I guess it could be a possibility. But I doubt it. I think they will stick with a more medieval kind of time period, meaning swords, bows and arrows. I mean, look at the monk class. He basically fights with his own hands.
If they threw in a GUN hero, that'd be going against a lot of the whole time period of Diablo, and be going along the same lines as Nazi Zombies in Call of Duty.
I'm just copy-pasta'ing something I posted a little bit ago.
We've seen a nice combination of archetypes thus far.
Barbarian - Pure Melee with Tank elements(with some ranged to keep it slightly balanced)
Witch Doctor - Summoner // Debuffer
Wizard - Pure Caster
And finally,
Monk - Speed Class // Sacrificing defense for speed & power
The thing all of these classes have in common is that they are great at both point blank and ranged distances. Because of that, I have my doubts as to if we'll be seeing a pure range class. We've seen from the gameplay videos that each class thus far can hold their own in an all out brawl. To be honest, my vote is that the fifth class could be any man's (or woman's) guess.
If I had to guess? I'd guess something a bit more borderline neutrality. Something that doesn't stray too far from evil or good. Not the Necromancer, but something dark in nature.

I actually thought about that two, and I think you bring up a good point that all classes have ranged skills.
I also agree that the next class (whatever it may be) will be darker than the previous four. I think that is a big part of why the necro was so popular in d2.
it should be some kind of half angel with primary bow and light arrow usage! or some type of ronan who uses bows...boomarangs...throwing knives..and similar ranged weapons. gun types dont belong in D3 anyway!!!
How so? They would fit in well with the time period. Cannons DID exist. Hell, the gun looks sweet in Assassin's Creed 2.
With the 'time period'? Guns 'did exist'?
No, they didn't. Diablo does not take place in some ancient version of 'our' world'. It's entirely fictional, obviously. Guns did not exist -- we've never seen one in any of the games, any of the novels, or any of the lore / art pieces shown for D3. In every conceivable way, guns do not exist in Sanctuary.
I'll say it again: Blizzard themselves have said 'No Guns in Diablo 3'. While that might possibly change in the future, it doesn't appear that it will, and we have zero reason to think it will change, and every possible reason to think it won't.
First hand cannons, thats hand cannons, IE a kind of small arms weapon, was in 1260, in The Battle of An Jalut, between the Mongols and the Mamluks in the Middle East. They reached Europe in the 1300's.
Also, the earliest known cannon was from the third century B.C.E. though it was not driven by gunpowder. Not much is known of this cannon, as most of Ctesibius of Alexandria's work was lost.
Also, Bashiok said that there would be no guns...kinda...

I’m not sure that I said “no” so specifically, although… hrm maybe I did. What I meant, through invisible force of will which I attempt to dredge my posts in and then fry up like so much chicken, was that I’ve overheard a collective reasoning not to pursue them.
In the wake of that uncertainty I think we should just be glad that Mount Arreat is gone, along with most of it’s inhabitants.

Well, you have to realize that it's been 20 years, and in technological terms that can be a very long time. We're trying to create a world that's not static, its filled out, and with that it's an advancing world. With that amount of time, and also the loss of the Arreat Summit much of the remaining barbarian culture has focused on... nah I'm just kidding, there aren't any guns.
Rrright. Well, if anyone was wondering, the article where Wilson specifically states that no guns are planned or prospective in Diablo III is here, if anyone wants to take a look

Just to reiterate, bashiok really said no guns before.
I really think the next class will be a primary archer, maybe an archer that could use melee as well, like a hunter or a ranger that could use knives and short swords. And why not a rogue, that could be like a mix between the amazon and assassin to develop the Dialbo 1's character a little bit?
When only the barbarian and the witch doctor were out, I said that the game still lacked a magic user that probably would be an arcane wizard, an magic melee fighter that could be a cleric and a ranged warrior that could be like a rogue or a hunter with summons.
Actually, to think of it, there are no summon guy, so that could just make it up. Just remember that they said that the witch doctor has no intention of being a summoner. It would be nice to be a summoner strong in ranged attacks.
Oh, erm, nothing to be sorry about. The "Rrright." was just at the bit of bickering that seemed to be coming up over something that was already confirmed not to be in the game I guess it doesn't really mean that discussing it hypothetically is a bad thing, but it's just not going to be there.
(And I realized that Jay Wilson said that stuff right before I posted it after looking over MD's article again- other wise I would have put Bashiok, too.)

Well, I don't know about that. He has a whole summoning tree so far and I don't think I've read anything to the nature you describe there anywhere reliable, unless I just missed it
i think the next class is going to be a transformer somewhat like a druid but it will have bow and spear skills to so like a druid and amazon togetherr.
That's alright, I wasn't exactly sure what you were getting at, but yea.
Anyway, it has sense been deleted, and you know how Blizzard is. >.>
(Not referring Medi-boy's post, but Jay Wilson's actual, official post. Again, unless my computer hates me. Granted it might of been deleted and my computer still hate me, which is -completely- possible. Anyway, enough rambling. o.O )
Edit: Diablo 1 had a character named "Rouge" so, while possible, it would have to have a different name.

Yes yes, I've copy-pasta'd yet again. But it does bear more scrutiny, no?

Actually, I don't remember also where I saw that, but I remember that was the part of a interview that they were trying to explain why the witch doctor is not the new necromancer. They said that the focus on the witch doctor is short ranged heavy damage, with those fire potions and exploding his summons. They also said that the summons were mostly a little help, not to be the focus.

The new environment below shows towers that imo look to be some kind of gun or cannon towers. What do you think?
Next:
If these people possess gun powder (or whatever else) technology, then could the next ranged class use guns? What do you think?
I know that blizzard is making an effort to make their characters unique and because it looks like we need a ranged class then I could see it.

Not to mention how theme-breaking guns would be in the Diablo world.
edit: kiserai ninja'd my post xD

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
