Its hopeless to reason with players that says droprates are just fine as is. "I have a life" "I wanna play other games too" "I dont need a game i can play forever" blaaaaablaaaa kraaaa kraaa.
Has it ever struck you boyz that maybe, just maybe ...... this game is not your cup of tea? This entire genre?
It has always been about searching for epic loot, changing your playstyle accordingly as you find new stuff?
Blizzard has made tons if items with different affixes and hardly nothing is used, because you get your set within 15min after lvl70.
We have a difficulty system that is being bypassed because Blizzard sold their soul in the months following the closing of AH.
Remember the reason for shutting it down? JM (Josh Mosqueira) said that it bypassed the loothunt and that it was not the intention.
He said Diablo was about finding the loot on your own, getting rewarded for playing the game instead of AH. He had tons of good points when he closed the AH. Now we have Cain's Gift, like WTF?? we got kadala, cube, mystic, legendary gems, Ramaldinis Gift and very high droprates absolutely destroying the intent behind the game. JM sold his soul, he is a traitor. Game was just fine after the closing of AH, progression were fixed. But then came all the casuals and the game is far worse now than it was with AH. I just cant believe they willingly rekt the game.
Oh wow, you know fancy words. nonstop, lucky drop, omg what does that even mean? You draw one extreme just to counter my argument. As mentioned above, there is just no way to reason with folks like you period, and thanks for proving my point.

"Cain's Gift"
And this people are calling other players 'the casuals'. LOL.
Yellows were a thing in vanilla. I remember i actually watched a build on youtube that facerolled t6 or something with 800k dps and all yellows. That was awesome and impressive.
There's no smart loot in poe, this is bad, but yellows worth a lot there, in many cases more than most unique items. This is impressive. And crafting can give you insanely OP item as well. Nothing of it in Diablo. But we have 10 legendaries per minute.
I believe that the quality of the gear is not being used properly! I mean, what is the purpose of grey, white or blue gear in the game? Have you ever used it (other than your first 5-10 minutes of making a character?) ? The ancient legendaries are a new quality of gear if you think about it. Right above legendaries. Give them a pink color or something and call them Eternals or something like that! It's the same thing! But they too come too often! Like 10% of the time a legendary drops it will be an ancient!
For me personally, I would prefer if it took a bit more time to find "the good gear"!
it still takes a lot of time to get the good gear. the good gear is not the legendary, it's not the ancient legendary, it's the ancient legendary with perfect random stats, high rolls, upgraded with a high lvl gem. It takes hundreds of hours to get your good gear for one char. Most players just get their ancient (or not even that) and think they are done. And that's totally fine, not everyone wants to dedicate his life to a game. It's totally fine to get the basic stuff, play a build and then be done with it. But it's weird to me when players complain that it's too easy to get the good stuff, when they never got the good stuff to begin with...
Well, not necessarily complain. Just making conversation. I'd just like it if the rarity of the gear owns up to its name! Legendaries are not really "legendary"! With so many legendary items, wooo it seems there's a lot of legends out there! Legends everywhere
Personally I'm not quite sure how to derive satisfaction from doing the same thing over and over for prolonged period of time just to get 1 specific gear. I almost drop D3 in its vanilla stage and start playing more in RoS (and I know some people may bash me for this but I never really enjoy D2 apart from playing the story line).
May be Bliz has finally realized that there are quite a lot of people like me and decide to expand their target audience a bit. Although right now the issue is there is not much variation in terms of challenge in the game. So I will end up feeling bored sooner or later. But at least not as fast as what happened to me in D2 and D3 vanilla.
Also, without Haedrig's gift I will never play Seasonal. Why should I? All my best builds are in non-season and you are asking me to farm for every single thing again? Within 2-3 months period? My apology, I have other things to do in life and that apparently make me a "filthy casuals" in many people's eyes
Feels bad man...

