Well, there has to be a holy man (spells toward damage to undead/healer/helper of the party by using auras etc) in this demonic world; not sure if it will be a Paladin, maybe even something like a monk if monks used weapons/armor. Some sort of Monk/Priest or maybe, MAYBE, a knight would all fit into the Diablo Universe.
Diablo still needs a Nature, Holy and Ranged Character. I don't know what assassin was for in D2, although martial arts type charcter was something unexpected, unique and fun to play.
Who knows what they will make but they are the obvious choices. No doubt they will get rid of most auras and make them passive, as D3 will be a game for very casual gamers as they have already gotten rid of anything that takes work (picking up gold, skills of switching spells fast to just more passive skills). I do hope they make D3 so that people with skill will somehow rise up over the never-played-before players. So far everyone will be equal, as Blizzard doesn't want to upset anybody, but doesn't care about what anyone thinks about the new art style
The Witchdoctor is replacing Necro. It really doesn't have much to do with Nature. It's spells are curses, summoning some sort of zombies/undead and very light offensive spells. A Driud would have to be a new class, as they don't have a shapeshifter/elemental fighter/another summoner, but not of undead.
Personally, i don't like the Witchdoctor that much now (i say now because when the game is made i'll probably love every character), because i really liked the Necro. I guess he was very OP (don't argue with me, he was, Blizzard even said it themselves), but Witchdoctor isn't a worthy replacement in my opinion.
As for the other stuff, im not saying all ranged should be dumped on 1 character. But a character should be a ranged specialist. not saying he/she can't use stuff like javelins and pikes etc, but yeah.
Paladins were nice pre 1.10(in classic) when you actually had a nice variety of auras to offer to your party and you could flash holy freeze to slow the monsters and then start throwing hammers.. hammers that wasn't OP.

hehehe I remember this. The paladins skills really were way OP tho from 1.10 and they had a lot of synergies with each other it was ridiculous.

Yeah so much synergie that even need to make decisions.. If you like fanatism you better get zeal and sacrifice cause vegeance haven't synergies. Synergies suck so much =(

They dont suck but when they make a character have 4 or 5 builds that completely dominate every other build well....it sucks :P. Vengeance has a aura to go with it, Conviction.
I want Holy Freeze, Shock, and Fire back, but I don't want them to suck like the last game!!! They were ok in PvM, but sucked ass in dueling. The only way you killed the guy was by going near him when he was naked running for his body.

Holy freeze wasnt TO BAD. Before 1.11 and before smiters got big a holy freeze charger was a decent dueler
Holy Freeze was nice in duels you could flash it and slow down your enemy for while and bought nice amount of time for you to FoH or whatever them down
Synergies are ok but they are just poorly designed on top of the lousy skills of D2 .. if they had revamped the whole skilltrees in D2 it might have been a bit better, but that would have cost a lot of resources for balancing and testing.
Anyways I hope to see some kind of Inquisitor or Cleric or something.. Someone with a really powerfull spells from summoning temprorary minions to fight for you to mind controlling and turning undead + some holy damaging spells and melee abilities.
Dude it's going to be complicated anyway you look at it.
Really paladins are just holy warriors and should be treated as such. They shouldn't be as strong as a barb because they don't just specialize in hand to hand/warcry thingies. They shouldn't be as magical like a sorc in casting crap loads of whatevers (Hammers in this case). I think the Auras where a very good idea and how they affect the people around you as well. I really don't know though because if you take into account everything they are doing with the new skill runes and everything it could fly into a thousand different places. I dono, I think they should be a character that enhances their own selfs as well as the people around them for sure, but something has to make them deadly as well.
As for Auras they hit almost all the bases with D2. As for attacks i really don't know what to suggest pallies just seem to have everything they need and then a little more as of D2. I like the angel ideas that that one dude was talking about.
Haha- just though of this. How bout like a miricle skill. Has a 5% chance of happening or whatever that will give you guys immunity for a given amount of time. Heck i dono, then that gets even more complicated. Poor blizzard dudes
im guessing the pally with return in the exp along with the necro...(I will proceed to talk out of my ass) the amazon class i doubt will return since they will probably add an archer or ranged melee char the sorc was replaced by the wizard, and the reason i say the necro will return is bc Jay Wilson hinted multiple times that he might and that the witch doctor is different from the necro (the necro part was not out of my ass) its in the 1up interview just too lazy to quote it i also think the assasin will return and so will the druid the druid more than the assasin bc the morphing is just a unique thing that no other class has and bc i think they might explore the land of which the druid came from...those were my 2 cents correct me if im wrong or if u know anything i dont please i always appreciate that
So basically, you're saying we're going to see nearly every old character return in addition to the already announced characters and hypothesized characters. I don't get it
1. Paladin
2. Necromancer
3. Assassin
4. Druid
5. Barbarian
6. Witch Doctor
7. Wizard
8. Ranged Class
I would like to see the necro back. They could do wonders with the Pure Summon / Curse concept. Pluss making a serious poison dagger tree this class would be amazing =(
