elfen maybe it is his first name since it's fantacy which means they can make up any name they want and spell it anyway the want. Or it he is only refered as De Soto like how i call my friend by his last name.
i'm sure its not Gheed's last name it's a new character

I said seldom not never. That means that De can be a first name, it is just rare.

That was my point. I have dutch/german and some that are just of dutch/german descent friends I call by their last names, Van Der Heyden, Van Der Pol. Oh and my South african friend I call Van Nierkirk. I almost never call them by their first names.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.

the most exicitng thing with a possbile return of gheed.... I Don't give a rats ass ... end of story . Sorry guys i just can't find any exciting thing about that..
Well... it seems that the most rememberable characters are those from Act 1. Probably because that's where people spend most of their time in Battle.net; dueling, trading, muling... There were some really nice characters in other acts too, like Alkor or... Asheara (OMG! A half naked chick with snake on her neck!). Still, Gheed is awesome... if it won't be him in D3, we should at least have another greedy fellow.
So many NPC's have great story potential: Fara the Paladin(The redhead from Act 2), Gheed the Greedy Guy, Kashya the Rogue, Geglash the drunk guy.
You know what would be hell of awesome tho? If Blizzard commisioned a well done and damned MANLY manga of the sagas of Blood Raven, The Summoner, and The Wanderer. Or i they did a short story anthology telling tales about various armor sets and NPC's.
There are so many great characters in Diablo I just wanna see MOAR of, you know?

I totally agree with everything you said.
Diablo 3 is an opportunity to expand those characters and the world of Sanctuary in general... oh and thanks oren and Djinn Photoshoped it myself! ^^
If Cain has "the Cain Rap" (which if you havent heard it, you need to listen to it NOW! you can find it on youtube im sure) Gheed should have a rap in my opinion. Gheed is just such a perfectly made sleeze dealing guy, plus he had so many great phrases like when he said to my character "guess what? Ive named a boil on my as$ after you! it too bothers me every time I sit down!" or "I would rather thrust my holy scepter into the foulest carbuncular trull than enter that cave!" whoever wrote those lines was a genius, and whoever the voice actor was nailed them perfectly!
I think Charsi should return, just because on d2jsp if an item is shitty, everyone tell the dude to sell it to charsi. And if she doesn't return.... idk, just won't be the same.
Yeah, I can see Gheed returning for Diablo III, though I'd imagine he'd set up shop somewhere near New Tristram. From what I recall, New Tristram's supposed to be inhabited by sleazy salesmen, and Gheed seems to fit right in (and Wirt would too, if he hadn't gotten what was coming to him, teehee).
I'd like to see Anya make an appearance. It'd be nice to see how she handled Harrogath in her father's place, with the destruction of the Worldstone and everything (assuming she survived). Same with Larzuk; did he really end up getting through to Qual-Khek and create his crazy-sounding weapons? Or did he decide to pursue a bodybuilder lifestyle after wow-ing the ladies with his flexing and posing?
Hell, I wouldn't mind seeing Gillian return, either. I felt like she got so gypped in the original Diablo, so I'd like to see her have the chance to finally be useful.

I would have liked to have her back, too, especially after I learned that she was originally intended to have a bigger part.
But I believe she was killed in the attack on Tristram. (travesty!)
In closer-to-on-topic news (old news, for everyone else but me, I'm sure), it only took eight years for me to get around to it, but I finally decided to see what Gheed had to say in [some of] his quest dialogue. "Guess what? I've named a boil on my ass after you. It, too, bothers me every time I sit down." made me roar.
...just sayin'.
Anyway, I used to be somewhat ambivalent towards the guy, but the acerbic wit bumps him up a couple of notches in my book. I wouldn't mind if they brought him back.

Yeah, it's very likely that she was killed after Tristram was attacked; the skeleton near the spot she stood in kind of confirms that for me. However, part of me wants to believe that the skeleton is that of her grandmother, and that Gillian either escaped during the attack, or she left immediately after the events of the first Diablo (fingers crossed~).
That's a pretty nifty read, though. I thought I'd read those things about Gillian somewhere before, and now I know where.

I didn't think of that. There IS hope! (apologies to Granny. RIP. I should probably spell that out, since it could be interpreted Rest in Pieces... which, while that is most likely how she ended up, is probably not how Gillian would want her Nana to be remembered.)
Well, if him returning means a return of his lovely magic finding charm, I'm all for it. Otherwise, if he dies somehow, it would have to be in some ironic way, like he tripped on some fine linens and his caravan rolled over him or something, signifying that his greed was the end of him.

That should be an easter egg or something.

But by the looks of that concept art I might have some competition in mind!

still i think that's the human reencarnation of our fat friend Duriel.
i was right "Pablo De Soto" is clearly an spanish name... spanish city in Diablo III ???? can't understand why.
