Okay, here's a question for you all ... not sure if it's been asked yet or not.
Once you have completed the game entirely on a certain difficulty, should the map be revealed to you whenever you go back and play through again? (For instance, you create a normal 'X Boss Run' game, and you have completed the game on normal, so the in-game map would be revealed to you) But on any difficulty you hadn't completed entirely, the map would not be revelead. (even if you've done act 1-3 of nightmare, if you go back to act 1 on nightmare it's still hidden until you beat it)
What would you all think of having something like this? Because IMO, Diablo 2 would have gotten pretty bland without map hack. Now granted, I never used map hack until last year, but the reason I never needed it in my original D2 days was because I was a complete computer gaming n00b and didn't try to collect items - I just wanted to level. But when finding items and attempting to do runs, maphack is almost essential to keep from going insane.
I like the idea, but it should be harder. Complete the entire game on all difficulties, complete all the available quests that your character gets and reach the max level then your character can be a walking maphack. As long as they get rid of the ordinary maphack and get rid of level bots, they could make it balanced
It would definitely give those last few levels more meaning once you've maxed all the skills that you need... Thats something that never made sense to me in Diablo 2, there was no real reason to get to 99 - At least not a good enough reason to justify putting in that amount of effort

I agree with this with one exception. Whos to say that D3 will have quests like D2? wut if the quests are like WoW, and there are hundreds of them? theres no way you can do ever single one. if thats the case, u should just have to finish major quests i think. quests that really take you through the story line.
Yeah, as to what someone else said, I just want to outline of the map, and a locale on the boss.
But to expand on what Genesis said. Perhaps they could do it in level intervals for each difficulty. For instance, once you've completed normal and all the quests and have reached level 50, for instance, then the normal map will be shown. For the next difficulty, it could be level 70, next one could be 85, and the final difficulty could be level 99/100.
Well there is really no point in discussing this because we all ready know how it will be done. They said the overworld is almost completely static (i swear they didnt say it was 100 % static), and the dungeons will be randomized.
I like randomization, mainly in dungeons. I am slightly scared that they are not randomizing the overworled, but im sure itll be good. That is why diablo is so amazing and replayable, so i hate the idea of having the map permanently (except for the overworld as its static).
They said that the world will be static because it allows them to make the scenes much more detailed, which basically means that we will have a prettier world instead of one thats made out of blocks.
What do you think about the scenes, form what you've seen? I like it more and more each time I see it!
The second gameplay trailer is much darker than anything in D2. Especially the nightime exterior.

Four acts, twice the amount of quests per act. I'll never get bored of repeating that to new people on this forum who don't seem to have time to refer to all the info released about the game before posting all sorts of silly crap.
I didn't really liked the mini-map in Diablo II, at least not the full screen version of it (although I used only that one)! I kind of like the Diablo III one, where it's placed in a top right corner, and that's it! I think that's perfect!
D2 had a minimap just like what you have described for D3.
Yes but it was very awkward and not really useful at all. It basically worked the same way as the big overlay map, except that it was smaller, and centered in the corner of your screen, making it impossible to see 1/4 of what you might want to see. I also remember it's tendency to glitch from time to time.
D3 has a light radius, but it's not so prominent since there are a lot of light sources in the environment. And that is a necessity, since you need to have light sources for objects to be visible in a 3D world.
D2 light radius was lame and countered by adding more gamma Woho here I am the glowing hero! I like the D3 way of light radius, the sources of light in the world create it.

I like D3's new light method, but D2's light radius added to the lonely sort of quest the storyline had with it. Made you feel like it was you and you alone. Also contrasted to all the *Evil* that was about in the gameplay. Very symbolic to me.

So, would something like this be acceptable?

I don't want an always random overworld.

But do you think it was more dark and gothic than D3 will be? Not just on graphics, but on storyline as well.

I hope the minimap is the same.

If u dont install LOD you don't get the minimap
