I looked around and didn't see a thread addressing this, but if there already is one let me know. Anyways, one of the things I was thinking about pertaining to D3 is the loot. In most cases, the type of loot that drops is completely random and is not based on what enemy dropped it. I think it would be interesting to change that up a bit for D3. For instance, fighting those shield skeletons we're all so familiar with from the videos would have a higher chance of dropping shields and helms, as those are pieces of equipment that can be seen on the enemy. My question is: do you think a loot system like this would add to the gameplay? It would add a little more realism and immersion, but would it translate well when you're actually playing?
It also helps to breed item trading and selling, which in turn, boosts the economy and, as you may or may not know, roughly 90% of Diablofans are in favor of things that help bolster the economy.

I would go with a slightly better chance for a type of item. But I have a feeling that the drops are likely going to be geared more for your character type due to individual drops for each player. It will not mean you only get gear for your character but the bias on drops will be more geared for your character.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
Hey I already created a thread with the same subject !!
I notice the same, a small bird who drop a big armor seem strange from my point of view !!
Diablo 2 have always the same monster with a new color, the drop would be too repetitive. Randomness are here to cover the lack of monsters diversity. If d3 have more diversity in the monsters we see maybe logical drop will be great. Like Titan quest, the monster's weapon we see, it the one who will drop. You see if it's a special one or a normal one.
I think the idea is doable if monsters wear the items who will drop.
I work alot with titan quest editor and I see how it's work.
each monster have a loot for each equipable part.
left hand
right hand
head
torso
finger
in each these categories you have a table loot who have a chance to wear a unique or whatever, he can have a mace or a sword or a bow, you set the % !!
I change completly the loot for having full unique monsters, hard to kill because they use items... but when it's drop you're happy !!
I think that system belongs to a true RPG (par example Oblivion) and not in D3. I would get pretty annoyed if I had to kill 100 claw vipers and every time I killed them a 'broken spear' or something dropped.
This also makes me wonder when a creature will drop a Voodoo Mask for the witch doctor. (Or was that a normal helm he was wearing in the gameplay vid?)
What items would an unburied drop? Perhaps pants, but that would be all.

I'm pretty sure that it's a voodoo mask you have to find because in other videos he is wearing some other sort of helmet without tribal feathers.
I would be in favor of more realistic drops, but only a slight skew. Say, maybe a 10% chance increase of some one using a bow to drop bows or arrows.
It might increase farming, but I don't mind it as long as it's easier to find the things I'm looking for by going to a specific area. This will probably happen anyways, it will just be based on ilvl.
I don't think its a good idea, because ten you'd know where to get certain items because of the nature of the map and enemies, whereas in D2 you really had no idea...except for runes and stuff.
Even with runes you had no idea. It was all about running numbers. You would determine the amount of enemies, with the amount of MF, and the ilvl of the creature, and figure out roughly where you'd have to "farm" to maximize your MF potential.... which is why Chaos runs and boss runs were determined to be the best for drops within certain level ranges of gear.
I'm against logical drops. I feel it really does detract from the game's "Random loot" schema.

A loot table for what wear foes (it's still random, but he wear it)
And a loot table completly random !
So a monster always drop both of these loot table.
Logically, random or logic drop change NOTHING because the stat of items still RANDOM !!!!!!!
If you doubt an hack&slash can have logic drop, play titan quest and you will see !!
The idea for a higher chance of a drop was really what I want. Say you kill a. Sword weilding skelly, well he has a 5% better chance of dropping a sword, any sword. And while fashionable, the unburied could still drop other things than pants.. I'm thinking it eats adventurers whole...
Anyway, a slight bias is not that bad. It still makes the game diverse enough, yet does give the feel you actually fought something with eg. a polearm.

Drops what the wielder uses. That's a concept I'd like to see. Say we meet a group of skeleton archers, but one of them are wearing a faintly glowing bow (or sword for that matter) We would know that this dude is wielding a magic item.
Not saying that the end boss drops the same huge axe every time, cause that would be boring. I just think it would bring a little more depth to the game, without being too complex.
Although I'm sure its easy to code a bunch of mobs with the same variety of looks.
Yeah I agree !!
It's extremely easy to programming mobs with different weapon/armor... (3D). d2 looks all the same because it a static 2D drawing.
I like the idea to see if the weapon you're going to drop are magic !! like TQ ! Indeed you don't see all what he's going to drop !
I think it's obvious to see that feature, I don't see the reason why they put a system purely random like d2 !! Who are against this idea haven't enough good arguments to reject it !! Sorry but keept the randomness is not a good point because drop will still RANDOM !!!! only more logic !!
Farming, that alone is the only reason needed to not include logical drops. Even if slightly, that will still increase farming. You will see ever wizard in the same area, every barb in a different one. Monk's will all farm one particular region and so will WDs. Plus, what about the hundreds of monsters who don't use weapons or armor. Who wants to fight a monster that won't give them anything. People will just pass through the hordes of demons who won't drop anything for their class. Logical drops make sense logically but this is a video game. Birds can drop chest armor and a guy using a bow can drop an axe. It should stay random to match the Diablo franchise and to not promote farming.
