So I poked around a little and didn't really see an answer, so what I'd like to know is if each piece of armor will be rendered on your character, unlike in Diablo 2 where your armor gave you one of three appearances, sometimes a different color. If I change from one pair of shoulders to another, I want to see the difference.
They haven't given any actual information on it but they have saidthat they want your character's look to change depending on what you are wearing. To what extent is unknown given the game will probably have thousands of items.

That's all I can ask for as long as I'm not stuck with only three different looks (not counting different headpieces) I'll be happy. Everything in D2 always, always looks the same, no matter what.
Likely every item will in some way change the look. They may have some standard looks. Some items likely have no change in looks because the item is to small.
I do not know how gloves, belts, and boots are going to be handled. Since they are not large and be over shadowed from the larger items. If they change the looks I hope they do not go over the top with over sized looks.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
In the first gameplay demo they released, you could see that each peice of armor you wear will appear individually on your character. Remember when the barb opened that chest and picked up armor and stuff? go check it out, you can pause between each peice that he picks up.
D2 doesn't have only 3 differentes appearence you're mistaken with Diablo 1.
I assure you I'm not thinking of Diablo 1. What I mean is, there are three armor "looks" in D2. No armor. Light armor. Plate. There are different colors based on set/item/gems, whatever. There are different helmets, yeah - skull, mask, Barb helmets, Druid helmets, they all look different, but for your torso everything looks the same.

it's easier to do that with 3D, d2 still 2d and each "appearence" need to be draw.
Even 2D with the Diablo 2 technology can have items handled individually. I'm not 100% sure thats how it is in D2 but I always thought it was. Otherwise it sounds pretty insane.
In D3, armor is a lot more directly related to your appearance, as we have seen already. I'm still hoping stuff like Rings and Amulets can show... even if they are small and rather meaningless.
But other than that, whatever WoW does about this, D3 will do, simply because there is no reason not too and no reason to handle it like D2...

No the item on the ground can't be the same as when you wear it, it's 2 differents drawing.

Yes the same modelisation can be use for every usage (picture in inventory/vendor, on the ground and when you wear it).

Sorry, but you really have to work on your English or something. I wasn't talking about that and thats not what you were talking about in my eyes in your last post.
Still, that's only 6 different appearances in a game with hundreds of items. Do you honestly not understand what I'm trying to say? I used the number "3" loosely, I could have googled it and said 6, but I'm too lazy - but three or six, if they copied that into D3, I'd be pretty mad and I'm sure others would be too. With the tech and the games people are churning out these days, 6 different appearances for hundreds, thousands of items, would be inexcusable. Ten years ago? Sure, why not.
And as for "replay it man" look to your left, you can get me in game with that info.

It's just impossible, when you do a 3D model with texture you'll be stupid if you don't reuse it. 2D items on the ground can't be the same drawing of when you wear it.

I still don't think you get it. I do not care that there are only three (read: six) "outfits" in Diablo 2. I DO care if there will only be three (read: six) outfits in Diablo 3. If an item in D3 looks similar to another item, sure, same skin. But if you go from one type of armor to another and they keep them looking the same to save time designing, IMO that's not cool. Not cool at all. Do I make sense yet?
Shoulders is a good thing and noticable aswell. I hope pants will be seen too. The only thing what i really wanted D3 to have is capes...
Idk about other games, but there is a game called Ultima Online (UO) wich have the capes, they don't give anything, neither def or anything, it's just for the looks and it looks cool.
..I like that idea, capes with no stats! Completely optional for those who hate cloaks and stuff. We all know you cloak haters are out there, lurking.

I never said D3 will have only 3 (6) differents kind of looks. The contrary, D3 will have each pieces uniques.

-D2 the picture of armor isn't the same drawing of when you wear it, for saving time they regroups few kind of armor for a same looks.
-D3 the picture of armor will be the same modelisation of when you wear it, so every modeliastion is already done, they haven't time to save if the job is done.

We came to that conclusion yesterday, thanks. I understand exactly what you said. Look at what Jeru5 said:

Ugh... i really hated how in D2 your looks changes only when you equip body armor, helmet and weapons/shields.
THAT is what I was saying before. My entire point was, "In Diablo 3, shit is 3D so will equipping new gear change our appearance." We're both saying the same thing pretty much, learn to fucking read.
