I haven't seen much talk about the HUGE inventory change. In the game play video the 1h axe takes up the same about of room as his 2h mace. Everything is on seperate slots like WoW and not the old grid like in D2. Any one think that this is bad? Or why is it good? I'd like to get hear what you guys think.
Personally though, I loved the old Diablo 2 grid, made it more realistic.
Oh, and it seems you get more space in your inventory as you level OR you can equip bags (the video shows something that looks a lot like bag slots). I'll try to get a picture up of what I'm talking about. Bottom right corner of his inventory screen.
I hated the D2 inventory. I still play it everyday now. Last night I left town went through one floor in a dungeon and already filled up my inventory. I prefer it to be more focused on action and not inventory management.
Of course there are people who like the inventory management the way it is.
I am especially glad to hear they want to get rid of the need to have mule characters and are making a way to easily share items between your own characters. (they haven't decided on exactly how they will do it)
But it sounds like the stash will be much larger too and hopefully shared.
Also as far as seeing the items in a bigger view on the inventory screen. I think they are shying away from that because armor will look completely different based on your class. So they put the character in 3d on the inventory screen so you can see what the armor looks like on your character.
Personally I think its a great change, and I know die-hard Diablo fans will cry out in terror if anyone dare changes the ways of old but I would like to concentrate on killing masses of demons instead of playing tetris with my inventory.
And "custom designed gear for each class" don't know whether that means in terms of look, or class-specific gear but if its the latter, that should make inventory management extremely streamlined.
edit: I doubt that custom designed gear means class-specific, that would mean you could only trade with other Barbarians or Witch Doctors for your armor, which is kinda ridiculous.
i would prefer that the old style be taken out and that it be easier to stash items away in your inventory so you dont have to move around everything to make room for something else. i also hope they make inventory/stash bigger because i hate when i have a stash full of useful gear that i can trade and then i find something else that is also worth something and have to either throw something away or rearrange my whole stash. it gets annoying.

You are correct, they specifically have said there is not currently class specific equipment.
What I meant for example the Gothic Plate mail can be equipped by everyone but looks completely different on each class.
i kinda prefer the new system in this case. having a full char was such a pain in the ass in d2. with this system each item is assigned 1 slot so you have ALOT more room.
though the bags from wow, im kinda iffy. it gives more space, theres really no negatives, but its also straight from WoW. at least come out with a different idea of sorts
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
(this build was before D3 launched... looking back on it now - i had no idea what i was doing)
In the old system was impossible to collect diferent gears to use in diferent PvP situation. We could keep a few rings and amulet, but we could's put like 4 or 5 diferent sets in the inventory.
Now we can =) Itemisation in pvp is a GREAT aspect.

Man you were a real butt-head in that thread.
And I still will like the new system better.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
