I think it would be cool if you could use a 360 controller to play diablo, it might be difficult to replace the mouse, but think of how it could make combat a little more fast paced with all of the controls right in your hand so close together instead of on a keyboard...
This looks like it might be interesting. X and Y axis for mouse control on one stick... different buttons for "Left click" and "Right click", as well as weapon swap and inventory. It might get difficult once you try to pick up items (mapping something for "Alt" and maneuvering the cursor over the item would definitely take getting used to), as well as changing the scrolling rate to be competitive.
Good luck!

Could work but lets take a moment to think here... 14 buttons is all you have to map ut the controls. You have RB LB RT LT Y X A B All 4 D-pad movements then the right analog stick free which could essentially be for swapping between a "wheel of Skills"...
So lets lay them out to what i think would be best.
Left Analog Stick - Movement
Right Analog Stick - A wheel of 4 skills like the 4 skills on the Hotbar (sets them to either RT RB LT or LB)
Right Trigger (RT) - use skill/ Attack
Left Trigger (LT) - use skill/ Attack
Right bumper - use skill/ Attack
Left Bumper - use skill/ Attack
A - Interact (trade talk etc.)
B - 5or6 on hotbar which could be a potion of some sort or an identify scroll as seen in gameplay video
X - 5or6 on hotbar which could be a potion of some sort or an identify scroll as seen in gameplay video
Y - Chat
Up -Items
Down - Character
Left - Skills
Right - Party
Start - Menu such as save options quit game etc.
So it could work but AS you can see you would be lacking some things

Besides, movement in D3 is done by mouse clicking, there are no ´arrow or asdw´ controls for movement right. (It´s no longer a game divided by 'blocks' for positioning right? Did D2 even have arrow movement?)
Just sayin'
Well, the controls are programed one way, I guess, but... Diablo 1 was on console after all, its just a matter of doing it.
But I'm all for WASD and maybe even controller support somehow (if you have WASD, you pretty much already can play with a controller). Games don't go forward by being centered in -old ways- only. And I am so convinced that some newer generation of players would much prefer WASD or using a controller.
Sf Jake said it well allot of the newer generation is so used to a controller that in a buisness perspective i see the game selling more copies with the use of say and xbox controller. When people here point to click fantasy arpg they immediatley think "gay" or "boring" but still i think a mouse and keyboard gives you the most functionality.

Or a PS3 controller... not that I'm trying to start anything. :whistling:
They are essentially the same thing only ps3 is less bulkier and the triggers are grippy but dont have that natural curve the xbox controller has so they kinda even out.

I'm hoping they do it.
