Ok so it's a no brainer that once the ball got rolling in D2 and people starting coming across better builds/items/etc. that the bosses (endgame) were EASILY soloable. Will/Should bosses in D3 be much more difficult?
This isn't WoW. There most likely won't be things like aggro tables, tanks, healers, etc. In Diablo, everyone is a DPS class (so to speak) and the boss can attack whoever the hell he feels like.
We might also see a fourth difficulty? Idk. What are your thoughts on the bosses being too easy, or possibly becoming too hard? With such randomized boss fights things can get nasty real quick, but once you obtain the proper spec/items/etc. you can easily solo the final bosses of the game (which I don't think is right).
I think the stronger you get the harder the bosses get. Also they said that when you kill a boss, the next time you come to kill him he's stronger. So, end game, i think you could solo bosses with uber gear but the bosses in overall will be hard.
I mean why would they make the game not challenging?
Edit: welcome to the forums, first time i see you around Nice nick btw.
I don't think there should be anything in the game that cannot be solo'd. The difficulty should increase when more players are in the game either by giving more health to monsters and bosses and/or make more monsters appear. I hated that hell mode on D2 was essentially unplayable in single player for the vast majority of otherwise good builds.
I don't think the bosses should be easy to beat, regardless of how many party members you have but on the same note, they shouldn't be impossibly hard either.
I agree that with the right builds and gear, bosses are quite easy, especially when in Single Player and no matter the difficulty. However, to compensate for the lack of challenge, and to somewhat inflate my own gaming ego, I use the '/players' function. So far, I have not been able to best the Council of Zakarum on Hell difficulty when playing SP and having the players set to 5. My gear isn't that good and I'm only level 84, but I have gotten some really good stuff from them, and subsequent bosses before them, such as Trang-Oul's bracers, the gloves, belt, boots and helm of the Immortal King's set, M'avina's gloves and belt, Lycander's Aim, Stealskull, Duriel's Shell and Tiamat's Rebuke. Not to mention pretty much all of the lower lever set pieces. The only ones I haven't found are Arcanna's amulet and the Infernal Cranium. But that's just a matter of time.

If you ask me, being in multiplayer should drastically alter the boss's strength, making them unstoppable sons of bitches. They should also have much higher chances to drop good stuff.
I'm a single player guy myself and I don't want a boss to be impossible by any mean, however I want a challenge, especially in group.
I think with proper scaling this is doable. Heck, I'd even give some bosses one or 2 new possible attacks for the sake of multiplayer - the kind that only groups are supposed to deal with. But thats just me.
i want some bosses that can heal themselves and have phazes depending on how low the health. il be happy with that. a heal at each phaze is the minimum standard rawrz ps. invulerability during the heal
Imo bosses should have 4 components to make it more chalenging:
1. The less important one, the bosses should require some level of strategy. Like knowing their moves and the right times to attack, using part of the enviorment at your advantge (like hide behind a column to avoid a powerfull spell), etc...
2. Good evasion. Bosses should fill the entire screen with special attack of multiple parterns and you must avoid then, like those old school arcade spaceship games.
3. Limited area. You shouldn't be able to retreat as you like. You have to kill the boss or die, no third option.
4. As all classes of diablo are DPSers i think most bsses should have a significant HP regenration. You have to kill then fast, you must be competent and focused or else eh will kill you because you run out of health/energy.
Thats my opnion. Those elements are only nessecery on hell though. In normal the game should be relativekly easy and nightmare should ve a middle ground.

I like that.
-In normal, a boss should just wander around using regular attacks with little health regeneration. You can use exits as you like.
-In nightmare, a boss would start to use SOME special skills that require you to move or attack at a specific time. They should also have slightly more health regenerations. You can use exits, but when you do they regain 1/2 of their lost health.
-In hell, a boss should use mostly special attacks that require you to move or react at a specific time, the spells would be much larger (AoE) and they would have significant health regeneration. All exits are blocked.
I like what they are doing with boss difficulty, i love the look of the boss difficulty in the outdated game play trailer. that was probably only on normal difficulty too. Just wait til' we see a real boss, like Azmodan or one of the primes. they are sure to be a truly epic encounter no matter what difficulty they are on.
Ummm... Bosses weren't easy beatable in Diablo 2. Usually, you have a party of 8 to face Duriel or have level 98 rusher to do it for you. I think people forgot how hard the bosses actually were in Diablo.
They should've made the multiplayer bosses harder, but besides that, they were fine.

I think once you hit Nightmare the exits should be blocked off. Thats just my opinion.
