Yeah, I'm a greedy sob as well. Give me the game now, and I'll give them feedback on problems and bugs now, that way Blizz can do the game right the first time. The community will test the limits of the game in ways that the Blizz employees can not.
The players are stupid and never really know anything, even if they pretend to. Their ideas sucks and they all are a waste of time.
....This is what I feel like most developers think of us, sometimes. I have never seen any just go ahead and be so "open" with the development of their game. I followed fan games that obviously worked with constant feedback from their players, which could constantly play an update version of the game. And what is wrong with that? Players were always happy.
I'm not saying I don't understand when developers want to rely mostly on themselves and their team and not on thousands of players all having different opinions on what the game should be, though...
I just think we'll have never have a good balance. I think involving the community into the development of games more would do wonder, but the current trend is exactly the opposite.
Without question, the majority of the Diablo community is dumb panicky animals. But the core group of HARDCORE Diablo players (the ones that are here, and the ones that continued to play, steady or on and off, for all of these years)
But yeah, if it became a demo for anyone and everyone to play... not only would Battle.net forums be flooded with crap and spam, but so would ours. Not to say that it won't anyways when the game is released. lol
Besides, no matter what you say. You will get bored of it.
And this might decrease sales. Since they´ll lose a lot of casual players. They had a taste, now they don´t want more.
You gotta remember though, tons of us are still playing DII a DECADE later. lol.
Personally, I'd play the demo every day for a week or so, and after that, at least once a week until the full game comes out.

I didnt think they read diablofans ideas  i thought this place was just to quell what need for a diablo 3 demo we would find... although it does seem to do the opposite
though i agree with the retarded bit... most of us cant spell
You can release a beta for the game perhaps 3 or 6 months before release but no sooner. What's the point otherwise?
It's depending about only few thing, number of bugs found/quality of the testers (and plan test) and programming structure (easiness to work inside without break other things)
SO it's can take less or more... example: duke nuken forever never release since 1997... (many works are constantly became old, if they wanted to follow the quality of the new tech.)
Lot more votes to release it ASAP than I thought there would be. You want to play a broken game? Hahaha. Buy Modern Warfare 2 and see an unpolished unfinished beta-less game. And 2011 is more-than-likely incorrect, I don't know why people put dates to games that clearly will take more time. When I say "games" I mean "Blizzard games."

In their schedule blizz showed D3 for 2011, early, middle, late 2011 ? We don't know, but i'm pretty sure it will be in stores in '11.

Do you realize how many reports Blizzard will receive, how many similar bug they'll need to sort...
How many people doesn't know how write a bug report ?
How many people they will send bad, useless and stupid propositions and suggestions ?
And we don't have access to their data base bug reports...
They will never let us know the under hided statistics
They will never give us the engine and all the content of the game.
Do you know how much cost the liscence of Havok ?
I think I have enough argument to make you understand why Blizzard will not take us to test their game, sorry I break out your dream...

Beta demo doesn't exist. To release a Demo you need to have finished Beta and be gold or near...
lol 10-12 years wait time. Thats freaking long.
I played the game when I was 16 or 17....I'm 27 years old now...thats sad.
But, yes I think they should release a beta, why the hell not!
