i was thinking maybe blizzard should offer premium content to people who wouldnt mind paying a small subscription fee. like your name in gold or a color you wanna pick. more players able to join your game. nothing that gives you a an advantage over non premium users just some fun cool added features. like maybe you wanna look for something create a game and your game will be listed above others. maybe more gold dropped/slight higher chance better stuff will drop. but nothing crazy more like a small percent increase and you cant do .01% increase because that would make super rare items more common. just some thought but nothing to serious. but nothing on the lines that you get access to different content then non premium users like in hellgate were a entire act was only for premium users. kinda sucked ass because you couldn't play with non subscribers and blah blah blah.. just tossing this out there. sorta like power user in gunbound if any 1 is familiar.
No offense but I think this is a horrible idea. Games that implement stuff like this always seem to fail. ie... hell gate london. I'm not quite sure how giving a player more gold and higher drop rates is fair at all? If they did do something like that it would have to be like you said so minuscule that it doesn't effect the rarity. And even with another .001 chance is it really worth it?

is incompatible. Higher droprates are a bonus. And, if people are to pay for it, it'd better be a major advantage, because otherwise no one will pay.
Also, pay-features have to be solid and set in stone. You can't give people an increase in drop-rates, because chances are it will be so minuscule no one will notice it's there, which in practice makes paying for it useless, whether or not you actually do get an increase in drops.
That's why Hellgate gave you specific things when you payed. Because anything else doesn't work.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
imma have to throw my vote towards no. i hate paying monthly for games, and i allready pay for WoW..... plus, your reasonings like said above, are all incompatible.
If they do Monetize b.net then I would hope they wouldn't make it change the gameplay. Maybe something like in-game e-mail system, so you can message your friends when they are offline, or able to host tournaments for prizes (key word there is host; anyone should be able to participate).
Either of those has no effect on game play but add features to the online experience that people would enjoy.
well how about your game is always listed on top till full. your text you chat in a different color. and a special background for your charectors avatar while in the general chat? unless they have a 3d general chat market placew type thing were then your charector can be outlines in a glow? just something added for people who wanna pay to support b.net? also another feature would be to remove adds?
well how about your game is always listed on top till full.
Well, how about you stop assuming that the new b.net will have the exact same shitty interface as the old one where the game name appears, and then is plunged down in a couple of seconds never to be found again? What if games are categorized by function and name instead of time created, and you navigate them using a quick search?
Also this whole discussion is kinda pointless since they confirmed that the only features you can pay for is to have your name changed, or your character moved to another realm and similar.
ya. i wonna play d3 free of charge. now maybe if they go a limited edition you might get somthing like how in WoW i saw some people get special pets like a mini diablo. but i dont think you should get stuff that players would have to pay for outside the game.
my religion.....

I hate all this premium membership shit... only separates the community between groups and it sucks...

ppl play diablo in the hopes that it will be totally free
even adding small things like that would cause discomfort for those who dont pay the fee
just cuz they dont know what additions they get or just fill something missing cuz others have it
it would overtime chase players away
kinda like how some ppl feel to play classic when theres a exp you could be playing instead
just like stuff is missing =3
