I couldn't agree more with you Jamoose. This guy leading some of the D3 tracks and we're back to the good old d1 with it's atmospheric guitar pieces. Man I wish that Blizz looks into this kind of guys to make the soundtracks. Makes me realise that Diablo soundtracks must be about guitar + electronic sounds... not the other way around (in the case of D3).
Seriously, at this point it's more about style than composition. Mr. Emmanuel here definatelly has the perfect style to fit the diablo universe. Listen to the d1 tristram theme, the echos, the uplifting and downgrading bits vehiculed in the track. I can find the same phases in the track jamoose found. It's simple, if you add a flute to the mix and some violins.... you have an epic song.
I tend to dislike orchestral tracks in certain cases such as representations of evil/villainy because they bring too much debt to the emotions. Evil is simple, it's lonely, it corrupts, it has one and only one goal....bring misery and pain. I like the guitar because it can bring you in and out of the abyss with it's large harmonic library. Low/high frequencies can be attained and in contrast with a high pitch instrument such as a voice or a flute you can really bring a wide variety of emotions/sounds up. If I was to make a diablo orchestral track, I would certainly make sure that I have at least a majority of string instruments and a large choral. I can understand that a game with only guitar+voice+flute+violon soundtracks can get annoying after a while but when it's instored in a balanced harmonic composition with orchestral pieces... you have a wonderful atmosphere of prevaling evil and impending encounters with wickedness.
Anyway, I don't know if you guys share my point of view but I'm pretty sure that I agree with myself ;)!!!
I think the D3 soundtrack SO FAR... is decent the only one im nt too sure about is the overture but Last angel is EXTREMELY eerie and the violins and pianos are more of a feel for diablo personally my second and third favorite instruments their sounds are light but have the ability to be played in such ways that scare the shit out of you which is why they are good to me. But so far with Last angel besides the girl moaning lyrics n the back its going well to me. I agree this guys got talent and that intro is fing amazing and would go great i just dont think blizz will do that they usually stick to just one composer.

I really enjoyed the guitar parts from the D2 music. In fact I felt that the SOUNDs from D2 were what kept me playing for so many years. The graphics have long been outdated, and the story was old after the first time you beat the game on normal difficulty with the first character you ever made like 10 years ago. But the sound it makes when you create a new barb, walk out into the blood moor, and club a zombie is still so satisfying! And at least as important was the music. I loved the D2 act 1 music.
I'd love to hear more about the music and sound design for D3, as I believe these components are MOST critical to creating a great game!
Listen to it.
