Once you reach level 80-99 you kind of get bored...
I've mentioned something like this before, but I just imagine it being so damn fun, that I can't resist to specify even more..
In Cod: Waw, there is a zombie mode. It is unlimited, and technically you could never win, each round the zombies are faster, stronger, and attack like fricken attack choppers (with their arms).
I suggest that once you reach a certain high level, OR level 100 (to encourage players to get there; there wasn't any point in d2). There should be a bunch of end game game modes, that you ONLY unlock at a high level (or the max level).
So pretty much, you and 3-4 of your friends go into an arena, and waves of monsters run at you. Each round becomes harder, and harder, and harder. It is unlimited, and just to see how far people could get. It is fun, extremely fun...
You get absolutely NO GEAR, and NO EXP, unless they give you a small 100, or 1000 exp each 10 rounds, so you don't feel like its pointless. In cod: waw, every once in a while a max ammo, or bomb (to kill everything), or insta kill (kills with one bullet) falls to the floor. Obviously its different but there could be a mana booster, makes it load faster, health orbs, mana orbs, faster cast rate.
To the haters, it doesn't need to be completely like an arcade game, you could keep it the same gameplay, with just healthorbs. You see how many wave you can last.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There could also be a end game mode where you can choose only 5 skills from your skill tree, and you are given 30 total skill points, as a team, you must strategically combine different skills that can help you last longer.
For example, the time bubble to lsow enemies...and whirlwind to attack .. etc..
Opinions of end game modes, something to do when you've done it all. When you got to 99, have perfect gear, and want to move on...??

"Not Even Death Can Save You From Me" ~ Diablo (II)
This is actually a nice idea that I'd like too. Although everyone has their own opinions, I think I'd want something similar like the Dynasty Warrior (part 4 and 5 "extreme mode") game series on the Playstation 2 where your character could advance, explore, etc, on and on but the monsters get harder and harder. Funny you now reminded me of this, I've always wondered how good other people may be at DW extreme mode, I'll go surf on the net for this right now.
Once you reach max level, there is little to do besides farm gear for your other characters or pvp. For those who don't want to do either, and I'm sure there are plenty who just get to maxed level (or near max) and move on to other games like I did with D2, this is a good way to keep us playing and/or bring us back once we think we're done.
Theres probably going to be a ton more end game content this time around other then running bosses over and over...at least I think theyve said that....and I sure hope its true
actually having unlimited is really cool, (but it is pretty much scripted, or a very high level)
The problem with cod: waw, is that they just scripted it, to increase the amount of zombies each round..
The problem with this, is that by round 32, about, the amount of zombies spawning exceeds the amount of zombies aloud to stay on the map at one moment. Pretty much, each time a new zombie spawns and older zombie disappears..
Also, emile, the reason I said 99, because I don't expect the need to grind for 40 hours in D3. I assume we need to grind much less.
Also, if you allow it at an early level, there won't be any reason to try to get to 99. If you hear there is a fun game mode at 99, then you will try to get there. In d2, leveling from 85-99 is only for about 14 skill points, and 100++ stat points. For each level, you must grind like 20-30 baal games (i think), and try not to die in the process.
I presume that grinding will be greatly reduced, and having many endgame modes, that are ONLY available to lvl 100's is an incentive to get there..
To those people who say, we don't have 24/7 to play, then don't play. I don't play that much either, but if you don't want to put time into a game, wtf is the point..

"Not Even Death Can Save You From Me" ~ Diablo (II)
I'm certain there will be PvE activities after beating the last boss on the hardest difficulty this time around. Uber Tristram was a very good idea that worked for D2, and I'm fairly certain we'll see something similar in D2. Something I think would be very interesting would be spiced-up boss fights, where you have to do more than simpyl whack away at the boss until he dies. Something like that could easily be implemented into a wave system. Every ten levels you could get a random boss or so (and yes, I have in fact played Devil May Cry. Bloody Palace was too hard btw :P).
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
I would love to see something like this, including ultimately challenging modes such as Uber Tristram and Cow Level (or some variation).
Honestly, I think an unlimited mode would rock, but I think they should have other variations of the same game, such as a limited version. Fight waves of mostly every mob in the game (but beefed up) until you get to the end and face the D3 equiv of Uber Tristram, or something like that. The difficulty of the early mobs would be set relatively low, and each wave would become harder and harder. You and your friends would fight for survival and as all seems to come to an end, BLAM! You end up fighting three beefed up versions of the 3 primary hells themselves. Now THAT would be something epic that would make me want to play, on top of making an unlimited type variation as you have mentioned. Maybe they could even give your team a little kill counter so people can compete as to who can set the record, a new ladder of sorts. Blizz did mention implementing many new types of competative play into Diablo 3 and battlenet.

There are no stupid questions, just a bunch of inquisitive idiots.

I don't feel like finding my cd-key..
you will be level 100, you have beat the game, gone mfing and done everything possible...
This is for fun to add to the experience, zombies "nacht der Utoten" and zombies "verruckt" is the only reason I play cod: waw (waw copied cod4).
You don't realize how much fun it is until you play it..
The game will always be the same difficulty, whether your are level 20, or level 100; or for 1 player, or for 4-5 players..
The higher you level, the better your gear, and the more strategic you are with your skills/runes, then the farther you will get..
Maybe it starts with level one monsters, and lasts 20 seconds.. after 20 seconds they stop spawning..
it could take maybe 5 mins to get to a hard level..
