Wondering if we will get to play around with some web-skill calculators after the beta comes out, im not sure what it would entail, pick your skills, tell it what your character level is, what runes you will be using, and look at the stats, for those who dont get into beta, and even those who do, gameplay vids, and skill calculators will be a good fix
and im not counting the out dated barbarian skill tree calculator either =/

theres nothing to calculate though... you just pick your skills and passives and then put runes into your skills and thats that
wander if there's a skill type pick limit...
something like: u can only have 3 sumoning spells with WD not more, or only one high rank skill (with 2 min cd) etc...
There will be theorycrafting in about 2 weeks after release, for which combinations of skills + gearing = most dps on single or multiple targets. I expect no less from a group of gamers who have been suckling at WoW in between D2 and D3.
and damnit I love it. It must be the OCD geek in me, but doing math that is for fun stuff, is awesome.

It just hit me how pathetic this system is. LOL.
it's a simple system on paper but it ends up leading to a more broad spectrum of useable decent builds which is what they're going for and i'm all for it

Of course it's broad, there's nothing to customize to make it specific.

you settled for less my friend.
I'm not really gonna argue Blizzard's mechanics because we haven't seen what the end result is yet but all I know is that the old system sucked and I completely agree with their decision to try somethin new.
Theres still lots to calculate =/
your spell does a damage, duration, range etc, these are increased via your level, and im sure rune effects do something as well depending on rune, there is TONS to
and is it 100% confirmed no runes in beta? i thought i heard that in one of the vids but i guess my mind blocked it out.

Too much specificness would just break the game. They wouldn't be able to demand anything from the player... If people are free to creat the character the way they want, they would have to creat bosses and monster that is beatable by this wide variety of strategies.
Monsters and bosses would be just walking HP bars with some attacks and irrelevant skills since this is the only thing that is beatable by 2 billions of different strategies. Now if you can easilly swap an few skills when needed to better fit what you're facing, they can really creat demanding challegings.
People focus too much energy in building characters and too little in how fun it will be to use then.

Building characters is a perfectly viable activity in an RPG, who are you to say it is in any way an inferior activity to persue than "how fun it will be to use them"?

You must be a simpleton. It takes almost zero time to figure out how to use a skill most effectively
Diablo will be super fun for the first 6 months but after that most of the hardcore D2 crowd will move onto something else.
Modern gaming is designed for a more and more simplistic crowd. Not too cool. Sometimes I feel like wrecking my brain so I can be a dummy too

And then you realize after hours of calculations that it's over a 1 DPS difference.

is there a gear calculator? your character DPS with 'x' rune and max atk gear. Now i just need to grind for it.
or RMAH will make it happen ... lol.
Would be really nice.
bad troll is bad.
