Does anyone else think that not being able to customize your stats anymore just sucks?
I mean it allowed for so many more possibilities when creating very customized characters such as the 97es Sorc with over 4k mana. If stats were not customizable this character wouldn't be nearly as effective and might not even exist.
Truly, why would you reduce player customization for any reason?
Please voice your opinions, I want to get some feedback.
P.S. Hello again everybody!

Well i remember back at 2008 Blizzcon Q&A that the reason they did it was to increase the difficulty and realism of the game. It does kinda suck as it will limit the diversity of the game and its characters between other people.

I honestly don't understand how it could add realism to the game since a person isn't automatically given their attributes in real life. Also, wouldn't it decrease difficulty due to the fact that they are removing a variable from the equation?

Well i mean they did it for a reason peprsonally i find it helpfull. Cause when i started the game i had bought LoD at the same time and i looked at the stats and was like What?. So it was just a way for me to scrw up my character. It helps me to have this auto stat feature as it will help many who just buy D3 as their first Diablo Game. But i do get where your coming from as it limits the diffrence between players but thats not to worry. They've said time and time again that the runes provide equally well options so putting a strike rune on Tele is just as good as putting the chain reaction type rune on lightning. They both have their advantages and disadvantages, and a tele with the chain thing is just as good as tele with strike rune. They both offer equal opportunities to the player to have a good build while yet being diffrent from the level 50 wiz next to him.

Yes essentially that would make the game more "replayable", But still if you don't understand what stat to choose you will continually fail and fail. And most of the replayability is not in stat customization it's more in te fact that you can now respec your skills and try a diffrent skill or run build with you character. And it's aslo the fact everyone wants to try each class once because they each offer diffrent opportunites to the player albeit Range, power, magic, summons. They each offer something unique to the equation and thats why people replayed diablo so much to try each class to see which one would be best for them and then get to 99 which was difficult and then to get to kill uber diablo mephisto and baal. Those are just some resons. The items in D2 were definitley not replayable because everyone wanted their set or smethign better than it but it was only a certan thing. Like druids had jalals and barbs had ik tal rashas for sorcs enigmas i mean there were just a few itms people wnated and that took alot from replayability. I mean if you had diverse equips which offer unique stats but are equal in a way and make it a tough decision then you'll have more people trying out diffrent combos and stuff. And since thats what they're doing with 3 it adds to replayability through that and much much more.

It was crap that pretty much the only way to figure out a really good build was to go on a forum like this and ask someone/research it. Don't really care, personally, and I don't believe it will be a big deal.
They are trying to replace it with more interesting ways to customise your character. Stat point allocation was simply boring as batshit.
Or actually think about what you are trying to accomplish and build something unique instead of copying someones ideas.
People today honestly can't think for themselves?
What I'm really trying to say is, why eliminate a factor in the game that allows more intelligent people to actually be better in the game?
Bah. I hated accidentally putting 10 points I didn't have to into strength or whatever and feeling like I had to start the character over again. Being an expert on Diablo 2 stat allocation doesn't make you smart, it makes you sad.
Why eliminate it? Because it's tedious, unnecessary and there are more interesting ways to give the player the ability to customise their character and 'be smart'.
And by ES Sorceress I believe you mean Eastern Sun?
Which is a mod.. Not a real game, am I right?
Yes I am.
I also love to destroy people. Not just their opinions.
Wow, you look like a fool. Ever heard of energy shield?
Maybe if you read my first post you wouldn't have made yourself look like such a scrub.....
Ya cocky bastard.

I guess critically thinking about a game makes me sad..... Oh noes!
But accidentally putting stats into the wrong category did suck.

I'm a little worried about how Blizz are trying to make the game even more 'newb friendly' but this is one thing I think they have got right. I understand why you're a bit perturbed by it - making melee sorcs etc was fun when everything else got boring in Diablo. I do think, however, that there will be ways to do similar things - just in much more interesting ways.
Can argue about it until your face goes blue but it isn't going to change. Still believe that it was one of the most tedious parts about Diablo 2.
Could you elaborate on how they are making these customizations possible?
I have been offline for some time now, I'm trying to re-educate myself.
And it's called debating.

Maybe we can stop the Flaming?...Please? It is kind of against the forum rules. Be polite please. Uhm the runes have equal diverse effects again ill use my tele example say a guy wants tele i want lightning. Im gunna put a chain reaction rune on lightning and a strike rune on tele so that my lightning is liek a super chain lightning and my tele does an attack when i land. Or we both like tele but i want a chain on it so i pt a chain on tele so instead of moving 100 feet away im gunna move 200 feet away because i doubled it. see They offer equal customization here. they are equally good for their own purposes.
Weapons ae being diversified so you can have this armor
- Armor of the Blood
31 def 100 to life 10% added att rating.
-Armor of the Energy
31 def 100 to mana 25 to life
Armor of fury
31 def 10% slower fury decrease 50 to life.
You see they base themseleves ont he same thing nd they are equally good for each class but if i was a barb id like to either use the Blood or fury ifi was wizard id use blood or energy because they both provide somethign special and unique yet no too diverse so that i only want this cause it rapes that ones asshole

Wow, you sure do sound like a retarded idiot to me.
Have you ever heard of real life? That's what we normal people who's not playing Diablo 2 24/7. So before you call anyone a scrub, take in account that you're a real narks.
And please, for all our sake. Use real words, instead of ES which can easily be mistaken for Eastern Sun.
I love it how morons always fall back on the "you just play too much" tactic.
I'm in college and haven't played D2 in years.
And if you weren't sure what es was, why didn't you just ask?

Yes. Back on topic. I see how these runes and weapon customizations will help diversify, but why try and replace something when you could just have all three?

Implying that people who joined 'late' are somehow less intelligent than people who have been here for longer is almost as bad as falling back to the 'you play too much' argument.
btw I always used dii.net though I swear I had an account on this site as well - just completely forgot what the name of it was haha.

Wrong...... Es sorc............................................ derrrrr............
And required str. was always different for different builds allowing placement of stats elsewhere.
