Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.

4 = better.
1. More Exp more likely.
2. Full game is easier to obtain.
3. usually if i had 8 people in my game there was like 3 afk anyways
4. Less Lag
And for the people who said they wanted to play with friends why dont you make teams and play in different groups and see who gets the farthest. >.< Then trade off items you may want. And im thinking they will have a trade channel where there are more players but the channel is only dedicated to trade.
An ideal maximum number of players would be 6. I have a feeling if its going to be 4, some friends are going to be left out of the fun. Then if you split up the game so no one is alone the rooms will be kinda dead with 2 players in one game and 3 players in another. If there was a 6 slot game, splitting 7 people into 2 games would make it much better.
On lag issues, i think we have the technology to add 2 more people.
I could live with 4 but I think 5 would be the key number, especially if there are 5 classes (as far as I know). One of each in an ideal situation I suppose...
But still 4 will be fine, again we got to trust Blizzard.

Yeah, just think. You wont be able to have one of each class in a game.
But I actually like having less players, it seemed hard to keep track of everyone during the rare occasions of a full game. And on average there was 1.2 players per game for diablo 2. So I guess a lot of people like playing alone anyway. I prefer playing with two or three other people so this is perfect for me
As for PvP I like a lot of people spread out, I think they will make seperate dueling games, like a PvP tab.
In some article from WWI, I read that they were thinking probably 4 because of how big and explosive all of the new abilities were, 6 or 8 people all using skills at once would just be a shapeless blob of color and chaos. Just throwing that in there.
id much prefer 8 over 4, but its really not something thats killing me....
Same. Out of everything I've seen so far in D3, this is probably the only thing I'm sad about. I mean, just one more player, increasing it to 5 makes such a huge difference.
But I understand why they did this and I fully support them :).
I understand the matters behind this maximum of 4 players in a game decision, but...
WE CAN'T HAVE ONE OF EACH CLASS IN A GAME?! This is pretty disappointing since I'd like to experience the good and bad sides of every class from the first steps of a game
Oh yeah, I forgot about not having one of each class per game :(. BOOOO.
They won't let PvP die, it's too popular of an aspect. Probably special games for PvP that are larger or something.
The PvP community is pretty big in a lot of games nowadays.
I do hope they increase the player limit for such games, no kind of tournament or arena will save D3 if it's limited to only 4 players.
Well I'd assume tournament games/arenas may have more, maybe 4vs4 at the highest or something.
mmmm.
I was thinking in something like 5x5, one spot for each class.
With some destructible environment!
Like a bar fight map! With tables and chairs!

Just make an option for custom game with rules and max number of players... like no pots and what not
