wait do you mean to tell me that godly plate of the whale was a hacked item and blizzard didnt create it themselves?
I may have misspoken as I now forget what the distinction is between "open" and "closed" battle.net and if such a distinction existed in the days of Diablo (It was a while ago...). I do remember that the Godly Plate of the Whale was an item duped ad nauseam much like the Arch Angel's Staff of [the?] Apocalypse--can't promise to have gotten the names right, going entirely off some old memories here.
If I recall correctly my Diablo multiplayer experience involved joining a random game and having someone duplicate all of their gear and give it to my low-lvl (possibly lvl 1) character... I was probably eleven or twelve at the time and really didn't quite understand why that wasn't as awesome as I thought it was. And that's pretty much all I remember as pertains to drops and farming gear from Diablo.
But talk about Music and Atmosphere... Those memories just don't go away...
I was curious and searched online and found this website which goes through some of the items common (and by that I mean ridiculously common often due to dupes) in Diablo and their legitimacy. Godly Plate of the Whale is listed as a hacked item unattainable in normal play. So I suppose it seems unlikely that it will be brought back although the Windforce was brought back in DII and according to the same site, the durability(?) was often hacked (or hacked once and duplicated often).

I remember how popular white and black armor was for a long time, then cow king charms were very popular, then of course the state "uniteruptible", and that was used on charms to annoy noobs who didn't make their own stuff
man diablo 1 was soooooo sweet, it was so basic where you could buy your gear from a store. I wish blizzard had servers for them, I tried buying it a couple days ago on the blizzard store but they dont even have it!
