in the demo cain took a tp to town when rescued by the barb, i really hope they dont get rid of tps not because i use them as a measure to escape, but think about it, people who need wp's from other players or u just started and someone else is in a place like the dark woods which would take forever for you to run there or the summoner you went the wrong direction and dont have tele bc ur low lvl and u want a tp, not to run all the way there, thats why i dont want to see tps dissapearing
I hope that you can not use them as often as you could in D2. Like someone was saying before you will take that area more serious and be caution to fight in there.

well maybe they can have areas where you cannot cast a tp like the arreat summit that would be better, plus u cant leave either
i think you still need to have them, but can only be casted when your not in battle (havent been hit in 5 seconds or something).
i dont want to be in the middle of two WPs and have something break or run out of something and have to run all the way back to the WP i just came from. d3 is about action and going forward, without having tps to deal with certain scenerios your just going to slow the game down.
I thought I read or saw an interview where JW said that when someone joins a game they will be able to start at whatever location you are at; could be wrong though. TP's might still be around, but I doubt they will be as prevalent as in D1 & D2 since they want to really give the feeling of danger and having the ability to just zip back to town whenever you like kinda takes that away.

This....they stated before all D2 and well D1 was buying up a ton of pots going into monsters and when u ran out of pots tp back and buy full pots again...aka you have infinite life unless somehtign suddendly kills you in a hit or 2....which is bad design
They said that theres a chance we will have no TPs. But new features will apear to furfil it's void, like check points, that are very commo and easy to find and when you die you get back to one, so no need to run all the world to find your corpse.
And about making a friend cast a tp and let you enter a high elvel area.. Thats a rush. And rushs are a exploit. And exploits should not exist.
But if theres a TP, it will be serely nerfed. Using it as a escape tool is totally out of question.
i dont know. i feel we should have town portals. cause if you look at the history of diablo. town portals are a big stand out in the diablo games. i dont know another game that uses town portals. so i think they should have them. but maybe instead of having them being sold at a vendor. maybe they can only be dropped by enemies. its 20 years later. who knows what has been forgotten. maybe everyone just stopped using them cause they never had the need. now that we have to fight agian. they could be in little suply. i think that sounds cool.
The concept is good, but the execution was semi-poor in Diablo II. Use them to go to town and back..keep one open for as long as you want. There should be a time limit/every opened portal. They should also be of limited use, so that the quick return back to town means much more than a measly 100 gold coins (I don't really know how much a scroll costs).

what are some of you guys' thoughts
Your concerns are not valid, as they have stated that there is an option to instantly teleport yourself next to your friends and where the battle is raging. They said they are even considering to make a scroll that serves that purpose.
Yes, you don't have an easy way out, but you do have an easy way in, if your co-player wants to 'summon' you inside.
That should answer your questions and put this thread to rest.
And make people stand in front of the boss for 7 minutes because the CD is not over yet, makes for a real fast and exciting gameplay!
Get over it. It's going to be more hardcore.
If you think of a TP as an escape mechanism, a CD prevents it from being whored. If you use TP to save time between killing shit and selling shit, most of the time you wouldn't need it more than every 15 minutes or so. It really has nothing to do with being "hardcore."

If i got Dimebogs post right, a cooldown is exactly the thing that makes people wait before approaching difficult situations. The party just waits until everone in the group has just recharged his TP, so everyone can use his TP at least once to escape. So a CD doesnt prevent Tps from beeing whored, it just causes the whore to wait more often...
This is why i voted for no TPs while in a fight at all.
However an interuptable cast time of 4-5 sec would be a better idea than a cooldown. What do you think about that ?

TP just make the game's worse. Can runaway whenever you can take out the feeling of danger the games must have.
The potions, the town portals and the skill system was something i hated in D2 in the first day i played it. I'm glady they gone.
