3.) IT'S 2011 GUYS. Being online isn't a big deal.
Incidentally, nowadays being offline is a big deal. I know I personally get really upset if my internet goes out for a few hours due to my crappy ISP (even if I had no plans on using the internet).
At least this way those of us who want to earn items the old-fashioned way can make money off the people who don't. If I can make my 50$ back I'm playing for free!
In all honesty, who doesn't have decent broudband now-a-days? Most online games now require you to have internet to play, it's a poor reason to complain about. If you honestly have internet that is that bad, then you might want to look into upgrading if you want to enjoy any online game or just internet browsing. If anything I'd hope it to ween out those with poor connections, who wants to play with someone who is laggy and slows down/ruins the party experience any ways?
If you don't want to use the cash AH then don't; if you want an environment without the AH then play HC or don't play. Picking one decision out of 3 isn't a hard choice, you either play SC, HC, or don't play at all. Give it a chance, worst case is you play until you make your money back in the AH for what you paid for the game and quit. I'd rather see any extra revenue going back to Blizzard and the players rather than see njaguar, botters, and hackers make another cent off Blizzard personally.
Skill point customization doesn't affect me; hell all of us made cookie-cutter builds. This just eliminates setting everything up perfectly for the same result.
Not to offend anyone directly, but whining like this makes you seem very immature and reminds me of my kids. It's a game, you play it for fun. If it's not fun you quit; if it's not for you then don't buy the game. If you don't like change and progress then continue to play D2; in all I bet 95% of you complaining will still buy the game. D2 is an eleven year old game, you can't expect it's next installment over a decade later to be exactly the same with upgraded graphics. End of rant.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.

