First off, why is this under the unannounced class section?
I don't see either for Hell. I would like something more centered around blood, pain, and souls. I think it would be real creepy if the sound fx had people screaming in agony and pools of blood blocked your path.

Both, fire and brimstone is part of hell as we know it in the franchise, but I would like to see more of a land of desperation in it... I think that the hell portrayed in the movie Constantine, the style at least (not so modern looking of course), would fit perfectly in D3...
Imo Hell, like Sanctuary, should be composed of many different places and regions.
We should visit many different and disturbing places, from stony and cold wasteland to demonic citadels. Maybe even something exotic like a underground florest filled with poisonous creatures (something like the troll nest from Berserk).
I would love to see Hell divided in multiple acts too. Hell looks a interesting place to explore... They shoud release a map of hell.
Paradise Lost has a good description of Hell that I think fits the Diablo universe.
A dungeon horrible, on all sides round,
As one great furnace flamed; yet from those flames
No light; but rather darkness visible
Served only to discover sights of woe,
Regions of sorrow, doleful shades, where peace
And rest can never dwell, hope never comes
That comes to all, but torture without end
Still urges, and a fiery deluge, fed
With ever-burning sulphur unconsumed.

Debatable whether it's "real" hell, but the stuff we saw on the bottom 4 levels of tristram was very different from the "fire n brimestone", instead being about bone, some bodies/blood, and alot of bleak stone floor. I really like either as long as it's done well, but the D1 stuff does stand out because it's so rare.
Well nether fire nor cold.
For me Hell is the most frightening place you can imagine.
As you i mean, as character:
For Barb - hmm....that's hard
For Witchdoctor - all of his tribe dies in front of his eyes, and he cant do anything about it.
For Monk - His order crumbles in hate and internal fighting and he's Deity abandoned him
For Wizz - shies loses all magic abilities and her order banished her ....
My point is that in Hell act, if it will be such, it should depend on which character you're playing that in some places on the level there should be events that correspond to the worst of fears for the character.
Hell for Wizard: any stage in Hell mode in Diablo II.
"Lightning! -...oh, immune. Fine. Arctic Blast! -oph, immune again. Shit, here come 50 ghosts! WTF! One hit and ALL my f'ing mana's gone! WHAT THE HELL IS THIS SHIT?"
Other, while d2 was nice I liked d1's hell much better. And would love to see that kind of bloody bony style mixed with d2's upper levels of hell. (the non fire levels).
Though I do welcome the fire hell as long as there is some bones and blood levels.
I agree with you, the fire levels of hell in D2 reminded me the lava/caves levels of D1 so it seemed unfitting those levels where higher levels of hell in D2...
though it's true in diablo lore the hell is "burning" a more desolate feeling would add a lot to the scary atmosphere it should have imo
I think Dante's Inferno(Both the game, and obviously the poem) represent what I think hell would be. Of course the Diablo universe Hell isn't at all like real lifes hell.
Out of the choices, I'd think Fire and Brimstone is the closest. But like others have said, it should also be a bloody destructive, souls being eaten, terrifying, incredibly hostile environment.
And to tag along with what Kiowa was saying, wouldn't it be awesome if there was a quest in the bowels of Hell for each class that is specifically that class' worst fears come to life?
Fear and Hell don't really mix for me. Hell should be punishment not fear. Fear is something I relate to dreams/nightmares. Instead of fears, it should be atonement. Barb has to pay for letting all of the Barbs die ( I know it's not his fault but you know he has to have some guilt bring one of the only few barbs left). Wizard suffers for her brashness and overuse of magic. Things like that.

I too feel like Hell should have multiple, distinct feels to it. Fire and brimstone should be a for sure thing, but should only be a part of the overall Hell. Some thoughts...
Coming upon a demonic citadel like italofoca mentioned would be sweet. Picture a Peter Jackson-esque Mordor type scene where you have to pass through the winding halls of Minus Morgul, or the Black Tower, or that tower where Frodo was taken after he got spidered.
Would be nice to see something cold and desolate. It could look similar to the first two areas in dII Hell, but I would remove the small fires, and instead replace them with patches of frost and the occasional iced over statue or soul. I think what would really make this area feel interesting would be if you could see the foggy breath of both the hero and his enemies. Give it the feel of a meat locker. Not all snow like act 5 dII. Something colder, dryer and emptier.
At some point in our descent into Hell, I would like to see an area that was covered in mist. Big shifting banks of fog that would limit visibility. Here one might splash through ponds of fetid water, or be beset upon by mist wraiths, who materialized out of the fog and disappeared back into the haze at will. If you really wanted to piss people off, you could cause the mini-map to deactivate while your character was in the fog, and then allow for minor map alterations so that when you came out of the other side of the fog you would get this great, "Crap, I'm lost in Hell..." feeling.

I'm gonna turn this into a poll just for fun!
