I am only hoping full sets will be the most powerful items in the game for certain builds. Maybe a combination of uniques and rares can be good for other builds, but I don't want to see items that are universally better for any class than their respective sets as it happened in D2. Certain runewords were a better choice than any class set. That was so wrong...
The con of having a set for certain builds is that once the best build is found, that set will be worn by eveyone then....
Very true, although, the set items can be like the Tiers in WoW. They should be very hard to get, and as an add on, we dont want everyone looking the same, they could have different sets for different types of builds.
For example, im gonna use D2 for this but a bone necro could have a set specifically for bone, a java zon would have a set specifically for that ect.

I would help the homeless if i only knew where they lived
Every item is made for a specific class with a specific spec, it sucks ass.
That is a 1000x better concept than what they did with D2 lod where a few items were universally the best items for EVERY class. Trading was destroyed because every class wanted the same runewords and there was no variety in demand. If I want Enigma and Shako for my Assassin and you want Enigma and Shako for you paladin and the third guy wants Enigma and Shako for his sorc, we can join a game and look at each other all day long. If each class wanted different items, and furthermore, each spec of each class demanded different items, trading would flourish because of the variety in demand.
Worst idea EVER..this is not wow, sets are not bound to different specs and not even to classes...in diablo a char is focused on more or less the same stats regardless of its spec.
Also item stats are much more vague in diablo, and there are no armor classes...did you never play d2? The gear system in WoW is crap, it does neither allow individuality nor experiments. Every item is made for a specific class with a specific spec, it sucks ass.
We could say the same of you friend. As you either A) lost all your memories of D2, never played D2, or C) just never used set items, most of the set was a generic set, but then 1 or 2 was only for X class.
Contrary to Popular Oppinion here, the WoW system is actually working, and demand is up. Let's just keep Bind on Pickup out though, so that trading may grow.

Not much to add, just wanted to say that I agree. Just, no spec sets... That's more complicated then Diablo is supposed to be...
Actually every class has one class specific set. That makes seven. The non-specific sets in D2 were absolutely useless.
You mean trading real money for items? Because that's gonna grow all right.
Yes sets do encourage trade.
I think sets should make you a solid character, but I dont think the best characters in the game should be running around in sets. They should make a solid character that can complete the game, but they certainly shouldn't have the highest damage output. There is a less thinking involved in wearing a set. "Set it and forget it" for most of your item slots, there isn't much "I need more resistance so I'll wear those boots..."

Untill people find the perfect group of items, then sets will be worthless.
The main issue here is that it takes a few days to hit 50, and if your good 3 more days to hit 80 or 85. It shouldn't be a breeze to level. It just shouldn't.
Who rammed botted items up your ass so you have to cry about it all the time? No one is going to stop you from buying items you fucking loser.
Im crying about it all the time...thats why I was the first one to bring it up in a thread called "SET ITEM EFFECT". Plus I have never bought or sold any video game item or character in my life, but the people that do that have very little effect on my own playing experience. Also if your issue is botted items, work to get rid of bots, dont work to get rid of trade.

I never worked to get rid of trade. And I was not the one who brought up the issue of bound items.
You are the one who jumped crying at me about something that shouldn't concern you. Being a bit overly sensitive and protective to your rights to buy items you don't deserve?

The whole premise of you're pure mode idea is "no trading".

Anyone who wants to buy an item and does so, deserves it. You probably bought a car that you didn't make and you've probably bought a steak and you didnt raise the cow, slaughter the cow or even cook the meat. But thats the great thing about society, you do something for society, get money, buy something you don't know how to make or just don't want to make. So you can't say they didn't earn it...they earned it in real life doing their job, probably fabricating the computer parts you used to 'earn' your items.

Right. And how does that concern you? You can still do what you want on the other servers.

Thanks for informing me that Diablo became real life. I thought you should be able to compete with me as an equal in D3 even though you're a loser in real life. Now I understand it's one and the same thing, thanks.
Right. And how does that concern you? You can still do what you want on the other servers.
It concerns me because you come into every thread and probably will log into normal b.net just to talk down to people and ask them where they got their items.

Thanks for letting me know I'm a loser. I think you're a winner. Also I never said Diablo was real life, I said real life has an economy where people can buy goods and services that they dont want todo. One of these services apparently is item hunting.

And then you kill itemisation.
Set items should not be the best items imo. If sets would be the strogest, it would take out player's item building. The best item must be Unic/Crafted in my opnion.
Of course Enigma, Shako, Mara's and other was imbalanced items. But it was not for the fact that it was Unic/RW, but because they status was totally overpowered. If there was a Set item in the game the same thing would hapen, except it was restricted to a class.
And they already said that they don't wanna focus Class Specific items, once it kills the trading economy.
Also the problem with set it was too hard to complete it compered with the bonus. I don't think the set should be strongest, but it shoudl be easier to get.
And don't take WoW as a model. Theres no equipament trading in wow and trading are not a considerable part of the game. Nobody in wow becomes strong because he know how to trade. In diablo, have a good notion of trading can make you get a Enigma out of nowhere and then your character becomes pretty strong.
The best items should be rare, because they are so random. It should be hard to get a perfectly good rare. That way, everybody looks different. Having the best items being set or unique is retarded. Everybody will endup having the same looking gear. it's annoying, and it makes you feel like you are not really the best.
Rare ftw.

I think each set should have custom models for them.
I think the uber power runewords need to go....there needs to be a balance between whats sets and runewords offer....because some sets, are completely useless....no real point at all in having them, while everyone under the sun is looking for Enigma and Shakos.....it's lame. There should be at least one bad ass set per class, and it should have res on it......but not too powerful......just enuff buffs to warrant getting it for whatever said class, but afterwards, more to find, better gear to build, it's an item based game, all about the booty...have good items just balance them out so one doesn't trump all the rest.....
I remember before jsp trying to trade was a joke.....an economy will be created, thats for certain, one thing as well, a game called Sacred is out there where set items came at different levels with different stats....thats may be an idea as well, find a set peice at level 50, well,, thats a lev 50 set peice, but you can also find it at level 5
Now just imagine the trading on jsp if you have set items at different levels.....pay attention boys! That's a damn good idea!
I am only hoping full sets will be the most powerful items in the game for certain builds.
Lol! Having a mandated assortment of items as the undisputed best for your build would suck ass. Mixing and matching uniques, runewords, and select set items was so much better.

I can see an angelic set in full plate, when you complete it you get wings.
