This game, if it is released, could be great and will definitely be good looking, smooth-performing and relatively bug-free, but calling it a sequel to "Diablo" is seriously deluded.
Opinion is opinion, but why are you on this forum? Unless you are not looking for a sequel.
Maybe they should of stayed and worked on the game instead of all resigning to create their precious Flagship Studios which has done nothing but sink so far.
Of the 60 or so Blizzard North guys who worked on Diablo or Diablo II, less than 10 went on to work at Flagship. And Roper didn't move to Blizzard North until after "Lord of Destruction" was released.
Really, DM, you should familiarize yourself with the basics before you spout tired old falsehoods. Mobygames is a good place to start.
Yet Jay Wilson claims that 1/3 of his Diablo team was from Blizzard North...?
Jesus, people, work on the reading comprehension, please. Not everyone who was at Blizzard North at the time of its closure had a credit on a Diablo release.
Opinion is opinion, but why are you on this forum? Unless you are not looking for a sequel.
He just wants to complain. Seriously nearly every single one of his posts are "BLIZZARD SUCKS!" posts.

What else do you want from Blizzard? They aren't the same people. That's not Blizzard's fault. It's Blizzard North's/Flagship/whoever the hell they are now since they keep reforming and abandoning games.
Do you want Blizzard to clone Blizzard North and enslave them to work on D3? Come on... stop being so negative. Nothing can be done about Blizzard North leaving ALL those years ago. Time to move on, into the present times.
Opinion is opinion, but why are you on this forum?
Because I'm an old-school Blizzard fan who hates the see the great work the old crew did in the 90s turned into half-true marketing fodder. Maybe if you travelled hundreds of miles and faked your way into trade shows back in the day just to meet those guys, you'd feel the same way!
Besides, I'm sure whatever crew they have now is just as talented - there's no reason to claim stuff like "The team behind Diablo...", nor should a real fan be ignorant enough to believe it.

Basically, you are a troll?
If you don't like a product, or the direction of such product, and you come to that product's forum to complain about it, that's crystal clear trolling.
You don't see me going on EA's website and saying they are horrible they killed Westwood. Because that's pointless.

Uh, what? Who's claiming anything? If the team is just as talented, why are you complaining? I mean, what do you want from them? To magically call up old Diablo developers? To not make DIII? Or what?

And you?
I am interested in Diablo III since I was disatisfied with Diablo II.
Unless you want to find more specific information then I'm going to go by what wikipedia says.

That article doesn't contradict a single thing I posted. If you're too lazy to actually check out the credits on the old games, maybe an adult can walk you through it. And, yes, I care. Maybe that's because I'm a real fan of the original titles.
dude, you have issues.... seriously.... at least fake your way into a strip bar, as long as you get in trouble you might as well see some titties ffs, i mean... damn...
Personally, I'd prefer people going to see Bill Ropper or the director of their favorite sci-fi show instead, seriously. That, at least, signifies some height.
I am interested in Diablo III since I was disatisfied with Diablo II.
Wow. You're here because you hated Diablo II? Who's the troll again?
I'm just trying to correct a few misconceptions about stuff that can all be easily verified.
Let's say that the Beatles or Led Zeppelin mysteriously disappeared from public view at the end of their career, and, then, ten years later, a reunion album was planned, yet no one seemed aware of the fact that not a single person from the band was actually playing on it, yet their record label and manager still had the rights to the name and was releasing it as a new album by the same guys. Wouldn't the average fan find this interesting?
Of course, that would not happen in the music industry, but in the games business, the talent is treated as anonymous and interchangeable.

I'm not going through all the credits just to come to the conclusion that they're not working at Blizzard anymore. Wow, big surprise. I think almost everyone knows the people making D3 aren't the same people that made D1 and D2. There is no way to fix this though.
Okay let me rephrase that. No one BESIDES you cares about complaining.
You don't even give constructive criticism you just come in to say it's going to suck because blah blah blah.
What's going to suck? How could they improve this? What do you want to see?
I've been playing Diablo for a long while now. I'm a "real fan" too. I just don't obsess over this petty crap that can't even be fixed. Try to focus your passion for the series on things you can actually impact instead of just complaining for the sake of complaining.
Wow. You're here because you hated Diablo II? Who's the troll again?
This forum was called diablo3.com. Not diablo2.com. I am also a follower of Diablo I and Hellfire. I am very far from a troll.
I also said dissatisfies. Not hate. If you can't read I suggest you get glasses.

Games are a broader art than music is. Music is just music, there is nothing else. In games, there are way too many components. The way these components are going to be filled up may vary even if just one person on a team changes. But that doesn't define a sequel. What defines a sequel is the idea. The idea is THE most important thing in the game. It always has been. As long as you work well with that idea and not screw it up, and put effort and devotion in it, you can make a good game that is a sequel.

woow there, i was obviously joking...
I can find too many posts where people say roughly the same and are not joking at all.
This forum needs to be serious. It's nearing Battle.net forums in bedlam levels.
I am also a follower of Diablo I and Hellfire. I am very far from a troll.
Well, then you should be very happy to know that wheras there are a few guys with a Diablo II credit on the current team, there is absolutely no one from the Blizzard North team who made the original "Diablo" working on it. So it makes sense that you'd be following the development of the... errr... "sequel". Of the sequel. I guess.
By the way, I'm making a video I call "Star Wars 7". Of course, it doesn't have anyone in it from the original movies in terms of actors, directors, writers, and we couldn't get John Williams - but I think you might like it. With a little more marketing muscle and the legal rights to the name, I think it could be huge. Oh, and we have signed on Jar-Jar.

The country being Blizzard as a company, the government being the developers.Edit, not necessarily the developers but the games the company makes. My mistake =(
It's funny because this just makes me think of the ignorant Americans speaking out against other Americans "Well if you don't like what the President and Congress have done, LEAVE AMERICA". Which makes absolutely no sense, as a patriot or fan in this case you wan't to see the company or your country upright itself, not fail.

Please link the post where I say this. I've been consistent in saying that the game will probably be excellent - it just won't be a sequel in a real sense.

Why would I care who's working on it? I know what most people want. They want DII. I don't want DII. If the developers manage to make a Hack&Slash, sequel or not, that is as fun to play as DI was and avoids the mistakes made during DII's development, I will be happy.
Sequel is a highly subjective term. By your definition, NWN2 and NWN1 are not related. But I hardly see any difference between them. Fallout 1 and Fallout 3 is a different matter, they had a genre change. DIII? Genre is the same. 3D transfer, well, that happened to everyone in due time. You can't say it's not a sequel until you play it. Like it or not, people who did not make the original CAN make a sequel. And I often saw people making better sequels than originals.
In any case, I am here to discuss DIII. Not DI, not DII, not Hellfire, not anything, DIII. What are you here for? To say DIII developers are not true over and over again?