Well, I believe that is the whole point of this thread! The fact that you CAN find everything again in a 2-3 month period of time! So the question comes up: Do you believe the legendaries are dropping too often?
Yup I know and I have already voted. I think it is just fine for me. I cannot speak for others, of course

You know there's difference.
Good gear now and good gear back then.
Good gear now: ancient item with perfect desired rolls and secondary stats, augmented with highest possible legendary gems.
Good gear then: any desired legendary\yellow item with high damage/armor stats
The difference is huge. I was steamrolling rifts like a boss when i first found Starmetal Kukri, 2 years ago. It was unbelievably rare item.
Now it's just a meh forgotten soul unless it's INSANELY SUPER good.
The definition of "good gear" narrowed to the size of a pinhead. Guys in top 100 have almost 95% identical gear with identical skill and the rest.
When we had no leaderboards and rifts it was all different and gear was still important...
Yeah, but there is a not so thin line between playing and playing and playing and not finding an item you want, and finding 300-400 legendaries a day! I'm sure some people find way more!
Just, make legendaries legendary again! It's all I'm saying!
Edit:I fcking hate my quote abilities! I hope you understand I'm quoting you Shapookya
Why would anyone want less chances of good items? As you progress your character the less opportunity arises for upgrades and then you need to start utilising all the other systems for improving items like the cube and they are a massive drain on mats. Even if you can farm 10000 legendaries an hour you will more than likely be creating 10000 forgotten souls and hour and that on its own is useless because you need other mats to start making better items or improve your chances of finding the next upgrade so its irrelevant.
The only difference now is more players get to enjoy that process and test their skills with a new build/class etc; and the extreme player base have less to brag about because others have a chance to find what they have now. I personally love how things have evolved and can now pick a class, build and enjoy until I have had enough. I don't have to farm hundreds of hours with yellows until I finally make a set and by then I'm completely bored and give up and feel like I'm getting nowhere.
I believe the answer to your first question is longevity of the game in terms of finding the gear! Speaking for me personally, I have the gear, I have the perfect gear, and I have it for some time in the season! And I'm sure it's the case for many others. The only thing that will push me higher is grinding paragon, which has nothing to do with "finding"!
It's like the game has 2 parts. 1st part is find the gear, and 2nd part grind the paragon. The 1st part is being completed far far sooner than the 2nd.
it's not a bad thing when a game ends. It is a bad thing when a game is dragged on with super low droprates, though. That's not longevity, that's artificial stretching.
This, I second that. The game should keep the players interested with new challenges that will test the players' skills. Dropping the drop-rate through the floor only challenges one set of skill - not banging your head on your keyboard kind of skill XD
That being said, there has to be some balance there. I find it ok right now since having the item dropped does not mean that item is desirable. I got bunches of legendaries and ancients but the stats are far from optimal. It enables me to play on higher difficulties but I can never dream of pushing the GR so high. So the hunt continues. This is already tough enough, at least for me

"Hope... Do not look down, my friend. Even in the darkest of times, there is always hope. Hope for a better day, hope for a new dawn. Or just hope for a good breakfast. You start small, then see what you can get."
The problem is how itemization and builds interact. Simply put, even before the free sets which just made the entire system completely broken, there's nothing to hunt for.
Builds are predefined: you stick to one set and use the skill list it provides + mandatory movement skill + big CD skill (Vengeance, Champion, etc) if available. No choice, no freedom, nothing to actually build YOUR character.
So, when you've chosen a set, you're left hunting a bunch of items which most of the times are shared with any other classes (F/R or EW) and basically you're hunting for them in a pool of useless stuff. Maybe you get that rare one for another spec, otherwise everything is just a shard.
Dropping less means only it takes more time to gather them. Too low chance, and you risk people not being able to play their character as builds are balanced around having all these items. So orange rain.
The problem is that most drops are not interesting. Having a set that does all the work has killed the item hunt as a whole.
who cares legendary items bro , after releasing 2.2. now everything turning around ancients. if an item is not ancient it is simply means crap.
thing that a legendary item chance of being an anciet is %10.so how many times can you see an ancient furnace ancent kridershot or ancient madstone like that. i mean there is lots of items still drop chance is under %2 !!! if you look this perpective the drop rates is fine may be low.
(my tought is,2 worst thing appears from the the beginning 1-ancient items 2-skill damage on item)

For me personally, May 21, 2014 was a turning point. This, i think was when game turned into a wrong direction.
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/12926172697
I will remind you that legendary drop rates were doubled permanently on LIVE that day, after the temporary second anniversary buff.
After that day, legendaries started to rain upon us. 10 legendaries per rift became "normal" (instead of 0-3).
At first i was happy as the the rest of the folks, but i realized as well that loot hunt is no more. Everyone started gearing in a couple of days....
The emphasis of Diablo immidiately switched from gear to paragon grinding.
I can remember i completed D3 2 times in a row on normal level difficulty before i found my first Goldskin on vanilla. That was awesome.
In Diablo 2, i spent weeks playing without a single set legendary drop...
But when you finally got some that feeling was insane.
While i do understand that droprates will be untouched for sure, as people already accumulated all gear they need.. what's your opinion?
