Im not really a fan off "single player" but in saying that i would like to think diablo 3 caters to all players needs,
In SC2 I think not 100% on this only what i remember, you logged into bnet on your computer one time saved the details
and you could play it still in some kind of single player mode, im not defending or arguing anything
My question is, for those who know sc2 well enough, was this option worth while, was it there for playing offline in some way
I m just trying to work it out, they didnt say no single player they said no offline, so basicly log on once and hit like "play mode" or some junk, is that right,
or is it as massive as ppl are saying and without being online throught battle net you cant play?
Thank in advance for clearing this up guys
I was sure they had some kind of feature in SC2 that alowed game play offline, and similar was said about SC2 pre-launch
I'm a bit confused by your post but I'm guessing your asking if there is a way to play Diablo 3 offline when it comes out? the answer is No, unless they change their minds.
You can play the game alone but you must be online and be logged into your battlenet account, what happens if you terminate your connection after your in the game i don't know.
Everyone will be playing online. If you want to play alone you will still have to log in. You'll just have to make a private game. There wont be a separate area for single player characters, everyone is online.

You won't be able to play anymore.
No connection, no playing.
If you want to know why this is so: Because if they allowed you to play even 1 second while disconnected, then cheating would be ridiculously easy.

Ahh ok thanks, so its not known if people will need to hold an active connection to play just that they need to be logged in at the start.

It -is- known. You WILL have to. With no single player mode and no offline character, its just plain logic.
I really hope they do enable a form of offline play, why not just have a simple offline character creation system like in D2? Otherwise they're alienating a huge market. I'm going mad with anticipation for the game, but what if I found out about "no offline" while I was living in a rural area where online was not feasible, or in the armed forces, or in a country with weak internet support? I'd be devastated.
I know plenty of people here which will not be able to play the game.
I'll consider myself lucky.
edit: here means "in Italy" not on this forum.
Well thats kinda because Telecom Italy suck the most ass of all internet providers in tha world ..
I know what I'm talking about, got 3 mates from there I'm basicly deaf on my left ear coz they yell so much every time it disconnects xD
And not just Telecom Italia, but every telephone operator here has problems.
It's more about infrastructure than quality of service, since plenty of people who live uphill or other remote place still browse the net via 56k modems, go figure.
Oh well, in the year 2222 when you guys will experience teleport we will probably have a worthy DSL connection.

In D3, you can't. At all. You must be connected to battle.net to play, in any way.
I dont remember any one saying you couldnt do somthing along these lines
open d3,
log into battlenet.
click single player.
play solo and gain achivs and such?
they just said internet is a must.. like they siad for SC2?
is that not a possible option? I seen nothing that siad no single player.
sorry this may sound like im aruging a piont im not, just trying to get my head around it is all
