In a some of blizzards previous games there has been a mapmaker (starcraft, warcraft). I was wondering if you think they will do this in D3. Thoughts!
Not to sound negative, but I strongly doubt it. The maps that are implemented in RTS are no way comparable to a CRPG environment. The level of complexity is totally different. Not saying it's impossible but unlikely.
Although some past RPG's had editors attached to them, the Diablo franchise has never been the case. Mostly because other RPG's don't have the random dungeon feature that Diablo has. Unless Blizzard felt there was a huge demand for it, they wouldn't need to create such an editor. Thus the reason why they offer replayability through randomness, so folks don't have to go out of their way to make new maps.
The RTS genre (Starcraft) doesn't offer this randomness in landscape since the game is played on a single map from start to end. Therefor the public would expect that an editor be included to be able to create a range of various battlefields. When they make an RPG however, they don't just create battlefields, they make worlds and insert randomness in it.

Yeah I don't think they will add that feature. They have randomized dungeons, that’s about as far as they will go.
personally I'm happy with that, I don't care for a map creator! I understand the potential as far as modability, I used to play Warcraft 3 online, some of the custom maps were awesome! but this is not the type of game for it.
Everything in Diablo is randomized already. The only reason for having a map editor is to make new maps to explore, but if the computer already does that for you automatically...what's the point? Also, why would they waste development time on a single-player-only feature, when this game focuses on multiplayer co-op?
