Do you think Blizzard will release a world builder for arena battlegrounds only?
I know D3 PvE world maps are randomly generated, but arenas are PvP only.
I can see how this could be troubling, maps created this way should be uploaded on the servers since we are not going to have LAN PVP, right? Also I think they may need some testing to avoid locking/crashing issues. And probably servers will be flooded by tons of maps.
Even so, I think this may add something of value for many players and add variety to the game.
Would you like something like that in the game?
I don't think it will happen but I definitely like the idea. Arenas are a lot more simple than an editor for the whole game. I'm sure plenty of people could make some pretty interesting and fun maps for PvP.

I know Jay Wilson answered this a while ago, but I'd like to see some sort of ability to customize UI. Not to the degree of WoW, but allowance for at least SOME customization (possibly the way it looks?) would be pretty neat.

I was trying to make Red Alert 3 worldbuilder to work and began to think about a D3 worldbuilder.
Then I realized there will be too much troubles for a worldbuilder to work so I thought an Arenabuilder could be simpler and still interesting.
Trying to setup a nice layout with breakable stuff and such could be interesting.
Yet, if we are not able to play Lan PvP I can't see user created maps to be in any way playable.
So I think it will remain wishful thinking.
I can understand a need for add-ons in WoW; like threat meter etc.
But changing things just to change things, seems pointless. Unless you of course can do it better than Blizzard - in which case you should give them a call.
There's nothing wrong with the UI as I've seen it, as the idea of "better" is based on personal opinion, but unfortunately I can only draw examples from WoW: some people preferred a minimalist style UI, and some prefer 3D character models with character tabs and what-not.
There are plenty of things that could be added/changed, which is where personal preference comes into play in deciding how a person wants to view their game.
Believe me when I say that I hope to one day work for a company on the caliber of Blizzard.
I don't mean to be a wet blanket here, but I just don't know if an editor is worth it for just the arena.
It seems like having a small number of tightly designed and balanced blizzard-made arena maps that you can play through the matchmaking system would be better than creating a whole custom game system for the crapton of mediocre user-made maps. It just doesn't seem like the few good maps a builder tool would end up providing are important enough to warrant the effort it would take to set up the system.
I'd agree OmniNom. Unless the arena becomes super duper popular, I don't see this as being worth while for them.
The Arena will be super duper popular. PvP is the fate of all games that don`t have a raiding system.
Diablo 2 didn't have a raiding system, and PvP wasn't necessarily the primary pursuit of all (or even most) high level characters.
PvP will undoubtedly be popular, probably more so than D2, but with the arena system, a variety of maps isn't really needed.
If PvP was expanded to include a variety of game modes and larger teams, maybe more maps would be beneficial. But for small teams with the simple goal of "kill everyone," I don't know that we really need more than the one (or possibly small handful) of arena maps we'll get from Blizz.
Again, I would be fine with Blizzard releasing a few different arena maps, but I don't think player-made maps are really warranted. The resources and time required to make this tool and the battlenet system to support it isn't worth the probably meh results. Not enough bang for your buck.

I'm pretty sure that majority of Bnet players aimed PvP as their final goal - a few days after ladder reset ofc.
About map variety, you might be right. I really can't see the need of player made arenas.
I agree that idea that PvP will likely be very popular. I feel even die hard PvE players will eventually try PvP just for kicks, and some of them will like it enough to continue participating in it regularly.
While I don't think Blizzard will incorporate a make creator, I do support the idea. Though I feel if they released such an editor with release, it would hurt the initial impact of the game. If such a feature were to come to light, I'd bet it would be with an expansion.
Broadening the topic a little, I'd love mini games in D3. I don't play SC2, but the tower defense/card game style mini games look ridiculously fun in their own right. I'm positive if Blizzard wanted to they could implement mini games in D3, though again I don't feel this will happen :(.

Also, world maps aren't random. Overworld stuff is static. Dungeons and caves are randomized.

Sorry, I was thinking about scripts and such and got confused

Maybe that's just me.