I don't care about the Real Money auction house because it doesn't direct affect the way I play the game. If someone wants to buy the best gear, great! I'll still do my best to defeat you without the same gear.
What really angers me is two things, the way they are changing skills and passives, and their outlook on the PvP scene.
Their skill system caters to casuals who are easily frustrated by having to put thought into they way they build, and goes back on their original idea of making every level feel like you've accomplished something. You don't need to remove the skill tree completely to balance out the usage of skills, you just need to balance it, which it seems like Jay Wilson is completely against doing. If there's a problem with their ability to balance their skills wit a skill tree, it means the spells lack utility and each one would just be a different way to do damage simply. If fact I saw runes as a good way to fix that, by being able to add utility to the moves you have that do less damage than the few main damage moves you have.
A fix to the system I was thinking of would be a mesh of the two. On the early levels, say up until level 30 like they're working on, allow people to just unlock skills and passives. That's fine, but Post 30, it should unlock some type of skill type in which you get points to upgrade your skills. It would still cater to the casuals who want to just pick up the game and play, and add some more depth and pride to your character for the later game.
As for PvP, I'm extremely disappointed that Jay Wilson is almost completely neglecting it. It may not have been a huge thing is D2 or D1, but they could go so far with it, and they could even do this without making it an "E-Sport." Even simply adding a ladder system, something to make people compete, even if it's still just for the fun of it. You can make a game competitive and still keep it from being an E-Sport.
TLDR: Skill changes need a rework and the attitude towards PvP needs to be changed, even if it means delaying the game.
What? Sure, re-playability as in the 5 available classes, but who would play the same class over again when it will inevitably be the same setup again and again? People played the same c;asses before because there was always something new to build skill wise with them, but now no matter what you make, they will be the same, time and time again. Even with customization from gear, it's not like you can't store gear for different set ups on the same character within their stash, so people won't be replaying classes just to use different gear with them.
Please link me to the post where Blizzard directly says that each class will only have 6 skills and 3 passives in their entire tree? Do you not get that you will still have to choose which skills you will want to use? You aren't stuck with the same 6 skills and 3 passives for your entire life so I don't get how you can't understand this...
Not only this but what is keeping you from using whatever skills you want to instead of following the Cookie Cutter build? Are you all just brainless zombies that have to do what everyone else does? That's exactly what it looks like.
I never said that? I understand that there will still be the option to choose different skills for your available 6 slots and choose passives for you're available 3. I suppose you might have misunderstood what I meant, but I guess that can happen. My real argument there is that since you no longer choose which skills to learn and how powerful your skills are, there will be no real use in doing a re-play with a class unless you enjoy the story enough to do so. That is what cuts re-playability (assuming the un-revealed end game content they mentioned does not change this)
After going over some videos and reading again, I suppose it's not as bad as I thought it would be. However, it's still really dull that you don't get to control the power of each individual skill by use of skill points. I do understand that skills aren't static now, so that means they get stronger as you level and what not, which made this more bearable.
A: Nearly everything that drops on the ground, including gold, can be traded with other players directly or through the auction house system. Aside from certain quest items, there will be very few (if any) items that will be “soulbound” to your character and therefore untradable. We are also planning to allow players to buy and sell characters in the auction house at some point in the future and will have more details to share on that at a later date.
As the first person to actually vote for "I'm still buying Diablo 3," let me advocate for the changes made.
1.) Skill points went out because they didn't play well. How many of you can honestly say that skill points were a perfect system? Did they add some special level of depth? Or did you just max out the two skills you wanted to spam, and then toss the rest in synergies and requirements that you didn't give a shit about?
What's the point of degrees if everyone goes all or nothing?
Further, why would you experiment if that meant wasting potentially valuable points on something you didn't want to max? You would have to create throwaway characters just to try things out.
2.) On the subject of the cash AH: maybe if you didn't buy so many items from trading sites then this wouldn't have happened. It's the same reason why brick-and-mortar movie rentals went out of business. If you do things one way over and over, eventually that will become the norm.
I'm not a huge fan of the cash AH, but y'all wanted to buy your items SO BADLY.
But now Blizz hosts it, and you're mad!?
At least this way those of us who want to earn items the old-fashioned way can make money off the people who don't. If I can make my 50$ back I'm playing for free!
3.) IT'S 2011 GUYS. Being online isn't a big deal.
It's the same old thing. If everyone played nice and stopped pirating games, maybe this wouldn't happen.
Instead, Blizz opts for the most sane, rational response--an anti-piracy measure that works well and doesn't obstruct legit players very much (in fact, in a lot of ways the constant battlenet connection is a bonus).
Would you prefer they only let you install three times, and then you have to buy it again?
I can say the old skill system was better then the new one, and you are using examples from d2 with synergies... pretty sure they said they arnt gona have those. You choose your used to be 7 skills and have each one as strong as you want, that is much more customizable then a system where you put in 1 point and your done. Saying 6 skills makes you think harder about which ones you pick doesnt make sense because you still have to think about what skills you pick with 7 your just limited more.
As for your gold-ah argument your implying that everyone that doesn't want it used to buy items off sites.
And yes some people shouldn't have to play online, its unfair to say everyone should have a splendifferous internet connection.
Don't equate that to me thinking people are weak minded.
I have a problem with the way the poll was worded. It could just as easily have said, "What did you not like about the features announced today?"
It reminds me of like if someone asks an accused murderer, "Sir, will you ever murder again?" And the accused murderer is like, "No! I mean, I never have murdered anybody? Of course I wouldn't murder."
So if I answer what thing made me decide not to buy Diablo 3, it's implied then I won't buy Diablo 3 based on my response. Even though I wouldn't not buy the game based on my disklike of this or that.
I'm still buying it, but the recently announced changes may make me choose HOW I want to play the game now. Originally, it was for pure fun and excitement. Now I have to choose between that and monetary gain.

I don't get it. If someone buys it, it doesn't matter what they dislike, they just vote the last option. You're not supposed to vote on anything else if you're buying it, sine the poll directly asks you what makes you NOT buy it. If you dislike something but it didn't make you change your mind, then you're voting "i'm buying it", aren't you?
Maybe the poll -was- badly worded but I thought that was the obvious way to vote.
This is as stupid as the "boycott modern warfare 2" group on steam. On day 1 of launch of MW2, 97% of people in the steam group could be seen online playing Modern Warfare 2. You vote now that you won't buy it, but you know you will.
That's a good way to think about it.
Monk > Wizard > Barbarian > Demon Hunter > Witch Doctor

What a douchey poll. What made me NOT want to buy Diablo 3? You're all buying the game still. Don't pretend you aren't.

People who are upset make the most noise.
It is a loud minority vs a quiet majority.
Such is life.
I personally like what I saw and of course I am still planning on buying the game.
