This is a great topic. I always enjoy a challenge over a walk through. Im guilty of using MH my self.. but the only challenge that comes from using MH was not letting Blizz know it. Blizz should make the right choices in diablo 3 and hope that they add an Add on data file to the system files. This way the ppl what wish to use it could use it with out it being a "hack" which is against the terms u agreed to. As far as using it in D2 ppl wont stop using it cause it works so well. But with out it maybe it would be a little harder to get some items that now flood the D2.
I have a very hard time understanding how people can defend the use of Maphack and similar.
Obviously cheating cant be prevented 100%, but I certainly hope Blizz will let the banhammer strike hard and often in Diablo 3.

The items that flood D2 now are due to dupes, not maphacks.
Never underestimate the MF-bot + Maphack combination...
even with a bot going 24/7 and mfing with a MH non stop on another account entirely you would never come close to inflating the market of rare items like duping has done
But you would still be generating drops at a unbalanced rate. And remember that you can have 10K bots running at once.
Also, I thought that most duped items poof after a while?
they do almost always poof....sometimes quickly...sometimes not for years....the time it takes a dupe to poof seems as random as everything else in the game it really is bizarre....seriously ive had a bunch of perf COA's that my friend duped given to me...traded a bunch....nvr did the temp perm thing....some poofed on me right away and others poofed a week or 2 after....and some I had right till the day I quit....so I had some for 2 or 3 years.....
and who the hell has 10k bots running at one time? I know some ppl have a lot going at one time on multiple CD keys but nowhere near that amount(I guess possibly guys that own item selling sites....even tho I doubt that many tho) and even then duping would be a faster method of getting items into the market at a faster rate
most sites have both legit and duped items.....you can buy shakos on most all sites and none of them are duped(well maybe the glitched ones are :P) Most of those sites wont claim to have 214523653634 legti jah or zod cuz no1 is that stupid...
The duped runes dont poof because the dupers make like alot of runes then upgrade them using the cube recipe. Once you upgrade a duped rune its no longer duped, its a new generated rune, so it wont poof... Just sayin ^^
Well all I can say is the following. Hopefully the game is fun, scary, and provides a all around good time with a upmost amount of security. I think everyone can agree on this.
I'm just glad the first topic I've ever posted got 10 pages of reply's lol.
I would much rather buy from a site with non poofing items. I played diablo 2 when it first came out all the way up until 1.0 which at that time I broke my discs because other wise I would have never stopped playing. A year or so later I started playing again and i'll admit I had a descent job at the time and 2-3$ for a couple of runewords that I previously was not accustom to was a pretty good deal in my eyes. I would have been out of the loop and it would have taken a couple of months for me to get back into the game lol. Yes I bought some stuff. So sue me.
It would be against forum rules to post links to a map hack or any other kind of hack or to post a thread asking forum members for a hack I'm going to assume.
I agree with EmilEmil1 on that issue.

haha I forgot about that :P....yeah im betting most all legit HR's come from duped runes being upgraded in the cube

I don't even know why there is a discussion here.
MapHACK is a hack, and not part of the game. Yes it's annoying when you teleport all over Durance Level 2 (like I was last night) only to find the stairs were right next to you all along.
If the game intened you to know the map before you explored it it would have that option.
It's obviously not as bad as duping etc but it's still cheating and shouldn't be allowed.
I hope the security on D3 is a lot tighter because bots are REALLY started to p*ss me off. Never used to be like it when I played 4 or 5 years ago but now I start a game and am flooded with 2 or 3 coming in spamming my whole screen.
Yes any MH is a hack or 3rd party program and is wrong plain and simple!!! But you think blizzard would of taken the hint a LONG time ago and realized players were just sick of looking for entrances to places they had been a zillion times before and just wanted to get rid of that annoyance. If blizz simply allowed us to see the map and hell even other players gear(a lot of old MH's let u do that) many players would nvr bother considering a hack again and that would of saved blizz a lot of trouble trying to ban that stuff so they could focus on dealing with other hacks/exploits(bots, spam, dupes, pvp hacks)

