One thing I HATED about world of warcraft is the tiers of gear kept increasing, and you would have the BEST gear one month, then the next month it would get increased a little, all that work down the drain!!! One thing I loved about diablo is that items didn't really change too much, and even when new items came out they were of same level based on their rarity. I don't want to have to keep farming items to keep up with competitiveness. .. Yeah so, someone comfort me and tell me this won't ever happen. THXXX

It won't be nearly as gamebreaking as WoW IF it happened (which would be down the road during a major expansion where level cap and such would maybe increase anyway) so I'm guessing that wouldn't bother you all that much especially considering you can take out the gems and such from your gear.
Anyway just because you asked.. it won't ever happen
This sort of will happen but there are far more builds in Diablo 3. The *best* gear will only be best for your current build set up. If you want to try a new build; chances are you are going to need to get new gear to go a long with it.
Yeah, because WoW didn't have different sets for different builds >.>
I don't get your complain. You want to be able to gather one best gear and then what? Diablo isn't WOW so you can do a lot of things after reaching the maximum level. Diablo is about leveling and getting loot, that's it. If you get the best loot you shold stop playing waiting for the expansion to, probably, be able to level up a little more.
So, if they kept making new gear monthly, would be good, not bad. But I don't think that will happen at all. Maybe in some big patches or only in the expansions.
I couldnt agree more. I realize that blizz has a huge following due to WoW but all the WoW fanboys need to realize that the diablo series is nothing like WoW and the one thing i can only hope for in this game is that blizz remembers that too and doesnt turn this into a fast paced WoW
I'm sure it will happen in D3. I think most people would be disappointed if Blizzard didn't add any new gear. I think freshening up the item list every year or two i pretty reasonable.
Obviously new items will be added at the very least with expansions. Can you really imagine an expansion with new areas, monsters, but no new items or anything else?
Also, how can you quit a game that's not even out yet? I think that's usually just not buying it.
In WoW; their generally is 1-2 PvE builds and 1-2 PvP builds per class... that's it. And yes I played for four years and guess what? I had 2 sets of armour for all my mains; never needed any more than that.
So no; WoW is regulated by TIERS and there is usually always a BEST item. This is not the case with Diablo. There are items of TOP QUALITY that are equally good depending on situations.

In D2, there were usually multiple high-end items that were compatible with a given build. While I don't remember specific build names, I do remember there were about 4 acceptable unique chestplates I could use for my BoneSpear build and the difference between them was a slightly better offense, or a better resistance ratio, or better stats (which meant more hp and bock ratio) - small things like that.
This word "competitive" keeps being thrown around.
There is no competitive in PVE, not really. You clearly won't need only top tier items for hell mode because a lot of top tier items won't DROP yet (Inferno may be another matter, we'll see). So whatever you have going will probably be good enough. It's not a VS game.
EXCEPT IN PVP!
But in PvP build + skill + passive synergy and skillful play will far outweigh the 5% extra power the top tier items will give you over the much cheaper and more common next best things. So it won't matter that much.
Better top tier items being patched in (or expansioned in) every once in a while keeps the level capped players interested by giving them something to be striving for. If you don't want to keep up with that part of the game, that's your choice.
Edit* And those dudes talking about groups of top tier items rather than a single best set are spot on. So there's even the opportunity to give more choices when creating new top tier items by diversifying and expanding the good class items bracket.

God damn, you people cry a lot.
Imo this constant gear changing only makes the game more freshing. If D3 have an constant stream of new stuff i will love it!
