Well to me this is all good news that we are even talking about BETA. I have waited far to fing long for this game to come out. Way to long. And just keep this in mind. They have their IT guys hooking up the servers right now They know the product they have purchased. They said it is all new. So I wish I could see a photo of that work going on . Would be cool to see where Diablo resides. Soon mates we'll have our endless loot again.

Most definitely. I am extremely excited for the beta.
here is the way I see it... they stated that it is going to be a 2 month beta AND they said it will be a rough beta(not a polished game) AND a 2011 release, so in order for them to say these statements they are already anticipating the types of fixes they will be doing(mostly server/hardware testing) and like the one poster said they are going to be working on the game as we test as well. I see it playing out like this: mid to late September beta is released goes til mid to late November. Diablo 3 is released early to mid December.
Yeah that's a pretty large conclusion to leap to, so far nothing has come out that says they're hitting any unexpected bumps--they still say a 2011 release, they still say Q3 beta, etc., which is all to say they haven't been delayed as of yet, which I think is promising. Let them beta ~1-2 months and make sure the hardware is set on their end and then launch--this is all they've said the beta is really for.
I don't see it happening this year. Figure beta starts end of this month or at lastest end of sept. Beta runs 1-2 months we are now in October - December, then you have to do any last minute polishing and tweaks, then you have to market the game with a release date and collectors edition for pre-orders, then you have to create the CD's, then im sure I am missing other stuff and bam we are already in 2012 Jan or Feb, March at latest id say.
the real money is in x-mas season. so if it's delayed they're losing money. meaning they're gonna try their hardest to get it out in 2011. they can always patch the little things later. people just want this game to come out.
As peasofme said, it is VERY likely they will be trying very hard to release before or at x-mas. Especially now that we will have the RMAH, releasing in time for x-mas would be very good move financially. People tend to get a lot of gift money during x-mas (at least in the US) and we'd likely see a lot of RMAH transactions right away. In addition to the RMAH, people are more likely to buy the game for friends/family as presents. So if Blizzard intends on maximizing its initial sales, getting it out before Dec 25 would be likely.
I don't know if you want to call this news or not, but I just read this quote by Bashiok
We're still looking good for third quarter, which is before the end of September.
We're preparing ourselves for an extremely limited, and extremely rough beta. The number of people let in will simply be dependent on concurrency of active players (we want to keep it full), and rough because we expect many issues as we're trying out a lot of new hardware and systems all at the same time. We'll get it ironed out before release of course, but while most of our other game tests have been of seemingly releasable products, we're preparing for this one to be a true beta. - Bashiok
First Rob Pardo said that its going to be TOUGH to get it out this year, but that they are still trying..
Now this from Bashiok, To be honest I haven't thought it would come out in 2011 for a while now.. But now I know 100% that it won't be.
At first they were saying we are still on track blah blah.. now its they are starting to say eeeeh its going to be hard.. and we expect a lot of problems in the beta..
TL:DR - D3 wont be coming out this year more than likely.
What a dumb assumption. Haven't you ever seen all the Press Event interview videos including those not from Force? Rob Pardo quoting that it will be tough means that they have some more things to try in their internal Alpha & do a lot of testings.
But since the press that went to that event were able to play the almost final Beta content, simply means that the BETA testing will happen this 3rd quarter.
Bashiok saying it will be rough simply indicates that they need to be able to secure the new hardware for the system & prevent the issues with Battle.net 1.0 that they expect to occur,
from happening with Battle.net being version 2.0 for the new game.
Again, they are readying the new BATTLE.NET system 2.0... it's NEW.
Honestly people, threads like this simply sucks... it's stupid & just a waste of time.
Stop ruining the mood. Blizzard aimed for a 3rd Quarter Beta release, so let's just go on our f'in ways & wait for the effin announcement. Stop making too much fuzz.
For the mean time, do something constructive here for the DiabloFans community instead.

@ Antonr_6439924, now, this is how you should see things.
[quote=Destructodave82;/comments/384214] Well, it gives me time to play Battlefield 3 and give torchlight 2 a try I guess. If I were you, I wont go about wasting my money on those other new games. You see, Diablo III will be running on a new 3D engine, so if you want to have that crisp 1080p HD clear picture when playing the game, better save your money for some video card upgrade,
or if your planning to play it on a laptop, save up & get something like the MSI GT683R.
This laptop would be able to beat any other laptop brand's performance-wise with the same price (Acer, Asus, HP, Toshiba, Sony, Dell...)
The laptop has:
--> 12GB RAM (upgradeable up to 16GB),
--> a 2nd Generation Core i-7 2630QM (2.00GHz),
--> 2x 500GB HDD at Raid 0 (if one crashes, you already have a back-up file storage),
--> & the newest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M w/ 1.5GB GDDR5 graphics memory for all your gaming needs.
Rofl first of all I'm laughing my ass off because you just told a kid he should save his money for new PC components for D3 as if its some sort of REVOLUTIONARY 3D engine that requires ridiculous GPU and processing power.. PLEASE, D3 will run fine even on 5 year old hardware.. If he is mentioning BF3, trust me I think he can run D3. So please don't give hardware advice when you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.
Second of all, I really don't care what you think of my thread, or my assumptions. If it's such a waste of time then please get out and don't waste your precious time writing another 5 paragraph reply. I don't care when you think D3 is going to be released or what you think Blizzard meant. Everyone disagreeing with me and jumping on this 2011 bandwagon is dreaming big time. I'd be happy as shit if it were to come out in 2011, but sorry it probably won't, this is Blizzard. They release games months late, even after giving a release date (SC2) and here you think everything is going to work out smoothly and the beta is going to run for 2 months. There isn't even a damn release date for the beta OR THE GAME. Sorry to crush your dreams, but its more than likely that it will be delayed.
Most definitely. I am extremely excited for the beta.
Well, we want them to be on time, BETTER!
We want beta next week.
Too much beta hype in the last week to push it into the next month.
But since the press that went to that event were able to play the almost final Beta content, simply means that the BETA testing will happen this 3rd quarter.

My PvP build would be different from these 13.
