Does anyone know how much time there was between the announce of the starcraft 2 beta at the investor call and the start of it? Thought it might give us a better idea of how much time after the 9th(if the announce does happen) we will still have to wait.
I think forming expectations of one production slate based on a the production slate of a vastly different product is a dangerous idea.
These are two different teams, and there are more differences between D3 and SC2 than similarities. Any conclusions reached from discussions like these are usually set-ups for disappointment. Why? Because we all twist the data points to fit our theory that we will get the game really soon.
I like to keep it in the short-term.. i.e. what's the next big update I'm stoked for? Or, what sub-system can I theorycraft about now that we got a screenshot that reveals something..

Dolaiim u r too sceptic and what i said is the more/less time.. look
9 may cof call beta confirmed
1 june start of beta
5-6 months beta (like stated before)
+ time between beta down and release
= late november/ december 2011
JUST A SIMULATION dont get too excited now.
I'll assume you mean "skeptical" and not "septic"
I agree with the "don't get too excited" because that's exactly what I'm saying. I always feel the need to temper these "time estimate" discussions because many people lurk these forums and can then take these mock-timetables out of context.
Blizzard uses a scrum-based, iterative, "when it's done" model, which puts completion of backlog tasks with quality before meeting target dates.
The excitement generated around "best-case" estimates like these is a large contributor to all the nerdrage when Blizzard announces a "delay."

Last conference Morhaime said they were shooting for 2011, which is easily interpreted as "we're working hard and we plan for a Holiday 2011 release, but depending on the beta input it might aswell be Q1 2012". The beta itself will have to start within the next couple months for sure to be on that timetable (best/worst case scenario). That's pretty much what the Blizzard officials said.
Korps3: Lame. People have expectations and to toy around like that isnt cool and fair to anyone. Although i knew it was a fake since a qoute like that would've been posted on DiabloFans for sure. Still very lame.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
The SC2 conference call I think was in the first week of February. Mike Morhaime said beta would start "later this month". SC2 beta officially started February 17th, although most people had to wait longer to get invited. So it was about two weeks between the conference call and beta. The thing is SC2 is a completely different type of game. This conference call has also been pushed back a few days, so the beta start date could follow a completely different timeline (instead of two weeks later).
