Not sure if there's been a topic on this yet, haven't read that far ahead. I LOVE the destructible environment; that's just how games should be.
I'd like to see a lot of environemnt "changes" after completing quests, and flipping switches, casting certain spells, killing certain enemies etc.
Like The Tainted Water Supply quest in D1 and the Den of Evil quest in D2, once you clear it all out there's that heavenly "hum" sound and the lighting changes from all dark to beams of light and stuff. I'd still totally want it to look dark and creepy, but like there's that hint of hope that things are being restored and going back to normal.
As far as the destructible environment goes, I know that the dungeons will randomly contain features in the environment that can be exploited; for example, a chandelier hanging from a cord that you could cut to cause it to fall down and crush anything in the center of the room, or a teetering brick wall you could knock over onto monsters. That sort of thing.
not the quest itself, the after effect of the quest
you know what i mean; maybe that was a bad example
Tainted Sun in Act II: the whole screen goes almost pitch black except your light radius and explosions/magic effects and then when you break open the Alter fo eth Sun it goes back to normal
theres a small village you can save, and afterward, instead of it being gloomy and dark and all the villagers are hiding and scared and ugly looking, it looks like its starting to get all cheery and better.
thatd be a cool quest, or sidequest.

"to the worm in horseradish, the world is horseradish."
no no god no den of evil is probably the lamest quest on diablo 2 after tainted sun.....

Act1: 2 quests, skill and Andy
Act2: 3 quests skill, ammy, and Duriel
Act3: 4 quests those one guys, attribute and Meph
Act4: 2 quests skill and Diablo
Act5: 3 quests ancients, attribute and Baal

actually, the socket quest was also great and the "naming quest" from Anya was also original. I love that reward but only in nightmare and normal mode since we needed to do Hell Pindle Runs.