But still, would you buy items (if you were forced to) from a site with a lot of poofing items or a site with less poofing items?
No site can claim that there items poof less or more then any other sites using a different duping method. Either the item is listed as legit or duped and that is it. Theres no way to tell if a duped item will poof sooner then later and there never has been or will there be(well at least I seriously doubt it)
Or we could play the game as they want it to be instead of changing it to what suits us Just because it sucked in D2 doesn't mean it have to suck in D3, everything will be so different.
Or maybe they should of changed it to what the VAST majority of players wanted a long time ago.
That is what we wanted for D2. None of us have played D3 in its final version, so the people that should know what's best is Blizzard (at this point). I'm not going to critizise a system like this before I haven't even tried it.
Now you are not remembering the conversation. The topic was why you would buy items collected by a maphack bot (guaranteed to not poof) over duped items (guaranteed to poof sometime, except for runes/runewords). It is very bad rep (if it can get any lower) for a site, that claims to be 100% non-duped, if their items suddently poofed. That means that the site can't be trusted and people will stop using it and switch to a safer "legit" site.
I wasnt talking about D3..only D2 in that first quote
Ok well I would probably not buy rare items that are guaranteed legit simply because the cost would be sky high in some cases(like any high rune or a good COA, espicially on ladder) The only items id consider buying would be high runes anyway since I can use them to make runeworkds and trade them easily
Sadly, you're right.
I still haven't found a game thats 100% hack free.
Online games for PS3 are 99.99% hack free, I have been playing for 2 years now and I have never encountered a single hacker, and I play the popular titles like COD4 very often.
I know it's probably a little to early to be thinking about it, but it was extremely useful in diablo 2. I was extremely dissapointed when they banned use of it. Given it did get a little out of hand with the whole incomming missle detection and a few other features. It sure made those lvl1,2,3,4,5 staircases alot easier to locate
Useful yes, fun no.
It wasn't fun to skip all the content even more faster and easier.
It wasn't fun to see all the bad bosses beforehand and skip them.
Maphack was for retards and ungifted players.
In Diablo 3 we will see more of the area because of bigger resolutions, also the map seems to be slightly more visible. So a hack shouldn't be needed.
Well part of the reason so many turned to map hack besides being 'ungifted or retarded' was because it got increasingly annoying to go through the same area again and again and having to find your play hundreds of times. It simple got unfun after awhile of finding your way through the same, yet slightly different catacombs. I don't really know if thats a area higher screen resolution and a more visible map are meant to solve.
What the heck is your problem? Some kind of issue of yours so that you must make these idiotic judgement calls on anyone in general using simple map hacks? Unless you got run over by a map hacker, that was uncalled for.

Well, the real problem is that there is really nothing special about most dungeons. They look bland, always the same, offer nothing of value in exploration. If D3 offers something more interesting to look at, and just make exploring worth more (I know this was said already), then you wouldn't need a maphack.
But ultimately, all goals could use a map hack. What if there is a lot of things hidden in the dungeons in D3. People might want a map hack if it can pinpoint the locations of all of these things.
A better map or allowing the player to see farther ahead (higher resolution) certainly won't make a difference.

Nobody wants to skip content the first or even 10th time through, but when you have run a boring pointless dungeon with nothing to offer for the 1000th(probably a lot more times then this) time the fun is really gone in the exploration part.
Maphack being for retards and ungifted players has to be one of the worst comments ive seen on here in a long time lol....so I guess theres a lot of retards and ungifted players out there eh? Just because they were sick of trying to find durance 3 stairs and just wanted to find them faster.
A map hack for Diablo3 is unlikely.
The new BNet will probably have such high security that not even a third party program can compromise it.
I believe that's why Blizzard is updating BNet to this extent, and that's to stop hacking altogether for both WoW, SC2, D3 etc...
Most likely all of Blizzards new releases will be run off of BNet 2.0
Just my .02 cents.
