On 7:55, in the last question, the interviewer asks him:
inDiablo.de Interviewer:Will Monsters be able to use the same Skills as the characters? Like curses, spells or attacks?
And Jay replies:
Jay Wilson:Generally not. I mean, we make a few exceptions here and there.
Some skills - like for example a magical energy blast or things like that - might so similar...
like a fire arrow, if there were someone to use a bow to shoot magical arrows, he might shoot fire arrows.
Something like that. But for the most part we tend to design playerskills for players and monsterskills for monsters.
"might so similar... like a fire arrow, if there were someone to use a bow to shoot magical arrows, he might shoot fire arrows. Something like that."
He means that if a monster "someone" would use a bow to shoot fire arrows, then it will probably be like the fire arrow which the unannounced bow class will have...
From this quote, we can all be sure that one of the unannounced classes will use a bow and it will have some kind of fire arrows skill.
I know its not that of a big news to some of you because it was pretty obvious that one of the classes will use a bow, but i still think that now you can be even more sure about it.
As you said, I'm not sure there's anything earth-shattering here that he accidentally slipped on; it's a fair guess that we're going to see some variety of class specializing in ranged weapons, but it never hurts to have snippets like this to point to.
I guess the real conversation is this (that has been going on for a while in various places) -- what, specifically? Names aside, just thinking about the world and the lore, what shape will this class take?
An important thing to bear in mind is that each class has some variety of homeland / territory -- the amazons in the Skovos region south of Westmarch, the Witch Dotor from the Torajan Jungles, Barbarians from the frigid north / Arreat, the Wizard from Kehjistan...
My thinking is one class is going to come out of Xiansai, and the other possibly from the central Khanduras region, which makes me think of the Rogues, though they are all female (right?) and the class would need support for males as well.
I feel like I'm babbling, but those are some thoughts to mull over...
I remember when I read over the transcription of this interview and thought the same thing, but also realized even if it was a "leak", 1) we basically knew that one of the remaining classes would be some manner of ranged attacker, most likely a variation of an archer since they're in every RPG, and 2) he was either 1) really only using it as an example or 2) was confident enough that we would all be smart enough to realize that a ranged attacker is an integral part of the class archetypes and so would have to be in the game eventually, so he didn't feel particularly wrong in releasing a possible hint of it before the announcement.
My honest opinion is that it was just an example, since he used references from Diablo II and applied them theoretically to Diablo III to prove a point.

I think that specific Wizard in the old Blizzcon clip was, but I didn't take it as the class was representative of that region -- lore-wise, almost all of the mages have essentially come out of the east, so I'd imagine the Wizard is that region 'representative' in D3.
I'm starting to think Xiansai may be home to some kind of Diablo-i-fied ninja class, not to sound too stupid about it. Something like a mix between the Rogue and Assassin, specializing in ranged and thrown weapons with some martial arts thrown in for flavour....
Hmm... nice. The devils in the details... 'HE'
After having a Rogue and an Amazon, a male archer would be a refreshing change
And that pictures still a possibility... because if they're planning on being different then they will combine the Ranged character with another weapon type thats not Javelin

So MAYBE he was hoping we'd pick up on the artwork, and the comment and put two and two together.
Maybe as Diablofans from the previously known Diablo3.com, a fansite for an unannounced game for 3-4 years, people here have become so awesomely adept at picking up the smallest hints and details.
That's a very good point. He went out of his way to say "HE" when in the last two games it was females that were the "archer" types. Kinda like he already had something in mind.
I can imagine them using some sort of name like "Marksman" for the upcoming "ranged-class." I believe this was something talked about before - when I saw this interview last year I certainly picked up this particular detail. I didn't find it very surprising though.
Hopefully we'll find out soon enough! Blizzcon is around the corner! (And I'm going!!!)
I don't think this line, or quote really reveals anything that is of any significance. He definately couldve been referencing diabloII, or just giving an example; this doesn't necessarily mean it has anything to do with diaboo III. I personally thnk hat their won't be a bow specific character; although the charcacter might be able to use bows, I think he will he will specalize in throwing knives, or blades????

Nope:
it seems they neglected to teach our wizard manners on her native island of Xiansai,
Right. That's an IC NPC speaking about one specific wizard; specifically, the same one in the Wizard clip from last Blizzcon, like I said. I know she in particular was from Xiansai, but wizards / mages / etc. almost always 'represent' the Kehjistan region, which where this particular wizard was at when she was being written about.
My point is all classes have a very distinct regional heritage -- Amazons /etc. from those islands south of Khanduras, Barbarians from the cold north / Arreat, Witch Doctors from the Tarajan jungles, etc. etc. It's a very explicit pattern, and the Wizard is clearly representing Kehjistan.
We know -nothing- about Xiansai, except that this one specific Wizard was born there. That very same page you linked to even says that she was sent to Caldeum at an extremely young age so she could spend her formative years being taught by the mages of the city.
Though it is true that the Kehjistan region seems to be the motherland of most organized magic.
I think one of the remaining two classes will represent the desert region.
Hmm. Let me get this straight. We have a character that was born in a region Blizzard has said -nothing- about, not a word, and pre-adolesence is sent to Caldeum in the heart of Kehjistan to be trained as a Wizard, where characters / info from the other 2 games as well as every book and other piece of canon make it categorically obvious that this is, essentially, the land of mages and wizards and where they are centered and trained...
and your reasoning is that the Wizard class is the regional rep. for Xiansai. Not Kehjistan / Caldeum.
Right. Okay. Just making sure.
EDIT: For those that are a little slow on the uptake and/or have paid 2 cents of attention to the world of Sanctuary and its lore, Kehjistan basically is the desert region. Just to be clear.
Kiserai, the Wizard is not a "trained" mage or a sorceress. She (he) is an outcast, rejecting the common understanding and teachings of elemental magic. Not anything that has been really touched or explained in depth in the lore previously.
Wizards are not traditionally "schooled" anywhere.

Does the fact that Jay used "he" really matter? If each class has a male and a female version, what's the difference?
Nope:
Right on their site and right on the Diablo III Wizard's page: http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/characters/wizard.xml.
