Solution: increase MF chance by a % for each boss you or your party kills. Thus you are rewarded for clearing the whole thing and even encouraged (possibly) to consider what order you go in (linear might well be the best, who knows). You could also give an increased chance to drop something that is normally not on, or very scare on the loot table. Certain runes, gems, etc.
This is actually a pretty cool idea, possibly go a step further and have extra loot, or gold, or a random gem/rune or something drop after clearing all bosses for those who do manage to clear it all in one sitting.
That would be cool. I would do it. Even if it was .05 percent per boss heh. It encrourages an entire game walkthrough. Love the idea
Not a bad idea, the only thing I don't particularly care for is if people could team up and split into different areas to clear the game faster. It would encourage team play but at the same time I don't think you should in theory be "punished" for playing solo.

I think that Blizzard is tuning the game such that actually soloing in a multiplayer game will be very hard. So venturing on your own in a 4 player inferno game may very well be impossible. Not saying you can't solo the content if you wanted in your own game, but when playing with others you should actually play together. Imho.

That's the rumor but of course, time will tell if inferno is really that hard. Even teams of 2(instead of 4) could possibly do it quite faster, then just group up for final act so you both get drops at a higher drop rate.
So inferno mode is all level 61 mobs with similar loot tables. I'm assuming bosses will be as well.
Problem: players will still take the path of least resistance. They will find the easiest level and boss to grind over and over.
Solution: instead of just incentives (blizzards current plan) i propose that bosses all drop their own necessary components for gear sets and weapons. This will force players to farm the whole game, not just the easiest sections (relatively for inferno mode).
What do you think?
It will never be 100% even, but I'm sure it will be close enough, which means the fun factor will prevail, at least for me, but i did enjoy running more then just a few main bosses in diablo 2 hell, so I'm quite sure ill enjoy that even more in diablo 3.

I'm assuming it will be impossible, they said venturing off in a four player game will = death and this announcement was made BEFORE inferno.

If inferno isn't hard then blizzard f'd up.
Based on my previous statement I think your approach is not doable. Every time there are additional players everything gets significantly harder, the only way I see teams splitting up and being successful is if they have all end game gear. Also note if people split up they will only get loot in their screen and it will take longer to kill things so that really defeats the point of getting loot quicker.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
Add in my monster and the mechanics it comes with, than the gameplay for D3 will be enriched enough that doing runs won't be as bad as it seems.
Edge-lings will appear at the edges of your screen. One of the team members will have to turn its running mode into walking (this feature is in D2) The player who is tracking the monster will need other team members to help him/her not to be surrounded/blocked by the horde, while the player who is tracking the demon needs to watch and see when he should pause when the monster pause.
Never break the distance between him and this monster at the edge of the computer screen. And the player will use its range skill to kill it when the monster is making long pauses like eating grass, or distracted by triggered objects such as exploded barrels intentional destroyed by the players.
More co-op play's strategy and flavours can be introduced by these type of monster's existence.
It could be the size of a fleeing dragon. Or a gibbering goblin with a healthy pot of gold.
Like i said before as long as hard doesnt = taking 10 minutes to kill 1 monster.
hard should be kill one monster, die, kill couple more monsters, die XD
that was of course a softcore example
The monsters should get MEAN, not get final fantasy style hit points 9999999
