Farming, that alone is the only reason needed to not include logical drops. Even if slightly, that will still increase farming. You will see ever wizard in the same area, every barb in a different one. Monk's will all farm one particular region and so will WDs. Plus, what about the hundreds of monsters who don't use weapons or armor. Who wants to fight a monster that won't give them anything. People will just pass through the hordes of demons who won't drop anything for their class. Logical drops make sense logically but this is a video game. Birds can drop chest armor and a guy using a bow can drop an axe. It should stay random to match the Diablo franchise and to not promote farming.
Hey !! even if monster doesn't use weapon you have a chance to drop one anyway !! But if you see he use one you have 90% chance to drop it + something else completly random, so a warrior skelton have a chance to drop a staff + a sword !!! Play TQ and return your answer after !!!
Doesn't seem like there's much point to it. It's just a gimmick. That's fine for TitanQuest, but this isn't TitanQuest. What would be the point to it? More effort on the art-team's part when they could just as easily stick to the old-school "Plate armor explodes out of crows" design philosophy, thereby keeping one of the things Diablo is classically known for while also retaining the artistic vision they already have for enemies without slapping random junk onto their lovingly-crafted demonic entities.
If we're talking "add +5% for shield-drops on a shield-carrying enemy", why? Just as easy to do whatever they already do with loot-drop chances and probability. Once again, it's just a gimmick, and one that wouldn't have much point, nor would many people notice it - except maybe people who wanted to exploit it somehow, which makes the idea even less attractive.

Again, Farming, all end game content will revolve around a particular area for a particular class. Rather than having players play the game, they will just farm the one area for the best gear. Every forum will be filled with the same spot for each class to farm for their items. I would rather it be completely random so people have to play the game entirely to get better gear.

IMO the farming reason is not a good reason, I don't see what it's change when all thing still random anyway !! You want try to flush the area farming but the bigest farming will still there and even more effective and we call that BOSS !! we can't really or effectively farm "normal monsters" ?
Anyway the concept to see monster with the weapon who will drop haven't nothing with farming because the monster will have a random chance to use every weapons. So "making drop completly random with a static weapon used by monster" and "making drop completly random with the weapon used by monster who will drop" is completly the same ! in a random view !
The only thing I really minded about drop rates in D2, as I'm finding out again, is trying to complete low level set items. Why does it take me fighting Nightmare level Andariel to get a LEVEL 11 OR 12 AMULET?!?!?
Sorry about that little outburst. It's just I feel like I shouldn't have to find low level set gear from bosses/monsters outside of that difficulty level. Never once have I found a green amulet on Normal difficulty, yet there are...about 3 or 4 low level sets that have them? Maybe more? My beef - makes those kind of drops consistent with the level you're playing on. That's why so much good set gear went to waste because some of the final pieces were so hard to get, you'd have better luck trying to get rid of partisanship in Congress. Ahhhhhhhhh, end rant.

Well, to sort of answer your question // statement, Capn. On a technical term, bosses have a specific ilvl range that they can drop items at, which is usually much less than the average level needed to beat the boss. In most games, it's like this (WoW included). You'll never find a "Required level 30" item on or near level 30 mobs, usually you'll see them at much higher levels. This is because items have something akin to item levels. All of the stats (weighted) added together equal a certain number. That number will make the item available to drop from a specific set of monsters that can drop items in that range.
Now, I do agree that the deviance from ilvl and monster level was a bit too broad, but it kinda makes sense. At end game (Baal single player, Hell) can be beaten at roughly level 75 (and less with certain specs)... and everything scales from there. They don't want you to be completely armored in the best when you defeat Baal your first time. That will defeat the point of Baal dropping loot, and remove any end-game if all of the best items drop at or around that level.
It really is difficult to find the correct leveling scheme for this game. Some people (like myself) won't attempt Andariel Normal until level 30, way beyond the normal leveling scheme, but then again, some people will throw their corpses at her at level 10. It is very difficult to find the right drop rate and ilvl curve with such a broad scope of leveling tactics. Therefore, they decided to make it benefit the earlier end of the bell-curve, and go from there.
That's my take on it, at least.

I know about item levels, I see them all the time I go to mule something on Atma. I realize that they've done, for the most part, a kosher job on items drops as far as the exceptional and elite items. I got to check the item level for Civerb's Icon, the ONLY green amulet I have ever found. The amulet's gear level is 9. The item level of the amulet is 25!!! This is the kind of thing I dislike. I say, try to keep it more towards, I dunno, within -2 to +6 of the gear's level is all I'm saying. This concern, of course, only pertains to the normal gear set in D2. Most of everything else was fine. Unless we want to talk about Duriel's loot table...

Well, don't forget that ilvl is not directly related to the level of mobs that it'll drop from. (If it says ilvl is 25, it's not going to necessarily drop from ~25 mobs).
Edit: I hate Duriel... and his lewt. I didn't want it anyway.... stingy bastard.

There is also something that is called item rarity. Sets and Uniques that have more than one item in that type will have an entry in that. When the item is rolled and it is a set or unique and it passes that check it will against the current items rarity to find which item is rolled.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.

I know, I got that amulet from Nightmare Andariel, first kill. I highly doubt she's a lvl 25 mob.

Yeah... I don't doubt it. I think (keyword think), that all bosses can drop any item from ilvl X and below... which does muddy up the loot list. That they could do away with. I completely agree with you. It should be in ranges. (Or, if they are in ranges, drop the range to a different level).... though this could also inadvertently create more farming "nodes"... as if there weren't any to begin with.

I nod in agreement with your post. It seems no matter what there will be a flaw in the loot drop system somewhere. And someone will always be willing to exploit it.
*picks up farming equipment*
*Sigh*...well. Back to work.
Edit: Just received Civerb's Icon from Bremm Sparkfist in Normal Mode. Now HE would be about lvl 25 mob.

I do not want to see the quick farm runs. I would like to see bosses have less chance to have great items. Boost generic monsters drop rates.
GF should be important to buy resources and to gamble for gear.
I have played mods that made gold very important.
