Something has happened to diablo. My thoughts are it isn't diablo. I just have trouble thinking it. (Mods-->I didn't look too hard for a thread like this, so if you wanna delete, go ahead.)
Perhaps you could size down the pictures a bit (a lot). I'm using 1680x1050 and they're still HUGE - Those pictures are going to be hell for the 800x600 user
I'd like to think that theres actually not that much difference in Diablo between 1 and 2, apart from the main thing being his posture and the way he runs. His spinal column became less bipedal and more animal like
Diablo in 3 however... hmmm... Looks stronger, this does not bode well for us my friend
I think that's it's either not diablo, or a diablo that has gone through a transformation of some sort for some reason. I guess that doesn't leave many other possibilities...
I feel a pattern has been altered. Diablo from D3 looks more realistic, which isn't bad! I mean, that is what I would expect when I think of brimstone demons. I just don't know.

Maybe he went through one HELL of a change, if you understand me.

Wel, I like this new art if it stays. I can adapt.
lol, hey did blizzard ever think of making a diablo trading card game like magic or yu-gi-oh? (i personally think trading card games cant escape from being nerdy) but they are addicting, especially when i was younger
Perhpaps it is Diablo (D3) because of the crevice in his head. But then that wouldn't make sense, since that was on the warriors (wanderers) head, and this is supposedly diablo in his hell form. Idk anymore.

Exactly, i asume the same. In unnoficial pages and other forums i read that he (diablo) arrives to the earthrealm with the meteor, fullfiling the profecy.
Diablo 1, with a weaker hostage, he is very humanoid
Diablo 2, with a recipe more powerful, when ready, almost demonlike (more lizard than demon)

Diablo 3, pure form: ROCKS!
Maybe he's like the Balrog in Lord of the Rings - The fellowship of the ring, like Dop said
Diablo in Diablo III looks more like some kind of elemental with all that fire about him and the way his whole body just looks like bones, horns, and spikes. Even his face doesn't look like it's covered in skin. I think this change in art was to make him seem more representative of terror than his previous incarnations.

I think it's a good way to do it then, if that's what they were going for. Diable having actual skin makes him seam more mortal than an elemental figure. Good call,

Various concept art and artist's interpretations aside, the Prime Evils really have no true physical form. Mephisto does say to Diablo as he's changing from the Wanderer into himself to assume his true form. But I think even then that is just his general appearance and can take on multiple forms depending on either a physical host, or whichever realm the Prime Evil is in.
I firmly believe that the Diablo we see in the D3 trailer is a form meshed together with his two brothers. I believe that all (yes, including Baal because I don't believe that whole theory about how his Soulstone was never destroyed) were eventually banished into the Great Abyss. Formless, their essence was so great that they all gravitated toward each other and managed to coalesce into a corporeal form and eject themselves from the Greaty Abyss (assuming the GA is a canon thing, and I think it is).
Even Baal was constantly evolving his physical from from the moment he escaped Tal Rasha's tomb. And Mephisto's physical form that we see in D2 is a fucked to death abomination of Que Hegan.

You have a point, but I must disagree on your argument that their forms are meshed together. To me, it seems unlikely that they wouldn't put something like that in the books if it didn't happen. Like when talking about Mephisto, it would never mention the other two heads on his body of Diablo and Baal (I'm being dramatic). I do however think it true that their forms are ever-changing almost, and that this new form could just be Diablo with all his power in the burning hells. If I am correct, I can't wait to see his brothers!

You hit the nail on the head
