Thought I had to make a thread about this after seeing this. Since achievements are supposed to be in the game and all what would you guys like to see that is kinda like the mouse clicking achievement? Maybe somethings you did in D2 that you would like to have gotten an achievement for? I like the system as long as it doesn't pop up for every little thing I do. But anyway maybe we can come up with some nice ones on this here forum, maybe blizz will put them ingame, maybe not

Where did you get this image ?
Thats EXECLY the kind of achievment i don't wanna see.
Lone Wolf: Finished the game in all difficulties in "one player" games (pure solo).
Lone Alpha: The same as lone wolf but in Hardcore.
Explorer: Fully explored all the dungeons of the game, including the random ones.
Loremaster: Read all the texts in game, listened to all dialogs, wtahced all cinematics.
Imo Achievments are a way of recognise a peculiar play style. Like the guy that finish the game by himself, the guy that are interested in the lore, etc...It should not something to hunt down. Really, when people starts to do really stupid and not fun stuff just to get some titles achiements really loose it's point for me.
It should involve a whole play style, not some pontual task.
I have to agree, achievements like that are the retarded kind of achievements. First, I think they are just a fake way of adding life to the game. But what the hell, its not so bad when there are good objectives to do. Sometimes, they are enjoyable even for me.
But stuff like that, "kill a million monster", "have 1000 hours of play time on one character", are just stupid. You can't do anything to get to them except waste your life on the game.
Good achievements are those that may need me to get out of the normal bondaries of the game to do something that is still fun, and reward me for it. I also think that they need not be so easy, everyone will have them quickly. For example, "finish the game on normal". "Kill Diablo". This is a serious waste of an achievement spot. Finish the game on ALL difficulties though, is something not everyone would have, so it suits it better.
And its already pretty much confirmed in my eyes that D3 will have achievements.

I have to disagree with you on a few points. First, I personally don't think achievements are "fake" ways of adding life to games. They demonstrate that you know the game well enough and are good enough to do certain things that other people aren't able to. Using Left 4 Dead as an example (I realize it's not a hack n' slash, bear with me), there's an achievement for vomitting on 4 people at once with the Boomer, another for killing all 4 humans as the Tank (who has a limited lifespan), etc. To get these, you have to have some skill with the game and understand the mechanics at least decently well. Some people luck out, but most people who get them have put a bit of time into the game. I didn't get the Boomer one until I got better at laying traps, learning what points in each man were a good spot to vomit from, and learning the range of my attack.
I think they could serve the same purpose in Diablo 3. Granted, there are always some achievements which are very easy to get and everyone has within a few days. Again, with Left 4 Dead, you get an achievement for everyone making it to the finish on the first map/campaign, regardless of difficulty. It was the first one I got. While easy, I don't think every achievement needs to be as difficult as the "Complete all maps on expert one." The same applies for Diablo 3. As I said before, I like them because they show yourself, and others, that you have skill and knowledge of the game.
As to the ones where you need to kill 1,000,000 zombies or whatever, I don't think those are meant to be ground out as you seem to suggest. You don't need ot waste your life. It just happens as you play. It's a sort of marker to demonstrate that you've been playing longer than others.

I find some achievements pointless. Now having class specific achievements would make everyone want to at least try a diffrent class some achievements I would like to see in the game
Class Specific's:
Wizard: Make a chain lightning that kills ten monsters by aiming at just one monster.
Use slow time and dodge 100 projectiles (over time)
Disintegrate a row of 5 of more zombies.
WD: With one firebomb kill 5 monsters
Using a summon have it kill 25 monsters in one life.
Scare away 100 monsters with horrify.
Barb: Kill 666 monsters with WW
Stun 100 enemies.
Without losing all of your fury kill 33 monsters
Monk kill 20 monsters with exploding palm within a twenty second time limit.
use seven sided strike consecuteviley to kill 50 monsters.
somehting else sorry.
General achievements beat game on easy normal hard difficulties.
Kill 666 zmobies & 666 undead & 666 demons
Complet half of quests in the game including sq and main story.
defeat every miniboss in the game. Beat one of the collapsing dungeon within a minute. or two depending on how long one takes.

If achievements were actually difficult to get in Diablo 3, they might be able to keep the good old "noob" comments away from you. It would be nice to hear those a little less.
Well you cant exactly make them so hard that new players can't get them. They haave to make some easy some mediuma nd some hard ones. Because they are catering to everyone.

i don't think you can ever say you don't want a certain achievement in the game. they're extremely easy to add, take up almost no game real estate, and if you don't pursue them, you won't ever see them, so they might as well not exist to you.
personally, I'd like to see creative achievements, and I agree that the more entertaining achievements are the ones that reward a particular playstyle, and grinding-based achievements aren't always very fun.
HOWEVER, occasionally I do enjoy grinding-based achievements...
lol ya like a achievement called "pwnage" would be funny like...kill 666 things without dieng in a single game would be fun, a lot of grinding right there lol
Thats the kind of milestone that i hope to be rewarded for.. i love the idea of having an achievment for clicking the mouse 1 billion times while playing. thats just pure geniuss
Are there really enough instances in Diablo for achievements to take place? Sure you can kill X amount of monsters in X amount of time and stuff, but really that's all Diablo is about. Killing monsters. LOTS of monsters.
they can have achievements for completing quests.
getting a unique item
getting complete sets
completing quests as with friends
they can have tons of things to add as achievements, not i care for them
When it comes to achievents they could do a million things with them. They can do them based on classes too like for a monk it could be most monsters killed with exploding palm or something. They can also do most monsters killed/most bosses or unique monsters killed.

I just hope they are good ones.. of course there will be staple acheivements, but I don't want them to be so damn easy or pointless.
or just got a decent hit on a car to barrel them.
