They will build on that. The extra "flair" will be added towards the late game to spruce things up a bit. I'm sure they want to get the basics down first before they add the spiffy.

If you want a darker game why not just turn down the contrast on your monitor or the in-game settings? Boom, problem solved.
Just shut up. Man, I've heard that one too many times now.
No, if you want a visually darker game that's all there is to it. You know what I've heard too many times now? "WAHHH WHERE'S MY GRIMDARK I MISS MY BROWNS AND GRAYS"
The game looks fine. The colors are fine. Play it the way it is, alter the settings to your liking, or gtfo. We haven't even seen a significant enough portion to judge the entirety of the game at this point.

same thing could be said on the "it's not dark enough" matter too. only fact that remains is that we haven't seen lategame so far to actually know how dark Diablo III gets. only parts of act 1 and 2. i suggest patience on it, the latest gameplay videos of the relatively early dungeons are more than encouraging.

No.
Its a stupid excuse for an answer. Dark has nothing to do with your settings. A dark game isn't dark just because you can't see anything or you just changed the contrast on your monitor.
I don't even care about the graphics right now, I'm fine with them (or you could say I got over it what seems like years ago).
Did anyone complaining about how D3 isn't dark enough even watch some blizzcon demo footage? Leorics Hall of Agony is an increadibly evil looking place. There are parts where huge spiked boards fall down into pools of blood and create a huge splash JUST CUZ. And thats Act 1, other than that we've only seen a desert, which obviously isn't going to be dark as far as lighting goes, but it still looks more than evil enough to earn a place in D3. And we haven't even seen Acts 3 and 4. Obviously you can't compare D2's Hell to D3's Act 1 and expect it to look just as evil. That wouldn't make sense. I'm sure D3's Hell (or other most-evil area, along with Act 3) will blow us away.
aha! these were the monsters i was talking about. they look really crap to me, really blocky and low-poly, and it's like they're tip-toeing around. thanks for the pic, ophion.
EDIT: the humans look quite good, tho.
note that these monsters never stand still. so a simple screenshot doesn't compliment them. have a look in the original gameplay footage and you'll see they're not as you have them in mind. but they got to be in motion!
Im not sure how a game can look more like D3 than D3.
The graphics argument has been over for like, 3 years, get over it please.
If this game is what you imagined D3 to be, then you have no imagination. It's just a bland, 3D remake of D2.

D3 is gonna rule. This "Path of Exile" knockoff bullcrap can go crawl back into the toilet it came out of.
I hate the way you cling to ignorance and pass it off as innocence
