I'm one of those guys who enjoys a massive game manual to read when, heaven forbid, I am not playing the game, such as Diablo III.
I really hope, as in the previous Diablos, it is massive for me to enjoy as some alternate toilet reading. I just like to learn as much as possible about the games I'm playing, as well as any hints or tricks that can add to my game. I hate online manuals! Like what the crap!
Collector's edition would be nice also! Soundtrack and some other goodies
What you guys think?

"So you have come here for information? I have some for you..."
I like to see a manual as well. I would like it more on the lore and the story telling. Since hints on skills and items will likely change with patches.
I think there not be much of a manual (paper). Likely be PDF or online.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
Manuals are getting smaller and smaller, to "a single paper with controls on it" these days. Its pretty lame. They say its a waste... and then they make a collector's edition. Yeah, right.
I'm not sure if we should expect a manual at all here. I don't know if SC2 is getting a good one.
I just got my SC2 (the store were i proordered it made the dumb mistake of sending me the game before the release date rofl) and the manual is lame (commands, FAQ, some useful links and a SC's and BW's story in a few pages). Howevet i've the LA version, and LA version of manuals are allways lame =\
I also love massive game manuals. It is a great read on the drive home, the install, and the toilet break you need when the main menu pops up, to prepare yourself for a long session of non-stop gaming.
I love those. But I know some games that have 100 page books, and its full of useless, boring crap.
If we had a giant game manual, which no doubt, we will have :D, I want to see this:
a) Story of D1, D2, and LOD in summary (not short summary..)
Explanation of D3, who you are, how you fit in the story
c) explanation of the 5 classes, and their backround story (short one..i want to find the full one in the game)
d) some of the basic monsters i'll be seeing.
e) how the game generally works (for noobs)..
f) hotkeys
stuff like that
in the collectors edition, which I will get..(it will be the first one i ever waste my money on for a game)
an art book
map of diablo universe
poster
some sort of item..not sure of it
and any other cool stuff

"Not Even Death Can Save You From Me" ~ Diablo (II)
While reading manuals is nice, I think it's a waste of paper. We need to be a little bit more careful with our planet and not waste trees just because we need game manuals.
We are living in the digital age, most things are on the computer and I don't see why a manual can't be on the internet or as a pdf file.
It's also possible that they just implant a digital guide with all monsters and items and lore etc you encountered in game as some sort of bonus feature in the main menu.
HOWEVER this brings up an entire other issue as to power usage, with things going on the internet people use their computers and other electrical applications more and more. Which costs power and.... oh forget it. It sucks to be an environmentalist.
Just give me that damn manual so I have something to do at the toilet.
lol, we should save our planet, but realistically, its screwed

"Not Even Death Can Save You From Me" ~ Diablo (II)
Well guys, if Starcraft 2 is any indicator towards the current trends, I would say that the only way your getting a big fat game manual is if you play 29.99 for the brady games official strat guide, or 39.99 for the CE edition of the guide.
Starcraft 2's manual amounts to 24 pages of minimal information and a little back story.
I looked through the guide briefly and it really does look packed full of information, on the bright side.
Collectors editions are overhyped boxes with the game and some random crap that does not nearly warrant such a high price. Imo everybody that buys it is silly in their head. Soundtracks can be downloaded or ripped from the game if you have the tools. No need to buy those. Just get a cd it´s cheaper.
Most manuals will be scanned and put in pdf, if you know where to find them.
And other goodies like a golden name in bnet, some plastic figurine and shit.... Is it worth it? Hardly.
Collector's Editions are only good for collectors. if i only wanted a dvd box i'd rather get a pirated copy of the game.
i like the extras. done so with Age of Conan, Oblivion, Gothic 3, Sacred 2, Assassin's Creed 2 (the Ezio figure was awesome), Wrath of the Lich King and Starcraft 2. planning to do the same with Dragon Age 2, Witcher 2 and of course Diablo 3 and Cataclysm. big boxes remind me of the old times when every game was like one of todays collector's editions.
if you're not a collector, those editions wont make a difference (other than the more room it will get and some additional avatars in game). and in your pocket, no doubt.
yeah, i agree that manuals are a waste of paper. The fact that you are pretty much going to read it once. We shouldnt keep printing out useless stuff. That being said, maybe they can put some cool info on the install screen while you are installing the game. I know some games have cool info whilst you are installing.
Also, about the CE .. i dont think its a waste of money. I buy it purely for the artbook. But that being said, i do concept art so i have heaps of these books haha.
Plus if you were to buy a good concept art book, it will cost around $40-70 ...so i think its pretty worth it.
Oh please mighty Blizzard publishers, and developers, make a amazing collectors edition. That's the true reason I've kept $150 in a special place for all this time!

Will be changed at some point, I'm too lazy right now.

Indeed. Any D3 game information will probably be accessed through B.net itself, and the manual will only include the basics: controls, back story, customer support etc.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.

I like game manuals too but that would be when I have exhausted my story books stock...and that is a rare thing in itself.
The soundtrack would be totally kickass however. Game music is at a level where it is art.

Also, I saw the price of a SCII Collector's Edition. It was priced at $99.99 USD.
i only got 2 favorites so far tho:
1. Diablo 1 - story of the game, character classes and spells.
2. Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption - was like a small book to read, simply awesome!
I love those. But I know some games that have 100 page books, and its full of useless, boring crap.

Either way, your going to have to shell out more money for any information, or as said above and wait for the .pdf's to make their way online.

The days of massive manuals are over.
