So we all know that it didn't make it in D2 even if it was planned. Do you think that it'll make it for launch, considering we do not know all of the "systems" just yet. We've also heard nothing on Mercs so far.
What we have seen are Henchmen back when D3 was first being introduced to the public. As far as I know no word on them being permanent companions.
I highly doubt that they will support Guilds or Clans. I would rather they do not support them and just focus on the game. Clans and Guilds will be able to support themselves on their own forums and such. They just need a means to be able to play with other members in the Clan.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.

But Blizzard's goal is to have a more organized, better connected Battle.net so it is easier to play with your friends. I wouldn't count out Guilds in Diablo III. They may not be anything really special, other than a roster, Guild tag, and a chatroom in the Battle.net interface, but I think they will find a system like this to keep people together.
They'd rather have people staying on Battle.net rather than Alt+Tabbing out to a forum.
I would certainly like the ability for in game guild channels at least.
I would like to see some kind of Guild roster, where you can click on a player in the Guild, and choose to look and their gear, skills, traits, PvP record. Everything.
And the "Player Preview" in the inventory screen of the first Diablo III gameplay video released would be cool to have in Battle.net. To look how a player looks, and not having to go into the game to see him.
If im not mistaken, they wanted to implement Guild support in D2 originally.
They just didnt do it...however in the past..like a year ago...I could swear I heard or read somewhere from Jay Wilson that they wanted to give something to us for clan/guild organization.
Like I said, I could be wrong, but they are bound to give us some kind of guild/clan control.
Who knows....We'll jsut have to wait for the Game..
And I also agree with GameOver, if we do get something, it should be VERY simple. nothin fancy.

The very thought of an organized clan/guild control system would be great, IMO for obvious reasons. Be it chat channels that you can open and control, sort of like with D2 right now where you can have your own channel for your guild, or having something similarly set up like Guild Wars. Could it hurt guilds if D3 is location specific like Sc2 is? Maybe to a point. But overall I for one am in hopes of a controlled guild/clan set up. And Game Over is right, it doesn't have to be anything fancy.

I'm pretty sure they'll have some kind of guild support yeah. As you've said probably for easier organization, a common chat channel and such. But also for guild achievements. It's been fairly successful in WoW (oh no! Something from wow->d3) and I wouldn't be surprised to see it in D3.
And yeah xXSoulXx, I also think I've heard them say something like that.. just can't remember when.
One thing to keep in mind about clans is that you can only have 4 players per game so clans would seem to always be split. I personally would like 6-8 players :(.

Well it would still be nice so that you can always play in games of 4 with people you know, as opposed to jumping into a random game. For example friends/guildies to play with in SC2 is still very fun and chat channels are neccessary to set games up, but most of the games played end up being 1v1s and 2v2s (I mean overall, everyone has their preference though).
I would LOVE to see clans/guild. Always having a pool of friends to ask questions, play with, trade with, talk to, get help from is a huge benefit and adds a lot of replayability IMO. If there is going to be a system and it supports large guilds, there had better be a DiabloFans guild.
My guess is that any guild support would be handled by Battle.net developers and not Diablo III developers, although there would likely be interaction between the two to achieve a cohesive goal. So, I do not believe there would be any issue with them working on such functionality.
With as big of an impact as WoW has had on gaming culture, it would be impossible for them not to look toward enhancing clan features. We saw OP channels in DII, clan channels in WC, and a ton of clan functionality in WoW. I haven't looked in to it, but I'm sure they have some manner of longterm group support in SCII. They've dumped a ton of cash into development of all of their games, into specific features, into social networking. I'm sure they could and will do it right.
