i thought about the inferno level (not 100% confirmed)
i think it will be amazingly cool if the inferno level is granting you a considerable amount of MF and rare availability but with the cost of "REAL" death.
in other words:
i wish blizzard will make inferno deaths function as hardcore death.
this way you'll get a very exciting tradeoff between MF end game and caution -the fear from dying.
in D2 some high end players still played nightmare difficulty runs.
that means that not anyone aims to play hell.
here its the same: inferno is not a MUST.
its optional, its always there, not an obligation. it sits there and you know its there.
that adds a new level of excitement.

any thoughts?
Why would somebody who plays softcore because they don't wanna lose their character ever play inferno then? I say keep hardcore and softcore separate no matter what, otherwise the game loses celerity. Also with thoughts on inferno.. I'd think it'd be an incredibly hard difficulty with maxed out mobs and only for lvl 60 characters. A difficulty where a group of ghouls is actually terrifying instead of just another encounter... that way softcore players will have a very very hard time getting through and hardcore players will truly be.. HARDCORE!!! lol
In any case I'm sure we're all excited to hear it be confirmed or denied and if it's confirmed we'd all love to know what the hell it is!

The thing is: inferno is optional. you dont have to play it. it really aims to the high end players who need more excitement and willing to make the next big step in order to get great items.
Nah, that's why there's a normal and hardcore mode. Your idea will kill non hardcore players and will make them not to play Inferno (difficulty setting not official yet).

I love all loot fest kind of game! I will be playing all of them for the next few years. Loot fest games I'm looking forward to: LotR: War in the North,Torchlight 2,Borderlands 2 and of course Diablo 3.

This is based on your own personal speculation, you don't actually know this.
Agreed, real death in Hardcore only... Both give their own inferno difficulty.
well said, the OP's idea robs the Hardcore players of Inferno difficulty. Also, the entire reason there is no RMAH for Hardcore centers around the perma-death aspect. They wouldn't have made that distinction only to add a perma-death option to softcore later. Nor would they simply add perma-death in any form to softcore with a hardcore mode already implemented.
Even if Inferno IS optional you'd be alienating like 90% of softcore players who don't want their character deleted. Also if Inferno is super difficult and hardcore, what is it on hardcore mode?

If it's hardcore in softcore then you have to assume that in hardcore mode itself... you would be in a hardcore mode within a hardcore mode.
Maybe Inferno Difficulty has harder, more randomized mobs. Maybe monsters you'd normally see in act 4, would be in act 1, and so forth. Perhaps boss encounters are more frequent, and much harder. Equivalent to the fights of Uber Diablo and the Three Prime Evils in Chaos Tristram back in Diablo II.
I think that inferno would be absolutely amazing if you HAVE to start at the 1st act and play through, no skipping to the final act, THEN if you die, that game is over. You have to start a new one. This would be absolutely amazing with the obvious reward of significant drops etc. Any thoughts?

As awesome as that sounds, I think it is unrealistic for the development team to implement it. I think that the team would want to avoid players from HAVING to stay up for hours upon hours to complete the end game mode. I would totally be down to do it, but for a casual game like Diablo, I think this won't make it into the game.
Hey guys. Don't mind me. I'm just going to merge the active discussions on this really interesting development! Go about doing what you were doing. Nothing to see here!

Thats the glorious part though...the casual is norm nightmare and hell, with inferno being the 'add-on'

:inception:
Exactly.
Or better yet, OVER max level. After all, Inferno needs to be more challenging than Hell mode, right?
