As far as crafting went in D2... well it went nowhere. In a sense it didn't even exist. There was no fun in it at all. Arenas will be great, if the only way to solve griefing was leaving the game than the only way to solve quest stealing is... well... making a new game. The color system is practically the same, the games resolution and quality give you the illusion that its brighter (compare it to torchlight, you can easily tell them apart) and the state system will still allow creative builds... even melee wizards.
My major concern is Battle net 2.0 and how its going to work with Diablo 3.
If you've seen some of the features from Battle net 2.0 in SC2, its completely and utterly crap.
You can't expect any kind of community to grow from such horrible system. I am not specifically targeting the lack of sophisticated Chat channels, but in general the custom game system is out of the flow.
The entire D3 is based on custom games, since there are no dedicated servers and etc. I am pretty sure Jay Wilson and his team has some creative idea to make it easier to find/search games. I feel bad for Jay since Dustin Bowder really fuked up SC2 and the entire Battle net 2.0
I just sincerely hope Blizzard wakes up and implement some neat features... They seem to be going back in time as far as Battle net is concerned. Other gaming companies put heavy emphasis on online interactions and community but I am unsure why Blizzard has not yet to achieve that.
It's no wonder why no body talks about Battle.net 2.0 being the greatest invention. It's utter crap.

Agreed. Bnet 2.0 sucks more than a low budget porn star.. Sorry for the visual.
Much more so than anything in D3 itself, Bnet 2.0 concerns me.
“We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about.” - Albert Einstein
I would say its lacking features, but its very much a work in progress. As a system to communicate with your friends its more than fine. Its not as though theres anything implemented that is detrimental to a game. It keeps track of achievements and lets you easily chat and invite other people. I don't know how that is cause for worry.
Jackzor are you familiar with Husky Starcraft the commentator? He's pretty much unanimously know as the best SC2 commentator, even being hired for Blizzcon and official events as such. He made a video a while back, about 6-10 months ago asking everyone to sign a petition on the redesign and featuring of Bnet 2.0. I honestly forget the reasons he listed, and I'll look for the video this afternoon, but he listed very good reasons both for SC2 and D3 on why Bnet 2.0 is lack luster in more than just communication.

I'm not saying its lackluster, I'm just saying that its a fine foundation for a work in progress. You can communicate across games and its incredibly easy to invite people to games. Obviously there is a lot of stuff missing, but the stuff thats in there, imo, is fine, and it will only get better. And yes, I have watched Husky's videos and know who he is. That doesn't mean I agree that B.net 2 should be redesigned.
I have to say im not sure how games will work but there should be an option to make them pvp games. As if you were playing on a PvP server in an MMO, you just create your game a pvp game, and it enables world pvp outside of your party(you cant just pk ur party). Therefore you can make your game and work through it, and if some1 comes and clears act 3 while your on act 2 you can jump on a main and deal with him.
That would be cool, in retrospect you could still make your PVE game and not have any worry in the world about people joining you and pking you on your quests.
We are in 21st century guys.
The notion of being satisfied with the most basic feature in Battle.net 2.0 quite surprises me.
Why would Blizzard even bother to call it a Battle.net 2.0 when it doesn't achieve any more than what the 1.0 did?
On top of that, the custom game system is completely out of whack. You don't know whose playing what, and for the most part you have to wait in lobby hoping someone clicks the same game, as suppose to there being a list of games waiting to be played. (People can join faster, more importantly newer maps can be played by more players) What bothers me is Battle.net 1.0 had it all right, and it didn't need any change.
If I was in a Battle.net 2.0 design team, I would have left the custom game system the same. It was good as it was, you really can't improve beyond that other than minor tweaks. But Bnet 2.0 really went back in time and made playing any custom games almost impossible. [I don't enjoy it, its pain in the ass to find a good game to play]
Secondly, achievements are great but is it really something that most people care about? Sure, it's cool for the first time and beyond that, no one really cares. [It does not suffice to grant an upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0]
The only thing in Battle.net 2.0 that gives me "wow" factor is the implementation of Auto-matching. This is the only "Good" part of Battle.net 2.0.
It's obvious that Battle.net 2.0 needs some tweaking to be done before Diablo 3 is released. There is no way that Jay Wilson and his team will use a "rushed-Battle.net 2.0 system that is on constant patch" in the mostly anticipated game of the decade. No way.... Jay saw it with his own eyes the failure that SC2 went through, not again.
After all, Battle.net 2.0 was rushed and for that reason, they couldn't implement a working chat channel couple months after the release. How do you expect anything to work properly when they work in a such rushing manner, without much iteration. According to Jay Wilson and his philosophy of iterating multiple times to achieve the best UI, theres no way he would've left Battle.net 2.0 as it is right now. not even close to what it is.... no way...
Dustin Bowder needs to be fired. (Not joking at all)
2.0 has more community friendly and user friendly features and functions. It also uses far superior anticheat programming. It's far better than 1.0. That being said I'm sure it will be tuned a lot for D3.

My thoughts exactly, if someone had have shown me what the Battle Net 2.0 Interface and Features would have been like back in 2002 I would not have believed them and would have been very confused as to why it was so feature-less and difficult to navigate.
The fact that it took them months to even integrate something as basic as chat channels into Battle net 2.0 is an absolute joke. On top of that, the channels are inferior to those of the old battlenet and so many functions like /w are missing.
Let us hope Battlenet undergoes further improvements before Diabloo 3's release.
It took them months while they were working on a WoW expansion and SC2's release. The most important stuff, ie anti-cheating measures, have been there since the beginning, and it has a fine system for playing with and talking to your friends even if they're playing a different Blizzard game. And of course its going to get updates leading up to D3's release and there will probably be a bunch of features implemented during D3's release. Obviously it was rushed since they had to delay SC2 in order to get it ready, so it was (obviously) bare bones upon release, but again, nothing thats currently implemented in B.net 2.0 is bad. Sure, the custom games might be set up a bit weird, but its better than the old system that had you refreshing the screen every ten seconds to find anything but DotA.
My only concern is clan or guild support.
