I see.. well if your really offened by that I guess so but that doesn't seem like a top priority. And they already have the squelch, but does it really make a difference between Fuck you and **** you?
since when has the rating stopped kids from playing games? most parents will just buy the game, i know i buy rated m games for my friends under 17, cause its not that big of a deal
Shako-
1. Blizzard would not include a chat filter that could not be turned off. Ex. Wow.
2. Since when do games that include heads getting bitten off (siegebreaker assault beast) and monsters exploding in a gory fashion get rated T? I'll quote you, in response to the remark about children. "Why are you growing a pussy..." "... you illiterate." "Go back to World of Warcraft because I can tell you can't even begin to comprehend the Diablo community." Ad hominem does not mean maturity, Shako. Quite the opposite.
3. Then beat the game and play it on nightmare/hell. Or bring in additional friends, but have them stand around doing nothing to increase the difficulty.
I agree with most of what you're saying, but I'm also talking about the teamwork and maturity bit. I couldn't image a group of "retards holding a mouse" successfully achieving some hard task or goal. I'm actually dreading the release of D3 because of the "eye candy" that will draw younger players in. I'm worried about this because I enjoy the atmosphere of Diablo 2 being a mature environment (Except when there's some damn nker), and I would hate to see that broken.
Diablo II's Battle.net, along with any other gaming environment, is full of immature little idiots who can't come up with a decent argument to defend their masculinity quotient besides calling tons of people thirty levels lower than them or people who've obviously beaten him/her to a pulp via PVP a "fkcin nub" and repeating that as many times as necessary to annoy said person enough so that they leave. There's the pkers who kill innocent levelers in Baal games, clog their bodies with monsters, call them all "noobs", and then laugh for a good straight hour. There's tons of people who can't make a good argument against anyone, so they just curse them out. There's trade scammers, hackers, dupers, and the list goes on.
Wait a minute, they're in every game!
So, I both agree and disagree with you. Filters and such are mostly pointless because they don't fix moronic behaviors and people always have a way around filters- as in spelling a curse word differently or inventing a new one that eventually garners game-wide acceptance as such. But, if such things are able to be toggled, and limit profanity for those who don't feel like exposing themselves to it, go for it. They have every right to do so if it doesn't effect you. But, like you said, they shouldn't aim for a lower game rating just for more players. Mostly because kids are going to play it if they want, anyway; they always do.
Edit--
Ok, whether your 14 or 41, you can still be imature. I personally couldn't care less about someone's age. If your mature, then cool, if not, then I don't want to play with you.
Also, chat filters will just make it say YOU **** rather then remove the entire message.
And, Link's totally right. Personally, I think you're more likely to find more *old* immature people on an M rated game because they think that an M game actually means its a mature game for mature people. If anyone doesn't get that, I don't feel like elaborating right now.
And, as he said, any block head can guess between the lines and count the number of asterisks to get an idea of what he or she or it is saying.

Maybe some players who think they're good do things like that. I only took pleasure in taunting people 85+ with awesome gear who still sucked ass because of their shitty build/charms. Guess we won't have that wonderful luxury anymore now that everyone gets their build free though =P.

2. If it's rated 18+ there will be even more "little bitches" looking for boobs(which will be nice, but that's not what it's about).
3. The point of all Diablo games is that you can even be a retard holding a mouse and still being able to play it. However, it takes skill to truly master it, and there are higher difficulty settings, hardcore mode, etc.
yes because when i think m rated game, i think boobs... >_>
1. Chat filter
2. Rated T (E.G. Little bitches 10-14 coming in and being... little bitches.)
3. Too easy (If it has a more steep learning curve it will sweep out the retards.)
The best part about Diablo 2 (In my opinion, besides the actual gameplay) is that it is old enough so younger people who are looking for eye candy and not a quality game play WoW or some other game instead.
1. I don't see how chat filter affects on gameplay. But I'd like to see a user configurable filter system where you could fill in the words that you want filtered or any messages that contain word or some words.
I'd definately use it for "noob, n00b, nub", "PP". All those spamming idiots that are in bnet nowadays would stay silent. Also an ignore list that wouldn't reset when you log off would be awesome. Every idiot would find their way to the list and I would be able to play without annoyance.
2. Ratings doesn't prevent younger people from playing games.
3. Yeah the game now is definately too easy.. how can someone get level 90 in some hours or days? It should be weeks. You shouldn't be able to get boosted by others.. thats how "the little bitches" get level 90 and knowing almost nothing about the game, while when playing normally to level 90 would teach them a lot more about the game.

Totally agreed. Those b.net exploits ruin the game...
And it should take months (2 or 3) to get 90+.

Faded out her voice and soiled her name
And like marked pages in a diary
Everything seemed clean that is unstained
The incoherent talk of ordinary days
Why would we really need to live?
Decide what is clear and what's within a haze
What you should take and what to give" - Opeth
