So yeah pretty much I was lucky to get the sc2 beta client without being chosen and I went through the options and changed my setting from low all the way to ultra graphics ultra sound 1080p. And a bucnh of different things. So then I stumbled across the fact that I could turn off voice chat so I'm guessing if they'll put it in sc it will be in d3 and his also pretty much confirms the resolutions will go up to 1920x1080p.

That's nice to know. I don't have a mic, but still enjoy being able to hear the people I'm playing with rather than just seeing text. It's nice to know if I'm really playing with a drunken redneck, a stoner dropout or a prepubescent angry child.:P Being able to talk really does make online games better, one step closer to playing in the same room I guess.
As a side note, I find I really like playing Half-Life 2 with rednecks for some reason.
Dunno, I think I'll buy a headset at some point, probably after I get a second job. I love having my daytime free, but I could use some added income. But now I'm getting a bit
Mics are only like 10 bucks at radioshack dude, you can get them really cheap. I just got the creative fatality headset for 40 bucks off of newegg and it was listed as a 70 dollar headset.. I think I might do a youtube review over it, that'd be kinda fun
I hope they still have a decent typing system in place. When I talk into a mic I sound like I'm 12 and I hate when people judge me because of how I sound online.
Also I would like to be able to squelch somebody in the voice option and not the text option. I hate listening to annoying kids go "lalalalalalalala" into a mic but if I need to I still want the option of communicating with them.
Seth had one of his there with a mic gathering the news.
I do not know if I want to hear other players on a game.
Like I said it was under options so yeah you will be able to enable/disable voice chat... even before I logged in through bnet which by the way you can't if you wernt chosen unless you have the sc2 beta crack cuz I wasn't chosen but got the client but was unable to logon now there are no usernames either just asks for your email u used to signup for bnet and then after verifying it asks for password then its gunna check if u were chosen

As long as this thing can be turned off the same way in D3, I'm fine with it.
To be honest, its actually not serving me any purpose. Voice chat is horror in almost all circumstances with random people. Its worth it one in a million times, otherwise its just a pain in the ass unless you like all that immaturity bullshit or you just enjoy people talking about the most unrelated crap ever.
I just almost never had someone talking over the mic without me wanting to turn him off, except if its my friend.
Like I said, I don't have a problem with that since I'll just turn voice chat off and forever, -but- it still means that some idiots will be over sensitive about how I have it off and bla bla bla, and these people won't bother actually typing anything, so it'll just be more silent, and lame.
And even when I listen to them, it still sucks to TYPE to someone thats speaking through a mic, and using a mic is out of the question. Yes, love sounding like a dumbass in front of my computer for the other people in the house and annoy them all day.
I think its awesome that I'll be able to talk to my friends while we play Diablo 3 together, I would hate getting a ventrilo server just to talk with my friends
I might not talk with random people just depends, I'll probably use texting a lot while playing with random people, until I feel they are cool enough to talk to.

Well, you don't have to GET a ventrillo server, you just make one. Its tricky if you have no idea what you're doing, but it just needs one of you to do it and it takes surprisingly little bandwith and memory, -AND- it always was much better and reliable than any other voice chat I've seen in any game up to now, and that probably includes whatever SC2 and D3 will have to offer.
I get it that its useful to just have it like that in game, but if you play anything else really, its worth learning to make a ventrilo server. Anyone can do it. I'm surprised how many people think that getting their own ventrilo server is hard or will cost them. It doesn't have to.

Agreed. I have nightmares of what some kids were screaming over their microphones when I played Halo 3. Nightmares, man. x.x
Text will do for anything that isn't between friends, and even then, it's really not necessary.
Yeah Halo 3 can get pretty awful. Although some of my favorite memories from that game are listening to arguments that other people are having. When A kid is arguing with his mom and you kill him when hes not paying attention his reaction is guaranteed to be pure gold.

And for discussion's sake...
I'll vouch for this

How do you define redneck?
But I imagine voice chat will help connect players more deeply, hopefully drawing random selections of players together for more than just one game.

Anyhow, in the end its pretty meaningless.
