3 will have a very satisfying game length. I know that I will be exploring everywhere and definitely taking my time to experience every little detail. So Diablo 3 should take me toward the longer play time hehe. =)
