Every point you have there is basically just a feature of Diablo II, aside from TP's. Few people realize that Diablo I and II are drastically different. The things you mentioned are staples of the Diablo franchise, they're features that came and went.
(In the first sentence the reason I didn't include potions is because in Diablo I potions were a lot harder to find and buy if you didn't use the duping glitch- gold was not as prevalent which meant that instead of buying gear you had to buy potions and monsters hardly ever dropped them. In Diablo II, that mechanic completely changed to potions dropping every 2 monsters or so.)

gold being worthless in d2 was a screw up, not a feature. You think blizz meant to do that?

I did more potion spamming in d1 actually...
You buy potions at a store in D1 and they droped from like every 20 guys you killed. in d1 and 2 they wernt rare. But no i wish gold did have a value its just they made to much of it . If every monster didnt drop gold i think it woulda been worthless because it was harder to get. But Yes D1 was different from Diablo 2 but i think Diablo 2 was what got Diablo on the map for being a great game. Yes diablo one was great but im sure alot more people liked diablo 2. So why fix whats not broken. I think they may be over doing it and fixing to much that worked perfect in D2, and afraid they will ruin it.
each title put blizzard more and more on the map, there was no one title :3
Diablo 2 did change a few things, like getting rid of the spellbooks and such, but the game still looked and felt very much like diablo
I'm not feeling it anymore, I'm not seeing it anymore...

Hm... You must not have played the same game as me. I specifically remember when I played Diablo I as a refresher storyline-wise last month that I found no potions until King Leoric. Gold dropped in too little amounts to get much of anything until half way through the game, and any gold I did find I saved to buy potions because I found none. Odd.
What if they make it to where when the boss isn't attacking anyone it regenerates HP at a super fast rate to keep people from doing that sort of thing?

That's odd, I played D1 again last year and didn't have any problem with healing. There's always a healing scroll/book/staff that drops somewhere and combined with the few potions you find I never had any problem and I went through the whole game 3 times with every class, and that's aside all those times I played before.
Oh, and when you get to hell Pepin starts selling an infinite number of full rej pots, so combined with the healing spell it gives you virtually infinite life and mana.
Getting back on topic though, I think the devs are just taking logical step in the evolution of the franchise, and in the end we're just going to get the best D3 possible and if it turns out to be crap then so be it, go back playing D2.
Nah.. it's blizzard.. it will be awesome.. don't worry..
Just take the time and let them do their job.. i'm sure it will be freaking awesome when it's done.

anythings possible with the changes that have occurred in blizzard.
x2 on both. I have been thoroughly addicted to every single Blizzard game save Lost Vikings :).
Blizzard specifically said what was wrong with previous systems, and made specific corrections. In this case, previous system enabled you to visit town whenever you wished, which made the game too easy on that level. The checkpoint system is here to correct that.
They can co-exist. It's actually what is most likely to happen.
Erm, I said it was the same thing :). Aren't they, though? Except with a way point, you have to manually step on it / activate it to respawn there, but with a check point, I think if you just reach a certain point that will be the last place you respawn. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.
However, if what I am saying is right, there would be use for co-existence at all. It would be pretty redundant.
By the way, do you have any evidence that both checkpoints and waypoints will co-exist?

I said they are likely to, not that they will. I haven't any evidence, it just seems logical to me.
Way points enable you to teleport from one point to another, unlike checkpoints, which are merely respawning spots and nothing more. There are likely to be a lot of checkpoints, unlike way points (once again, it's just my own logic).
Man you guys all across the forums seem to be expecting way to many things to be revealed at Blizzcon. I mean cmon guys, its stuff like this that's going to get you disapointed at the end of the event if it doesn't get revealed. I think these are the kind of mechanics that are likely to get changed/tweaked until the very end according to fan/tester feedback. Which is why we are discussing it in the first place. If they purposly create a thread on the forums for us to talk about it and try to give positive output and you come and say "well lets just wait and see what they show us at blizzcon" then you might as well not be posting at all right?

"graveyards" depending on the zone you are so u just rez back there. Though, I think that leaving your "body" where u died is still the best mechanic. When u die in a 30 mobs mass with Extra Fast Lightning Enchanted Unique monster is like such a challenge to get your corpse back, even back then, when the AI wasn't that great. I would love to know how I would manage to recover my body in the middle of an army, naked in D3. Just my thoughts
Guild Wars has merchants scattered throughout the game world outside of town. They might have this in D2, reducing the need to continually return to town so much. However when you complete a quest, you do want to go back to town usually...to get your reward, so I hope it's not that much trouble.
Yea i don't want d3 to suck cuzz it will probly be another 10 years befor d4 comes out.

I fail to see what all the fuss is about.
Who said it was the same thing?
And who said there won't be any way points?
