I played Diablo 2 ALOT, but some things was never played much. Haven't played D2 for like a year now since my computer died, but not I have a new one, one week old Maybe I should kill the cowking again...
like a lot of people on here, i don't think i'll be playing single player. it's so much more fun to be playing with others. i've always found it to be somewhat hard too. maybe i'm just used to rushing through d2 that i don't have the patience? if they add something to single player that multiplayer won't have, then possibly.
(Oh and Jake, supporting mods and allowing mods is not the same thing. D2 did not support mods, but they existed anyway. There is always a way to modify single player, don't worry.)
I don't think thats true, though I'm no expert. But I've seen games that have never had any sorts of mods presumably because the game's files are encrypted and there's no way you can read or modifying them without some tools/something from the developer.
A lot of things in D2 were "hard coded" and without source, you can't modify them. We're just lucky there were things accessible for it to be modified, but what if now there is nothing? And I would not be surprised, since this is going to be on Bnet 2.0, where even when playing alone they prefer to have you connected, which implies having no modified files.
I'm just saying, allowing mods *is* supporting mods, in a way, because we need them to set the ground a certain way, otherwise mods will be scarce or inexistent.
Also, the first thing you quoted is about creating character online, not about focusing on multiplayer. Its not quite the same thing.
I just hope I dont have to authorize my battle.net account to play sinlge player...
Be damn sure you will have to. No way Blizzard is letting that kind of control out of their sight. You're lucky that we don't have to be connected at all time to play.
Having the source code, editing tools, or access to the files that can be edited would make it easier to mod the game. Sometimes code editing may still be needed to get some features. Otherwise would have to be through code editing alone and that can take some time to find out what the codes do.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
I feel they will open more options in the text files in later patches as they did in D2. After a few years the team will likely be small and it is easier for the team to make changes in text and only do coding if needed. Code editing takes more time and may bring in new bugs. The question is are they going to pack the text files in the mpq.
